I have an ethos when it comes to cars -- you either own one car that can do everything, or you own one car for each requisite. I must live in the latter, because I'm an extremist and I find myself solely with four very versatile vehicles.
And I have the wherewithal to fix my mistakes. That allows me the luxury to make some pretty stupid mistakes. But I’m a do-it-yourself-er with moot mechanical abilities that just may be enough just to get the project done.

Interior Door Handle Replacement Sans Removing the Door Panel \\\\ 97-03 BMW 5 Series #e39 #e39M5
The iconic e39 M5 is now a 20+ year old car. And it takes more than a little maintenance to keep these cars in excellent condition both mechanically and aesthetically.
Just a few days ago I was driving my e39 M5, as I do most days, and as I went to open the door, the handle came right off in my hand easily as though I didn't know my own strength. It was time to look for a replacement, because, to me, not driving this beautiful beast of a car is NOT an option.
It was a bit difficult to find a replacement door handle as they are all NLA, so you can only source them used. The door handles are out there and available, but you need to know where to find them. You have to search M5Board and the FaceBook Groups. The door handles for cars with build dates post 03/01 are even harder to find. Regardless, this is one more thing I needed to take care of to keep my beloved e39 M5 on the road.

The BMW e39, particularly the M5, is a well-loved modern classic car. They are becoming less available as the years go on, parts are becoming harder to find and cars that are completely restored or entirely original are even rarer. That's where I come in. Every e39 chassis I touch I want to be as close to original perfection as possible. As I approach perfection, every single nut and bolt and w...

I've had done a ton of work to the Foxbody since I purchased it in January of this year. Most of the work I've done has not been recorded, edited and publicized. I wanted to make a little collage of what little video and pictures I do have of all the work I've done over the past six months or so. I'll make longer format videos soon.

In this video on ArtWerks Garage, I'm taking the HVAC box that has already been removed from the car and completely rebuilding it. That means disassembling it as much as possible, removing the irreparable A/C evaporator core and heater core, cleaning everything and then installing a new evap and heater cores. Removing the evaporator core is not nearly as simple as removing the heater core, whic...
Fixing the #foxbody Gangster Lean / Seat Lean on my 1988 Ford Mustang GT

If you're watching this, you are probably victim to a broken seat in your Foxbody generation car. This catastrophe can be called a seat lean or the "Gangster Lean" due to the fact that when the seat breaks, from abuse and age, it will lean back one way or the other. But there is good news. It can be fixed, for free. And when you fix it, it will be dramatically stronger than it was from the fact...

I want to take you along on this journey and show you what it takes to design and build your own car part. In this case, I'm developing a rear brake caliper bracket for the Foxbody Mustang, because there is nothing on the market that suits my needs. Well, I'm a bit disappointed. Didn't get to see the reassembly of the rack . I was thinking of doing the same to mine , Reseal it myself instead of buying another one.
console came up great mate....did a good job on that
Purchased a 2018 Land Cruiser with 27k miles on it. It definitely didn’t hit the mileage but dam sure hit the months counter on maintenance and I’m looking to do these services myself soon. Your video is going to help a lot . Thank you
Glad I could help! You'll feel a lot better having done it yourself.
Proper maintenance is essential, sadly most people don’t care enough to do it.
Thank you very useful. Could you tell me where you find this maintenance book ? Is it part of the owner documents ? I think i do not have it. Cheers from Paris
The 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser Warranty and Maintenance Guide. It comes with the glovebox manual and other literature that the truck comes with new.
One 5 channel may fit easier than one mono and one 4 channel
I'm really trying to fit at least 7 channels, preferably 9. I'm looking at the JL Audio VX600/6i or VX800/8i along with a VX 600/1i or something like that. I want the built in DSP as that saves room not having to also have a separate DSP module. I'm also looking at the Audio Control amplifiers.
I think the bracket needed to be flipped and cut. Junkyard Dog has a video doing a disc swap on the 8.8.
Yes, you mean if you wanted to try running these new brackets with Fox-length axles. I'm curious to find out if that works.
This is great thank you. Question. Is that stock ride height? What size are those tires?
Not at all. This should answer your questions... ua-cam.com/video/wDJE2yFZ15I/v-deo.html
Nice work, Art.
Where to find this exhaust ? Thanks
Damn good question. I had an eBay search saved for "Akrapovič" for quite a while. Finally one popped up and I bought it immediately. These are rare and really hard to find IMHO.
Hey, we’re sis you order the door gasket from? Thanks in advance

