They make a gun for this, it’s like a drywall gun for grommet fasteners, we don’t do a bunch of metal roofs but when we do they are nice to have, ours are dewalt you can adjust the clutch for different size metals and fasteners

i live in the philippines and my roof is 3/4 ''plywood with a tarp stapled over it the sheet metal is heavy gauge corrugated. and my screws are in the flat to stop typhoons from removing the sheet metal. ridges wont cut it. i screw every 6 inches in rows 4 foot apart. its painted over with iron oxide primer and hi gloss white oil enamel. my washers never get sun or rain on them. i spot sand and repaint every 3 years and being white the roof is 70 degrees at hi noon in july, my washers dont get baked.

How do you prevent leaks? Are the washers (rubber?) enough? I don't understand how they dont get rain or sun. Could you elaborate?

You're 100% correct in terms of not over tightening the screw to prevent damage to rubber washer and avoid leaking, but infact you don't exactly know where to screw, thats not the correct place my friend.

I couldn't help but notice the single 120 gallon propane tank. Is the Generac running on natural gas or propane? If propane then how is that single tank for prolonged outages? My installer recommended to have at minimum two tanks.

Fasten on the ribs, you’d deform the panel shape before deforming a quality sheet metal roofing screw rubber washer. The water falls on either side of the rib and onto the flat. Painted screws are trouble, outdoor rated fasteners should be stainless or galvanized at minimum

You should use a screwdriver impact or a drill or get a app capable impact for the proper driver torque for the fastener. And using your own tool like this is valuable to know it's settings and abilities for the tool and yourself
