Thanks! No, you don't need SL3, the mixer has it all built in, so the chain is turntable -> akai amx -> laptop. But you need to buy the dvs plugin for serato dj to be able to use timecodes. If you have for example Rane 72 mixer or something similar that unlocks the dvs option then you don't need to buy anything, otherwise 99$ for the plugin... hope this helps!

You 100% answered my question thank you so so much. I have an SL3 and I’m wondering if I should keep this or try to sell it since mixers are much more advanced now for turntables. Anyways, seriously thank you you helped me end weeks of research 🔥🤣

@@jelllyprty1207 , hmm, I'm not sure how this will work because the AMX is usb powered, SL3 also needs to go to the usb which may result in some kind of conflict but nothing stops you of trying, its just this 99$ bucks that you have to pay at the end.... :|

thanks! if you plan to mix real records maybe it is worth to check newer models that have better needles and tonearms because mine are now modified and it hits the pocket :)

@@zeelakeela , they will be much better if you upgrade the tonearms and use normal cartridges. Much better sound and not bust out your recs

btw bro it would be waaay cooler if you used real wax. Nice upgrade on the numarks cant justify the cost to upgrade my Spin

How much is it does you ship abroad?

I'm using it with Serato DJ. I'm not sure if you can use the mixer with other software because that was never my intention, so you will have to make your research. BUT, for using the mixer with turntables (DVS) you need to pay $99 to unlock this feature in Serato DJ. I guess if it works with other software you will also have to pay for it. Let me know if you have more questions :) V

The AMX is compatible with Traktor too. Can be mapped easily enough 👍

@@djnoteazy @illpee01 Yes, the AMX should also work with Traktor (if you have a license around). There is a full Traktor mapping from DJ Estrela on DJ Tech Tools. So you have the same, just with Traktor. But the challenge to make your own 7" vinyls out of 12" ones :-D

@@NewElectronicFrontier , on this video I'm using 7" cut by myself, it wasn't that hard as I expected but yeah, Serato has real 7", I don't understand why Traktor didn't make one for so many years...

@@djnoteazy Me neither... I mean the Portablist movement is not really new in 2020 :-D How did you do yours? Marking 7" - drilling holes - sanding off the rest? Or any other process? AND: totally missed in the first place: great performance. Wish I would be at this point...

hahaha, i should have started selling these then :D it's cool man, i enjoy it but i still prefer to rock my proper setup at home, maybe its just because i have better mixer there, this amx feels a bit too small but does the job on the portable side :)

@@UncleCatfish , if you want to use DVS I think Akai AMX is best choice because you have it all built-in. If you want to play 45s in standalone mixer I think Raiden RPM-100 is your thing. I'm also looking for Raiden. If you want Akai AMX a friend of mine just told me he is selling his, so you can have a great deal :)