This is more of a "How Not To" than a "How To." The retaining pins you took a ball peen hammer to can be removed by simply pushing down on the spring clip to remove the tension. Also, a brake caliper press is the only way i would ever compress the caliper pistons. It ensures the pistons are compressed evenly, together.
Makes me wonder why you watched if you already know everything. I did this job safely and correctly.
@@artwerksgarage If you really want to know, why do you keep taking down my reply to your wonderment question?
I didn't. And I have no replies "held" for review. Your guess is as good as mine.
Awesome footage bro!!! i am happy someone has finally recorded a video about the amazing 420G and its internals!! Check out Metric Mechanics. They actually have footage of the removal of the gear sets!!! Keep us updated on how it all turned out and make some more videos!!
Thanks! Will do! My 420G is operating as expected with no leaks after about two years and 3k miles!
Hey man what manual were you reading from?

Thanks for your continued support, Dave. I love getting messages from you. I hope you're well, my friend. I miss you.
What size wheels did you install? I have a 2006 C4s, and I've seen some people go 12 or 12.5 and even 13 inches in the rear. Thx great video.
These are 20". The specs, I have no idea. I bought these used and the CM website doesn't offer much information. These are for the 997 and fit my widebody Turbo great. But it's helpful to note that I also run spacers front and rear.
Great use of the B-Boys on your vid. I would like to hear the opening riff of the 'Makin' with the Freak Freak' song on the next one please. Ok, so I have one question and a few points. Q: When you say; thousands and thousands and thousands. Could you be more specific? Do you mean millions? Points:about the pad alignments, which I feel need clarification. Brake pads should cover the full friction surface of the rotor. Pads should not extend beyond the outer edge of the rotor. Pads should not be positioned too far inward, avoiding unused rotor surface. The pad face must be parallel to the rotor surface. There should be a small gap between the pad and the rotor’s edge. Ensure even pad contact with the rotor to avoid taper wear. Pads must not overhang the rotor, which could cause uneven braking. Proper centering of the caliper is essential for pad alignment. Pads should align evenly on both sides of the rotor. Floating caliper should move freely to adjust pad position. The pad backing plate should sit flush within the caliper bracket. Pad friction material should be fully within the rotor’s friction zone. Pads should align symmetrically across the rotor. Avoid having any portion of the pad’s friction material hanging off the rotor. Ensure pads are seated fully in the caliper bracket. Pads must not contact the rotor hat or center hub. The caliper piston should apply even pressure to the entire pad surface. The floating caliper must self-adjust to maintain even pad-to-rotor alignment. Check that the pad retaining clips hold the pads firmly in place. Pads should glide smoothly into position within the caliper assembly. Inspect for proper pad clearance when brakes are not applied. Both inner and outer pads should align equally with the rotor. Ensure that pad edges do not catch on the rotor’s lip. Pads should not contact the cooling vanes of the rotor. Proper pad alignment reduces the risk of rotor warping. Pads must not touch the rotor’s non-friction area or vents. Pads should not tilt or rotate within the caliper. Check that the pads sit at an even distance from the rotor’s center. Pads must be evenly aligned to avoid uneven rotor wear. The pad’s wear indicator should not prematurely contact the rotor. Ensure that pad shim alignment matches the rotor. Pads should maintain consistent contact as caliper shifts. Make sure that the caliper bracket aligns the pads straight on the rotor. Pads should sit flush against the rotor with no gaps. Pads should clear the rotor’s outer lip caused by wear. Pad alignment should ensure maximum brake torque efficiency. Ensure pads retract evenly when brakes are released. Pads should be free of contaminants that affect alignment. Pads should move with the floating caliper during operation. Pads should align squarely, preventing dragging on the rotor. Proper pad alignment prevents brake noise or squealing. Pads must clear any grooves or imperfections on the rotor. Pads should not shift or slide within the caliper during braking. The pad surface must fully contact the rotor during braking engagement. Proper pad alignment minimizes caliper and rotor heat buildup. Pads should sit snugly without excessive movement within the caliper. Pads must maintain alignment through the caliper’s entire floating range. Even pad alignment ensures proper braking force distribution. Pads should sit at an optimal distance from the rotor to prevent premature wear. Inspect the pad position regularly to ensure alignment remains correct as the brake system wears.
For reference: ua-cam.com/video/M-wJrRmXzZQ/v-deo.html
When I say, " thousands and thousands and thousands ", I mean about $2k-$3k to have only about ten sets of these produced. There's economy of scale, of course, but I need to gauge interest for this sort of thing. Good points on the pad alignment. I, fortunately, feel very confident that my setup will perform as expected.
Well done!
Please tell me your going to sell these when you get done
Yes sir, that's the plan. Spread the word.
@@artwerksgarage definitely will be looking forward to that
Please share this vid and information with your friends. The more likes and encouragement I get the more likely I'll be able to produce these.
Hey Matthew, my product is ready for production, but I didn't really want to offer it to the public until I've been able to test it on my car. Unfortunately, my car isn't getting painted until Feb. 2025 and won't be reassembled and road worthy until about March or April 2025 at the earliest. If you're interested, I'd be happy to sell you this product at cost, which would be about $475 for the pair of rear brake brackets. Otherwise, based on my current setup this product will cost close to $600 if I'm manufacturing them on-demand and not in-bulk. Anyways, if you are prepared to do this you could test the new brackets for me at a reasonable cost well before my car is ready to do so. Let me know!
Also, I expect this product to perform flawlessly. My only concern is bending or flexing over time, since these are made out of aluminum which is not quite as strong as the original steel brackets. However, I made these new brackets thicker (bigger) to compensate for the slight reduction in strength while still being significantly lighter than stock.
This is a fascinating video. I've known you for a lot of years Art, but you continue to surprise me with your talent and skill. This is not an easy thing to do, but you seem to have picked it up very quickly. Can't wait to see all this all turns out.
Wow, thank you, Dave! That means a lot to me.
I just received my Gobi ladder. Did you have any visibility issues from your rear camera by following the 8.5 “? I have read online that 8” had to be used and trimming around the rubber door trim. You are the only UA-camr that I can find anything on the Go I ladder for LC200
I have a slight obstruction from the ladder in the review view camera. Maybe it's because my truck is lifted, but I don't find it overly distracting or blinding by any means. I would say you do have some wiggle room with the ladder placement, but not much and I'm not sure how much that would help.
Who needs emergency brake when you’ve got emergency eject?!😆😄✌🏼
🤣
Dope man
Wow! That's quite a piece of work and a lot of effort as well as skill. How many hours did you put in on just this piece?
Hey Dave. Thanks for asking. It’s hard to quantify how many hours this took me specifically as I did this over a few days, about a few hours a day. I guess this took me around eight hours to complete and I am still not quite 100% finished.
Another solid video, Just straight to the point with everything! We specifically produce LEDs for auto. Can we invite you to do a review for our product? We have emailed for an inquiry.
Thank you. Yes, but I haven't received an email that I'm aware of.

