    LOL. Power out for 4 hours. We just spent last week in Boquete and the power went out two times. The hotel genny kicked in each time and it was AOK. But we're moving there from Houston, TX. If the power goes out in Houston, one should expect power to be out for at least two hours and in some cases (Hurrican Season) at least a week. Panama here we come.

    I don't think this B&B is open anymore. Their website is down, and I can't find any hotel reviews newer than March 2019. They are still listed on booking websites, but no matter how many dates I plug in or how far in advance, it shows no availability. I think they're out of business.

    Planning to visit at end of February and Boquete is one of many on my radar in Panama. I hear the need for maintenance services?...., living in Long island, NY for 40+ yrs, owning your own house, car, you become a handyman's trade, + not adding my carrier experience for a daytime job. Anyway, looking forward to a first visit of Boquete.

    Good video for basics. But why keep a car and why make Boquete some sort of permanent spot to stay in? Latin America simply has thousands upon thousands of places to wander to and enjoy. Boquete is nice, but would I want to park myself here? No.

    I’m in American living in the Philippines this reminds me of living here in terms of the pace of life and what to expect which would be something similar. Having said that this is one of the most informative videos I’ve ever seen! everything was easy to understand and your descriptions were very very good. Thanks for doing this video.

    I absolutely love this. I see that it’s real. Not produced within an inch of its life, but actually happened along with human emotion and involvement. Sweet and intelligent young girl who sees the future and her place in it. Gotta luv it. Thanks for sharing. This makes me want to move to Panama.

    What about bugs and mosquito? Do you need to worry about tropical disease?

    • @casademontanabedbreakfast7728
      @casademontanabedbreakfast7728 7 років тому

      Around town bugs and mosquitos are not a problem at all. "Coffee Flies" can be a problem at times, usually during dawn and dusk if you are close to plants. We have been here for several years and have not come across anyone with a "tropical disease". I am not too sure about the remote areas of Panama though.

      Lots of insects for sure, but not so many biting ones which is nice. Ticks aren't a problem as there's too much sun. Use repellent when you go hiking.

    Boquete is a wonderful small rural town to visit for 2 to 3 days. You only lose power 1 to 2 times per day. Do not drink any raw water from local rivers since their heavily contaminated. You can walk from one end to town to the other in 15 minutes. If you want a Trader Joe's or Whole Foods you will need a commercial jet. Same weather as Florida. The Panamanians seem nice enough we never ever had a problem. Just don't be stupid and wonder into gang areas or drug areas and you will be fine. Never go to Bocas Del Toro its a huge toilet on the east coast by Boquete. If your ready to retire I would avoid Panama and look to Cabo Wabo Mexico just south of San Diego or Bahamas a short ride from Miami. Health Care costs is a global embarrassment for the USA, make sure your able to get the care you need from a British Commonwealth country and you will be fine.

  • @goodluckman59

    Hello Manzar, thanks for your excellent video! My reason to relocate to South America is for fresh fruits and vegetables that are not sprayed like they do in Thailand where I live now. I have been thinking about Vilcabama and someone suggested I check out your area also. I am a raw foodist so good food and health is the number 1 reason for relocating from Thailand. Now I live extremely comfortable on $35 per month here. Can I do that where you are? Robert

    • @casademontanabedbreakfast7728
      @casademontanabedbreakfast7728 7 років тому

      $35 per month?! No, no place in Panama is that cheap! I love the vegetables and fruits here but you can expect to pay 50%-70% of the prices compared to a medium sized U.S. city.

    It took me 3 years to get my Pensionado visa. I had to go to the Immigration Office every 3 months, and leave the country for 3 days. After 3 years of being totally screwed around, they said I had to start over again!!!! I told them to #$#$%$$#%$#% I was leaving....... I got my Visa 2 days before I left.............. for good. No integrity here....... local people don't like Gringos......... be careful !!!!! Murders.......rapes.........robberies........break ins. I saw it all.

      @casademontanabedbreakfast7728 7 років тому

      So sorry that happened to you. Unfortunately some people have had these awful experiences. In Boquete typically we haven't had these kinds of situations/incidents. Having said that, about a year-and-a-half ago we did have some robberies and a couple of shootings. Rumor has it that the person who orchestrated these is behind bars. Thankfully we haven't had any "copycat" situations.
