Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ (I Call on Thee, Lord Jesus Christ) - J.S. Bach
Be blessed by J.S. Bach's meditative organ prelude, "Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ (I Call on Thee, Lord Jesus Christ)," BWV 639.
One of the more well known of Bach's 46 choral preludes, this gentle melody, adapted from Johann Agricola's 16th-century hymn, speaks to our need for Christ to be with us, defend us, and provide us grace.
Verse:
I call to you, Lord Jesus Christ,
I pray, hear my lamentation,
bestow your grace on me at this time,
do not let me despair;
I think that I have the right faith, Lord,
which you wanted to give me,
to live for you,
to be useful to my neighbour,
to keep your word properly.

Yes. Oh, yes. Play it sans the sheet music, which is somewhat in the way. Think of the chord modulations instead of letting a script do it. Feel it. Play it. Glorify His name through it.

Praise the Lord! While it is one tune, Bach does employ two different voices, with the chorale tune being lined out prominently in the right hand. God bless!
What do you do in the right hand
While a score is currently not available yet, the arrangement sets up the right hand to accompany the left hand's melody line via sixteenth notes. The melody then returns to the right hand for much of the piece. God bless!
