I really is crazy how back when half life 1 came out people would debate weather you were playing as a man who snapped or intentionally sabotaged Black Mesa. Gordon Freeman was an action hero that you would aspire to be. Now, it's a much more grounded take sticking to the phrase, the right man in the wrong place. Now, after so many years I feel that it's this plus his quiet role that has made Gordon even more relatable. The community has done excellent work in showing this melancholic feeling of everything just going wrong and having to go through the motions. It fits very well with HL2's atmosphere and post soviet aesthetic. I am not complaining. Half Life is very dear to me. It's a game series that everyone should have a chance to play. While I'm glad that HL Alyx breathed new life into the franchise I am not really holding out to see HL3 anytime soon. In the meantime all I can say is thanks to this community for giving me so many reasons to remember why I love this series. Cheers!

Damn I hope they make a movie or TV show the series. I'd love to see how Gordon would be cast. I feel the dude genuinely would be quite traumatized from the Black Mesa incident.

I think Gordon is a chill guy to hangout with after work. But the events of Half-Life 1 has forever changed him. That scene of him shaking while drinking a soda speaks itself. It traumatized him. The killing, his coworkers, his friends, his workspace, gone with a flash. But in Half-life 2, Gordon is quiet and doesn't talk as much. But on 1:41. That is all he need... a hug. A warm embrace. That broke Gordon's silence. His facial expression at 1:48 speech more.

I love Your take on the Elevator scene, Honestly thought he was JUST embracing her before the end but using himself as a human shield for her is BRILLIANT

I love the idea that the only reason Gordon pushes himself as hard as he does in Half Life 2 and the episodes is because of Alyx, and that they actually have a romantic relationship. It pisses me off how Valve teases and hints at it so much but not much comes of it.

I never commented on such a video before but this is outstanding work. I like how you used a blend of Black Mesa and HL2 which creates continuity between both storylines. I also appreciate your take on the story as a whole. You used the little bit of information we have about Gordon and managed to portray a real character with your animation. I'm sick of all the 'subverting your expectations' crap, which usually means constantly putting people in horrible situation or make them horrible as characters. It often times seems to be more contrived then simply getting a happy ending. After all the crap he went through, just let him get the girl and enjoy life. Enough people died along the journey anyway.
