I find it highly amusing in this movie the German soldiers are depicted as being effective as the Keystone Cops - they fire off thousands upon thousands of rounds at our heroes, yet the only flesh they could hit was Richard Burton's hand. "Damn! Blast!"

Lawrence both the Lean version of him and the real man are unfinished puzzles. Lean correctly shapes what was then known of Lawrence into a cinematic legend, the real Lawrence of Arabia was already a legend with the aid of friendly newspapers and morale during WW1. Has for Lawrence he still remains elusive

Lawrence's name is indeed an important theme in the movie. Yet, at 1:20, you remark that Lawrence "...is also not proud of his family name." Lawrence was a bastard. it's not a matter of being proud of his "family" name. It's a matter of Lawrence's painful relationship to his surname, "Lawrence". In fact, his Irish aristocrat father ran away with the governess; they both then adopted the surname "Lawrence", though it was the surname of neither of them. They produced five illegitimate children, including our hero. Icky, that, in Victorian England. The twisted layers of discomfort that Lawrence suffers in this regard is the origin of his reluctance to use or acknowledge the name. Are you unaware of this?

You say that after he was caught because of his fair skin and was tortured [because of his fair skin], Lawrence realized...that he can't change the core of who he is. It is true that Lawrence, after his capture and torture, wants to cease his attempt to be an Arab, wants to go home to England. You get the reason wrong. He was brutally raped by the Turkish Bey. He desperately wanted to get away from the Middle East where, he believed, this kind of barbarity occurs. The fairy-tale romance of the place had been shattered for Lawrence, to be replaced by horrific "reality". On account of the Movie Code, David Lean could not make this obvious, but it was Lean's intent that savvy viewers would recognize the subtle hints. How could you have missed this? When Ali asks Lawrence why he wants to return to England, Lawrence cannot tell Ali the truth because of his shame at having suffered homosexual rape. (Ali does not know about the rape.) Lawrence therefore lies about the cause being the color of his skin, a convenient invention. (Lawrence lies easily elsewhere in the movie.) Then Allenby then succeeds in persuading Lawrence to return to lead the Arabs against the Turks. Allenby succeeds however, because Lawrence is now driven by a different motive. He has a psychotic need to get revenge on the Turks for his brutal rape. When Lawrence gives the call to massacre the Turks in the caravan ("Take no prisoners!"), he is unleashing his psychotic, savage need for revenge. Ali is shocked. Bentley, the reporter, is shocked. Neither of them have a clue why Lawrence massacred these essentially defenseless people. Again, how could you have missed this?

The thousand yard stare by O'Toole when asked "who are you?" basically replies "that's a good question". Goes back to the VERY beginning at his wake ... 2 consecutive characters discuss who he was as a man. One says basically a hero. .the other a monster. And the real answer is both. Note the director chose to include the Derra rape scene. Hstorians sayvits fiction ... never happened ...but Lawrence himself penned it .. to it must be something important to Lawrence for him to do so ... so it's part of the answer to 'who are you " also As far as the "not signing his name, dont forget, he changed his name TWICE in RL enlisting in the air force and tank Corp to get away from who he was. And even his Lawrence last name was given after birth because of scandal id his father running off without of the house servants or something? So yes, identify of "who are you" is really answered as "ALL these things You are your race Your family Your culture What you DO What you embrace What people treat you as And what is broadly perceived as an avatar of you ... All at the same time... and at different emphasis levels at different time. When he first looks at his reflection ... he is pure ... naive ...principled and on a quest to give Arabs their independence After the slaughter of the Turkish caravan, he looks again ... a bloody monster ... a banger of death

The minstrel boy to the war is gone In the ranks of death you'll find him His father's sword he hath girded on And his wild harp slung behind him "Land of Song" cried the warrior bard "Tho' all the world betrays thee One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard One faithful harp shall praise thee" The minstrel fell but the foeman's chain Could not bring that proud soul under The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again For he tore its chords asunder And said, "No chains shall sully thee Thou soul of love and brav'ry Thy songs were made for the pure and free They shall never sound in slavery

I loved it too. I really did and I love the first part of it. You know the broody and everything and he’s chasing one of the double oh agents that got turned that was hysterical and the woman on the yacht was like only if I can find a real man, and he actually came out of the sky And landed on her yacht. Oh my God and when he did my mouth just dropped a Timothy Dalton is a really good actor in a really good person and I Telya he brought it in every way and I can just say this the man is the most sexiest man on the planet in that voice oh Jesus, but the part that I really loved about the movie is when he said salt corrosion that made me laugh Other than that I cannot say anything bad about this movie. It was wonderful from start to middle to finish. This would like you to know.

The time between being taken from the car crash to getting out of the hand cuffs in Fort Knox is 50 minutes to be fair which is half the film’s length. However, it’s not like there is nothing going on in the duration so it’s not an issue to me whether it be his short lived escapes or just seeing the villains in action as it is arguably the best villain ensemble in the series and definitely the most iconic at that

I would take the Bible, a book on World History and a Book on Hoe to Rebuild Civilization. Also, the 1960 Classic Movie Version is the best film version of the H. G. Wells novel. There was a later made for TV Version made in the 1970's, also with Whit Bissel. It was alright, but it couldn't measure up to the 1960 Version. And the latter version that came out in I believe the 1980's, I didn't care much about. The 1960 Version is a classic!
