Would anyone know if this is an off-shoot sect of the Jehovah’s Witnesses? A Lot of the verbiage is the same. Meetings, The Truth, Controlling women and covering up abuse and molestation in a Patriarchal religion. Do they meet in Kingdom Halls and read a New World Translation? Any insight would be welcome.

Dig the part about waiting outside and letting the servers go first. How many times have I heard that, well everybody does wait, wait outside the dining tent, when the whistle is blown or when no whistle, but permission is given it's just PUUUUUUUSHHH in ,old, young, feeble, grab the first seat at the table you can find. Else you'll have to wait for the second sitting, oh horrors! What they actually said, at the end of the meeting like this video, was please let the servers out first, meaning stay seated and let the servers out so they could get to the dining tent and prepare. But.....nobody, or very few, actually listened to that and just bulled out anyway, had to get to the lineup first see? never seen the like as those people wanting to eat, worse than bears. Workers had their own exclusive table so no worries about second sitting, but many of them had supervisory duties and like th e servers, would have to eat in shifts.

I was borne into this cult and altho not a member now as I was not religious enough,I found them to be very nice law abiding people who liked to get together and read the Bible .Of course in any group there are problems and I believe the the journalists just push the problems to get their articles read and the situation is greatly exaggerated

This is NOT a cult whatsoever. God made men in his image, but not like him exactly. No men in this world are perfect. We do not praise nor cherish the workers. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t find the truth. It’s our relationship with the lord that matters, not with the workers. I do NOT support any abusers whatsoever. And I feel for those who have been hurt. I also see from the others perspective and get why they’ve left. It is “the truth” not “the cult”.

I was raised initially in Victoria. They were nice people and I did not see any of the problems people talk about here. Mr Carol caused a bit of a problem when he retired and used workers to look after him but that and a new leader go settled. I faded away in it because I was not very religious and they were too restrictive on women but the idea of worship in the home good and and looking after the workers good.

It's not just the two by two's who operate like this. The Jehovah's witnesses operate the same way. They also go out in pairs. They also call themselves " the truth." and they also hide pedophiles and shun the victims of child abuse. I grew up as one of Jehovah's witnesses and I found that all these cults operate the same way

I was raised to pray, and read my Bible. And God has taught me that Jesus is the way and the only way. Anything else is of man’s doing. This church is not the only one to have pedophiles or to try to contain the problem within the church. The Catholics, the Baptist, the Mormons, the Jehovah witnesses the protestants. They all have this issue because they are led by man and man’s will. You don’t need a church to love God you show God you love him by doing what is right and just as he has done .

While I have heard preaching like this during the 58 years I've been a member, this example makes it sound like this recording's content is an example of what can frequently be heard at convention. It is not. I have attended many conventions - probably around 50. I've heard "the work" preached about maybe only a handful of times (that I remember). Typically, what is heard in a convention meeting or any other meeting is reference to certain verses or a story from the bible and then the rest is the speaker sharing whatever spiritual thoughts came to them from those readings. The focus is on Jesus, his life, his purpose, the lessons he taught and how we can work to be like Jesus in spirit. I simply want to add this bit of information to this recorded example. In format, it is similar, obviously made much shorter, since convention meetings are longer in time. I will add that I DO NOT defend or excuse my faith for any of the sex abuse scandal that is going on and that I'm just finding out about. That is reprehensible and is a dangerous, sinful cancer that MUST be eradicated from our faith. All victims must be embraced, protected and loved. There is no excuse for how my faith has handled SA matters in the past and currently. We MUST change.

What makes for a grabbing story line unfortunately requires skimming over the root of truths and shining lights on despicable behavior found in the hillside of humanity. This coverage is so slanted as to be worthless if one were really wanting to know about these people.

I am an ex-member. When I started asking about the backgrounds of the workers, without any answers, I dig deeper. I had twin daughters and I knew I had to protect them. So I left the church and shortly thereafter the rest of my life fell apart and my family was broken up.

What is a cult? I two was born into this faith and do not know where I'd be without it. I have never been molested or made to not make my choice of being in this faith. I left at the age of 15 or 16 but came back a while later. Not because I was talked in nor scared in but because I felt a void in my life. There is no name because Jesus said he is the way. Also back in the Old Testament days, Moses asked God whose name shall I say God said “I Am” so God's way. A cult has a Cult leader by name as in Jones Town, or you know many as I do. Many end in the death of the followers. Also if God wanted the ministry to be perfect he could have used the angles. But he chose men whom he created and knew their weaknesses. We all have human nature. Look around you. Absolutely pedophiles when found out are no longer in ministry and need to be dealt with. They are dealt with with the law. No longer be around children etc. May even do jail time. Whatever the law says. Many people who leave this faith leave bitter and say many things against this way. I am not agreeing nor approve of wrong doings.

So everything these people are saying is not true. You are not shunned if you leave and you can leave anytime you want. There are many churches with pastors who abuse members, this church is not on it's own in this.

I notice that those wee girls were allowed to wear shorts & pants. That is strictly prohibited, especially in Australia. I wonder, if in the sick minds of those leaders & predators, that made those children “fair game”. This is so sick, and the biggest sickness is the covering of this abuse.

This is never anything that I have ever heard in 42 years. This is all lies totally inaccurate. Never have I heard that spoken that if you don’t go in the work god will against you that is not even anywhere near scriptural and I have never heard such nonsense as this animated evil that I just heard in this site.

I was also raised in this cult in Washington State, USA. Went to meetings 3 times per week for the first 20 years of my life. I left the moment I left for college thank goodness. This is also happening right now. In March 2023, an overseer in Oregon died in a hotel room he was found to be raping under-age girls while frequenting hotel rooms.

This is so, so sad! My heart breaks for these women! I was raised in this religion, in the US and stopped going to meetings when I was about 16. I was never molested, thank goodness! However, I feel the religion, "The Truth" 🙄 , has played a part in some of my depression. Many people that I know that are part of this religion or are raised in it, battle depression. Unfortunately, most of my family is still part of this religion and I think it's sad. A few weeks ago, I heard whispers about this kind of behavior here in the US and how some people were leaving the religion because of it. I like what she said in the video, "They call themselves the truth, this is the truth. " They have done and covered up this and believe themselves above all other religions, faiths and man. They need to be held accountable for these actions. I find it funny that I'm the one told that I'm going to Hell. My father still gives me lectures on this and I'm 44 now. The producers started from their understanding of well-known cult behaviors and tried to work backwards to force-fit this particular church to the narrative. But it doesn't fit. Yes, there are very real issues, but "cult" isn't one of them. Too bad, because this messaging detracts from the very important message about CSA.
