TRULY HOW IS IT THAT THE LEAD LOCOMOTIVE STARTS OUT A GP38-2 THEN TRANSFORMS INTO A GP40 LOCOMOTIVE LATER ?????????????

I think when they were making this scene, I think there was a diesel locomotive during behind the scenes for the 2-8-0 to slip on various scenes and to "assist" the steam locomotive and the passenger cars up the grade (off-screen)

The shot at 2:58 ALWAYS GIVES ME CHILLS. I fucking love this movie, such a simple concept, but literally runs with said concept and it turns out beautiful. One thing that always attracted me to it, was 2 things, 1: how dystopian it feels, once the runaway is out on the mainline, nothing but rocks, trees, and snow. 2: how dully painted the locomotives are, they look so worn and rusty, they aren't special, just regular workhorses, possibly due for the cutters torch, these two things add so much to the film for me. The music is a whole other awesome discussion

What made me catch an interest in this movie was the moment just before this scene. There was just something so cathartic about seeing a hobo, carrying what could very well be junk, along some train tracks with such an epic music blasting away. Plus, both hobos greesing up the rails was so ingenius! I turned off the TV to avoid further spoilers and went ahead and downloaded the movie, it was a good movie night😊

The two circus trains left The Winter Quarters in Sarasota, Florida, never to return again. There is a gigantic train crash at the end of the movie.
