    I wish Bachmann would revise these diverging 18 inch radius turnouts and build them like their numbered turnouts. Their numbered turnouts are actually pretty good. But these 18 inch radius ones can be unreliable. Some work OK out of the packaging, but I have found that many have to be tweaked in any of a number of different ways to get them to not derail rolling stock.

I don't think I can give you a recommendation based on my inexperience with DCC. I hope some knowledgeable hobbyist can help you out. I took a quick look at the HO Bachmann GP40 on the Bachmann site. Nice looking locomotive! I hope you have good luck with it. Thanks for watching!

      I'm new to this hobby also and I do see how some people feel it beneficial to run all of their accessories and or switches off of a separate power supply like this video shows. When you get into a lot of accessories it does make sense. The important thing is you can control your switches / accessories such building lights from one central location. Just label your switches and turn outs so you know what switch to throw. EDIT: However, Yes, you can run your DCC turnouts directly from a Bachmann EZ Command system, meaning you do not need a separate power supply for the switches; the EZ Command unit can provide power to control your DCC turnouts as part of your overall DCC system

    Hola nuevamente yo tengo una locomotora Santa Fe backman HO con sus respectivos vagones viene con su respectivo transformador de corriente modelo 6607 del cual sale un cable rojo q conecta a los rieles para darle corriente y en seguida de donde se conecta este cable hay otro espacio q vienen dos tornillos tiene una nota en ingles, q dice ÚNICAMENTE CONECTAR ACCESORIOS. Mi pregunta porque no tengo mucho conocimiento sobre esto, en este espacio q estan los dos tornillos debo conectar este accesorio q lo acabo de comprar en Amazon igual a uno de los tuyos q tienes en el vídeo es el accesorio para cambiar de riel el tren E-Z track remote backamann. Espero q me hayas comprendido mi pregunta. Gracias por responder un abrazo desde Colombia.

      Hi principe1216, Thanks for watching and for your question. I think I understand the question which I think is.. do you connect the red wires coming from your accessory - in this case the turnout's slide switch that opens and closes the turnout - to the screws marked ONLY CONNECT ACCESSORIES. Based on your description, the answer should be yes. Any accessory wiring should go the the power supply terminal screws labeled as the accessory connections. Again, that's based my understanding of your description. Hope that helps and good luck!

    Do these have to be powered if you’re using to to make a loop/turnaround section? When I do it that way, the train loses power halfway through the turnaround loop (diagram like this: -O).

    • @Northeasttrainyard
      @Northeasttrainyard Місяць тому

      You're referring to a reversing loop, correct? I don't think powering the switch should effect the track power. The switch power simply moves the switch points back and forth as far as I know. We've never done an HO reversing loop before, but from what I've researched your track power problem may be due to polarity issues. So, lets say your reversing loop is running on the straightaway in a left to right direction into the switch and loop. When it comes out of the loop back onto the straightaway (or maybe even before this), it will be running in a right to left direction. This is opposite of the original direction hence possible polarity issues. I don't know your layout specifics so I could be wrong in this case, but that's my guess (and you may already know this). Good luck!

    Great reviews. As a modeller in the UK and volunteer on a heritage railway I have worked on the class 101 DMU Daisy is based on. Unfortunately there was never a single car 101 so Daisy is a "what if" character. The white pads are the buffer heads. The black plaquards are destination boards and would in real life have the terminal stations name. On the rear side would be the other end of the lines terminal station. But again a great review and I have one of these and they do run great. Interesting fact for you in the original TV series Daisy's face shared the same moulds as used for BoCo. They also shared a bogie and in some pictures and videos you can see BoCos 6 wheeled (Co) bogie in place of Daisy having a 4 wheeled (Bo) bogie

    Excuse me while I go rewrite the article on the wiki that you were obviously referencing for this, it's a clusterfuck that somebody wrote without double-checking the work. You should have gone by the discontinuation year in the infobox under the image, and not the one in the text. 2005 is actually the year it was INTRODUCED, to go along with the arrival of Gordon and Henry.

