Friends of ANCHOR is a charity dedicated to supporting people in the north of Scotland who are affected by cancer or a blood disorder. Our support is freely available an delivered with compassion, care and hope.
Working hand-in-glove with the NHS, we take care of the ‘big little things’ - whether it’s a listening ear, a home comfort or a smiling face - and, alongside this wellbeing offering, we are equally committed to funding cutting edge equipment, pioneering research and clinical excellence.

Nikki's story, as told for COTC 2024

Nikki was diagnosed with cervical cancer in January 2023, and since them has aimed to spread awareness and encourage women to attend their screenings. The mum-of-one received brachytherapy, an internal radiation therapy, and is particularly grateful to Friends of ANCHOR's wellbeing support worker Lisa, who was at her side during treatment with support.

I am sure your mother was so happy to see you beat the cancer. I am sorry for your loss of your mother, but rejoice in your family working out difficulties so you are together. I know as a child of 15 it was hard to see my mother face cancer and to be 5 I cannot imagine. God does work good out of our pain as he did for me--I had mom for 9 more years before her blood pressure killed her (not cancer). May God keep the fun memories of your mum in the front so you smile often and laugh loudly--it truly does help our bodies.
