Personally, if I had 210+ troops in my army, I'd see about dropping off a few (say, 50) in a nearby castle - probably even recruit the PoWs that I could, and drop the toughest of them off as well. That way I'd have like 50 slots open for rescued troops, as well as prisoner slots when I went after bandit hideouts.

One mod to look into is Improved Garrisons, especially in this sort of playthrough. So, how does it work? Well, let's keep it to the simple stuff - 1. Prisoner Recruitment - those fellas languishing in the dungeon (Bandits, POWs, those traded to the Ransom Broker) now can join your garrison. 2. Recruitment Limit - only want 100 troops per place - not a problem. Mind you, you set this up at each place. 3. Training the Troops - Sick and tired of the place being defended by Recruits? Set things up to train them the way you want - say 25 Archer, 25 infantry, 25 cavalry, 25 archer cavalry. Set them to your preferred tier 3,4,5, 6. You can eve train those of certain cultures. 4. Recruiting Parties - These guys will get troops from nearby villages. They can even go into other areas ruled by non-hostile lords to pick up more troops, even those of certain cultures. They can even be told to only get Noble units, or Noble units of Specific Cultures. 5. Patrols and Guards - you can have dudes roaming between your villages to help protect them from bandits and such - they will even buy horses, sell loot, and take/sell prisoners. Likewise, you can have dudes following you around, to aid you in battle or sieges. They will even replenish their ranks. 6. Garrison Transfer - Just took over a new place? Got no spare troops? Well, take like 20 guys from a couple of the nearby fiefs, and they can garrison the place, while the new place recruits the rest. In any case, it might be something you'll have fun with.

Man like you I'm a crossbow fan even though the troops are not as effective as the archers

You could use this mod as a means to hire Minor Faction troops reliably. Only catch is, if say you want 15 troops, you can't mix-and-match troops - like you can't hire 5 Beni Zilai troops, 5 Ghilman troops, and 5 Jawwal troops - it's 15 of one, or the others. But, and you'll want to double-check this, you could say that you want 5 troops, get 5 Beni Zilais, then say you want 5 more - Ghilman, then 5 more, Jawwal. Rinse and Repeat.

In the Siege Battles - Unit 2 is missing a Captain, as it were.

Still hoping that you'll continue this series. That being said, when it comes to parties run by companions, while you stick to Mercenaries and Caravan Guards, allow your buddies free reign to recruit whomever they want.

Your fighting small armies, not armies with any battle prowess; they are not competition, so please stop acting like they are going to do anything to you. Your using Khan's Guard, not just some horse archers; there is no comparison between horse archers and the Khan's Guard. The Khan's Guard are "OVERPOWERED" for a reason; use them to their full potential.
