    Ok I’m trying to keep this as constructive as possible. You set out to do a “how to” and in reality succeeded in producing a how not to. This did not work for me at any level. First your title, “Top 5 Skills to Make Better Videos in 2025”. It was nice, eye catching, dynamic, it worked well enough to make me click on the video. Then it went downhill. I was expecting at least a relatively smooth and clear “this guy knows what he is on about video”. And five nice clean concise skills outlined. So what did you deliver, well,,,,,, You kind of had the rule of thirds in your head but your explanation was dire to say the least. White balance, ‘F’ stops, ‘iso’ settings flashed across in a matter of seconds with no real explanation of what they were, something that could and maybe should take a serious chunk of time to explain and you managed to waffle over it in a few seconds (while giving no real clear information). All the while spending more time on explaining your really poor concept on back lighting/mood lighting, which incidentally did not work as the colour changing was more of a distraction than anything else, it was harsh jarring and contrived, and not at all easy on the eye. Lower light setting and softer more subtle colours, slower smoother changes. Instead I am watching a “bear with me folks I’m new to this” ‘this guy does not really know what he is talking about’ sort of thing. I lasted 1.52 secs of a 15.31sec video that should actually tell you this did not work. Take it down and do it again is the best advice I can give on this effort.

      I mentioned the skills to know (true to the title) not how to fully master or completely understand. I go more in depth in my text based email course I mention in the video. Regardless, Thanks for your feedback. Agreed that this was a scrappy video and other than the outline of the skills, everything else is improvised and unscripted. I think the five skills are correct in that they are the things you should know to shoot video: 1-composition (framing, camera settings, set) 2- Lighting (soft light not hard or harsh) 3- Sound ( capture between -18 and -6 decibels and do a sound test to ensure this at your softest and loudest speaking levels) 4- messaging (what you say) 5- put your heart and soul into this / be authentic These are not false truths about video though the 5th one is open to personal interpretation. I like a little glow from the corner lights but perhaps they aren't for everyone or perhaps too jarring. Tho how-to videos aren't my natural niche, I banged one out and still remember who I am at heart. This content creation thing is just another way to come to know the self. Cheers🎉

      @@bradycsnow Thanks for the reply Brady. I’m not claiming that you did not follow through on presenting your “5 skills” (I did not watch for long enough to be able to comment on that) I am saying that from my perspective they were not delivered well enough to keep me engaged, which I understand is obviously just my opinion. To put you in the picture I am currently looking at compiling some videos myself which is why I clicked on yours, to see if you could add anything else to my knowledge collecting. Your title caught my eye as it came across as quite authorative but when the vid started the content came across as anything but. I understand that your perception of what you think you have delivered will be different to my perception as the viewer or recipient of the vid. But as a viewer/listener of your video, as mentioned before I found it to be somewhat ‘muddy’ where the information was concerned and not the most pleasant experience where the visuals are concerned. The monitor on top of the dresser/display unit with the waves, at 1.44 suddenly changes to shopify and other things completely unrelated to your video content, which was somewhat disconcerting. The lighting on you as the subject was quite harsh, casting lots of shadow on you when you moved your hands around. The lighting behind the furniture is too strong and casts its own shadows (behind the bookshelf not a good look) and they flicker and change. None of this helps the feel of the video. I wish you all the best in your endeavours, but doubt I will be back.

    • @bradycsnow
      @bradycsnow Місяць тому

      I haven't been making many shorts lately for UA-cam primarily because my vertical vids were over the previous length requirement of a minute. I wonder why some videos disappeared. That's odd. I think the change is a good call. If people need more than a minute to communicate vertically give em some extra time

    Teach me your ways! I Love the intro! I need to start doing that! What kind of camera do you use?

    • @bradycsnow
      @bradycsnow 2 місяці тому

      Thanks Ty haha I've wanted to show a little bit of the realism of video production since the reality is never the perfectly curated selection of best clips that video projects itself to be. I use a Sony A7siii and for outdoor scenes in bright light I use a Peter McKinnon ND filter. I have a customized picture profile that does most the color grading for me in camera. Couldn't be happier with how most the shots turn out when lit well! For ways I think everyone has their own unique presentation style and it's just a matter of experimenting and processing the right feedback to find yours. In a nutshell follow what feels most natural to you. I'll also add that brief little glimpses into your authentic behavior such as inserts of bloopers or natural reactions into the main video make a massive boost in engagement and trust. Everything else is just a perfectly scripted video? No these creators are imperfect beings like the rest of us. Also I'll say a little bit of humor and glimpses into the real life of the creator go a long ways too! For simplifying the technical side of video and ensuring you deliver a purposeful message I made a free email course on it. Check it out here if that sounds interesting to you: weststormstudio.com/resources

      What kind of stuff do you want to help them get done? There is no rush to being specific but we should be moving towards becoming specific and clear over the problem we want to help people solve. Being in the mindset of service is going in the right direction though, because that's how we get in alignment with our purpose and the value exchange that purposeful alignment brings from the universe.
