It is not an obj, it is either an ifc or 3D-DWG depending on the project and application.

Watch my "Step-by-Step on Importing Your Own Model" video for the process... it is a ridiculous "process" to say the least but it does work. There are several competitors for working on projects like these in both AR and VR. The leader in AR right now is Campfire 3D and the industry leader hands down is Resolve HOWEVER Resolve is 100% VR. I have spoke to both Caddy and Campfire about the addition of added features for leveling out the playing field... we will see in the near future who listened because this is the future of design collaboration hands down.

That is what I thought as well but I could never get that to work on 3 different models. That would definitely make it much nicer however you still would be limited to the original colors of the model prior to bringing it in. They need a feature to add finishes within the software itself. If there is a trick that you know to the mtl I would definitely be interested. Thanks for your feedback!

Some folks have had luck exporting the obj file without normals.

There's a Readme file in the directory that stores the obj and mtl files that says it is currently optimized for the Seamons platform and other obj might vary in your experience. I create all my models with ifc and revit so coming in that way apparently does not act correctly right now. Hopefully they will fix that. Thanks again for the feedback! This is why I created the video...

Be sure not to rename the .mtl after exporting from cad and make sure that it does not export with spaces in the name.

​yeah i did that... I took the same obj and mtl and put them in a free obj viewer online the colors come in but not in Caddy... its weird.