    • @ZeldaTheSwordsman
      @ZeldaTheSwordsman 2 місяці тому

      * They are NOT based on BR Mark 1s. BR Mark 1s have smooth, steel bodies without all the fancy mouldings around the windows and doors. These are actually based on pre-grouping Midland Railway carriages (because like with a *lot* of the rolling stock they just re-used existing toolings). * It's actually not too hard to pop the carbody off the chassis for a clear look at the interior insert. If you do so, you can see additional details in the form of a dividing door in the corridor between the first-class and third-class sections, and armrests on the first-class seats. * Prior to the HiT era, it was actually the _red_ coaches that were associated with the Express. It started when the shortened red coaches were introduced in "No Joke For James" and persisted until Series 8. * Fun fact about the underframe detail: The round, somewhat dome-shaped detail, represents a dynamo that on the real thing would be spun by a belt on the coach wheel to generate electricity for the lights. * When it comes to opening the packages, I prefer to cut the melt-knitted edges off instead of damaging the cards. * Technically, it might only be the strapping on that coal wagon that's painted. The chassis is certainly just bare plastic, don't know about the wagon body. * The things you referred to as fenders are generally called either splashers or (more formally) wheel arches. * On Henry's show models, there's actually a water pump on that rear shelf on the tender - and the shelf extends a bit further inward. It's also only the side walls that are scalloped (the front wall is straight, and actually set back a bit). The tender is also taller. And has a black chassis (a pity Gordon and Henry weren't updated on that score at the same time James was; all three of them could also stand retooling to have longer posts like Edward does). * That silver "piping" is actually molded handrails. Basically, every standard-gauge engine prior to Ryan had their handrails (if any) molded as part of the body to simplify manufacturing. And on pre-Duck engines, the molding of said railings is on the crude side. * Technically, that's actually just a safety valve on top of the firebox. Henry's new shape didn't properly gain an actual whistle (at least, on the main model) until the CGI era. Fun fact: Originally, Henry had _two_ safety valves on his firebox. But when the models were being refurbished for Thomas and the Magic Railroad, one of them was transferred to Gordon to replace one of Gordon's that went missing (in fact, I suspect *all* of Gordon's original firebox adornments went missing: he actually has a different whistle from TatMR onward, and Edward is missing _his_ safety valve from Series 6 onward. It's possible the whistle was raided from Henry's old shape firebox, although it could also be a brand new piece.) * The lack of backhead detail in Henry's cab is definitely disappointing, as is the front windows only being painted on. * Ye gods Bachmann needs to make an E-Z Track-compatible crossing kit already. * Nice layout and running shots!

      Hi mixvm7984! Thanks for watching and commenting! The music playing in the Casey Jr video was added in post. The actual ride uses the Casey Jr theme music from the Dumbo movie and we assumed it was copyrighted so we replaced it. We would love to use music from popular movies such as The Polar Express (and many others). I could be wrong, but I'm thinking that music might be copyrighted too. Great suggestion, though!

    Wow! How long have you had the flatbed w/ paint cans? Apparently it was discontinued sometime around 2018 and is now borderline impossible to find. I had no idea that it existed until now. Clearly based on Calling All Engines; not a good movie at all imo, but still spawned some nice merchandise.

      Hi calebherring387! According to my son, we've had the paint can flatbed since around 2010-ish. Probably the only place you'll find it now will be sites like Ebay or Mercari. Good luck and thanks for watching and commenting!

    I have small layout using DCC with NCE Powercab controller. Can I still hook up the wires to a DC controller to make the remote switch operate? I want to try out these EZ switches.

    • @Northeasttrainyard
      @Northeasttrainyard 3 місяці тому

      Hey marcvonheleb, you're thinking about just running accessories (in this case your switches) off of a separate, dedicated DC power supply while the track power is still DCC? We're not experienced DCC users, but I don't see why that wouldn't work. Let us know how it goes. Thanks for watching!

    Great video. Finally someone doing a proper unboxing and setup of that turntable. Also just wanted to comment on the Bachmann controller. The only difference in the one you have and the one referenced in the manual is the AC inputs. Its a shame Bachmann stopped including AC connections. Now you have to buy an over priced part that gives you 2 sets of AC plugs. Subscribed to see what you do next.

    Oh, how I miss Bachmann's releases of buildings! Holding onto the hope that for the 80th anniversary next year in 2025 they'll announce some buildings. Since currently they only have Tidmouth Sheds, they discontinued their Knapford, Brendam Warehouse, Signal Box, etc. which I could to be a right shame, as they were all great buildings.

    Do you know how much room there is beneath the Doors for the track?

    • @Northeasttrainyard
      @Northeasttrainyard 3 місяці тому

      I'm not sure at the moment.. They accommodate the Bachmann E-Z track which is pretty high and there is plenty of clearance. We'll be putting out a video where we attach the turntable and sheds to the layout. We'll measure the door clearance and include it in the that video. Thanks for watching and commenting!
