"Travis Harvego’s journey from canvasser to CEO is truly inspiring! This episode is a testament to the power of hard work, perseverance, and never giving up on your dreams. A must-listen for anyone looking to elevate their career! Hello my friend, I hope you're doing great! Just checking in to see how everything is going with your upcoming videos. I know you're working hard to ensure the best results, and I truly admire that! Any updates on when we can expect the next video?
My dad was a GM executive back in the heydays of GM being the largest employer in the world. He answered this very question. "Because we pay you to do 100% of a job. We don't pay you to do 90% of a job."
That's an interesting perspective. I believe to get 100% from employees, we need to show them appreciation and value their efforts along the way. When people feel seen, respected, and valued for the work they do - even when it's not perfect - they're more motivated to go above and beyond. It's not just about getting the job done; it's about fostering a culture where people want to do their best because they know their contributions matter.
Hey, we know that guy! Great episode!
So your goal in life is to produce a mediocre team. Awesome. Good luck with that. It'll get you absolutely nowhere but best of luck anyway...
They goal isn’t to build a mediocre team - it’s to create a great one by focusing on cultural alignment first. Skills can be taught with the right training and development, but without the right attitude and shared values, even the most skilled employees will hold a team back. When you prioritize hiring people who align culturally, you're building a foundation for long-term success. From there, you can help everyone grow into their full potential, which is how greatness is achieved.
Mr. Shah is right, but he didn't actually say there isn't a shortage of skilled trades people, he presented that there actually is a shortage of people that know the training is available. And he is right. I enjoyed the show! . I am actually about to offer this same 608 EPA course, and reached out to Skillcat to offer their courses as well, one of his people emailed me back and is on my list today to return the call. The interesting part is Ray Bates sent me your website so I could see what you have going on and possibly network, the first place I landed was here, completely random LOL. Great show BTW way!
Eric later that day speaking to friends/family "so ya, my boss is like super clingy... It's kinda uncomfortable"
Is this guy trying to get fired…?
Hello, Ryan I wonder how come after a year that this video has been out I am the first one to put a like and write a comment under it. I see what your point is about the modern hiring system and how it can be changed. I have thought about this extensively and I came to a conclusion that if people began sending fake or overexagerated resumès the companies that receive them would end up inventing even more complex candidate screening checks with AI. Such checks that would make getting a job even closer to impossible. Your point is insightful and it brings a far more positive alternative view, thank you for sharing
Thanks for your thoughtful comment! You bring up a great point about how fake resumes could push companies to rely even more on complex AI screening methods. Instead, if companies can create more clarity around what they're looking for and have authentic conversations with candidates, we can improve the interview process for everyone.
Very very true
Thanks for listening!
all good comments!! the point is not that automation, robots or AI are not taking jobs, its just that the change doesn't happen in s straight line or as quickly as some say
Exactly! Thanks for joining me on Titans of the Trades, Jeff.
This guy's and idiot. All those examples he gave only affected one industry at a time. AI and robotics will hit all industries at the same time. That difference is the biggest change from what happened in the past.
Its always some dumbfuck daying ita fake news. It was just a story until it wasnt. Youd have to be be brain dead if you think a company would rather pay a person and deal with all that over buying a robot once and maintaining it.
Basically everything, but the ATM that he mentioned did replace people's jobs. The idea that AI isn't going to take a lot of people's jobs in the next 5-10 years, as quickly as it's advancing, is laughable at best and actively deceptive at worst.
Jobs are not the fear. AI sucks as tool with nobody behind the wheel. What the real problem is the deceptive ability of AI. To make it look or sound like someone did or said something they didn't do. That is pure evil and must be stopped
Since it has happened already its not a myth. Just because there are other jobs to fill the gap, doesnt mean those jobs arent gone. Automation took most factory jobs out and those were replaced with other jobs and professions, but the original jobs were still gone. The difference is looking at it at a larger scale vs from an individuals standpoint
Steam engine change the way people were working In mines, so less miners needed. Also we chenged sail for steam engine so if you were a producer you lost your job because almost no one need sails. And so on and so on. AI will take a lot of jobs. But it won't be something we have not seen before. The scale of that might be very different than steam engine. We will see. So it is true.
I agree that AI will take a lot of jobs in very specific areas, much like the ATM and now online banking took away teller jobs. But at the end of the day, we won't see AI paving streets or building homes anytime soon.
@@corefithiring you are probably right but I'm not sure about the scale. Company's like Boston dynamics are pushing boundaries every day. Time will tell.
Excellent episode you guys!!