Hello, my transmission is a factory 6-speed manual (getrag 420g), but I have a problem with the bell housing bearings. Do you have a bearing kit that you can sell me for the bell?
Sorry, I do not. Your best bet would be to go through Diffsonline.com.
Nice job mister
Hi I am from Denver as well and got same LC as yours I have few questions how to contact you? Here is my email if you could send me your phone number I will call you. Greatly appreciate
Excellent work go you
Those seals are made to "reshape". I had to make a tool to get mine to compress back down. They are just like sealing rings in a transmission - you stretch them to get them on, then compress them again when they are in place. I have tools for 4L60's, 4R70W's, etc. But I did not have one for my Fox rack, so I made it from some PVC pipe. Unfortunately, I lost an hour of footage when I rebuilt mine because the camera went into heat protection. BUT, I may have some pics, or may even have the tool kicking around if you need pics.
That's interesting. I've never heard of that before. Thanks for the tip!
yep these are teflon seals, same thing with direct injection seals, you need to re-compress the seals with a tool (anything with a gentle radius or chamfer will do and some lube).
That’s very helpful. Didn’t know that. Good knowledge.
Trying to copy me 😂
thanks for sharing, seems straight forward!
Looks like the issue I just had happen. The cover plate to cylinder head that holds coolant, as well as the metal bracket that holds wire harness @ cam sensor. The torque spec has got to be very low because it took hardly any force at all to crack plate.
I see now in replies it has been mentioned. Please excuse. Well, at least it will show in comments first glance ;)
This transmission was also fitted to E39 540i, am i correct? Could you provide me with BMW OE number for this exact transmission?
Yes it was also used in the 540. Part No.: 23007501757
What is that yellow cable connected on the + pole on the battery?
I don't know for certain, but experience tells me that this yellow connector is the battery disconnect that occurs when you are in an accident and the airbags go off. If that happens the car will not run and, unfortunately, you would have to replace this entire cable.
