Technically, I'm pretty sure grounded raptures that are outside the defence zone don't count either. Then again that would mean they are at extreme long or short range, which tends to be railgun or nuke types so letting those types be is probably pretty dangerous anyway. Later down the line, waves will have a mix of grounded and airborne mobs almost every time.

I find that Modernia and BS Scarlet burst just kills everything and fills the bar fully before time even runs out. BS Scarlet does distributed dmg so its basically double Modernia burst.

Base Defense is the bane of my Nikke existence. This is where they throw gimmicks (worse than some gimmicky destroy stages) at you right when you're about to end on a good note. This is why I have a separate team that's made of screenwipers to make the process easier(hence why 2B is in my main team because she was from that other team. She got strong enough to replace Snow White), and even then I barely win. At least Defense has the privilege of wasting your time.

Oh cool! You learned the cheese strategy. Defense Battles also have a kind of cheese strategy: you kill all the strongest enemies, leave the weakest and slowest ones alive, and then sit behind cover. If there's enough weak enemies on the screen, the next wave cannot spawn and you can just waste time.
