La PALOMA - Warekes
Warekes - La PALOMA
La PALOMA is a traditional "gaita de tambora" from the towns around Lake Maracaibo in el Zulia, Venezuela. It, like other gaitas de tambora, are traditionally played around San Benito's feast day, given the saint's important role in the local Afro-Venezuelan cult. As part of the New Folklore without Borders, we wanted to share this part of our traditions with friends, as we reimagine our roots in a new context.
