Warspite is a long-time wargamer from 'back in the day' (the late 1960s to be precise) with a passion for all types of history but particularly military, naval and combat aviation history.
Warspite posts as 'Warspite' or 'Warspite 1' on several websites including The Miniatures Page (TMP), Wings of War at The Aerodrome and on the Axis and Allied 'War At Sea' site at Forumini.
He is a former professional journalist and sub-editor, now retired, and he has recently self-published Bills, Bows & Bloodshed 2.2. These are a set of table-top wargame rules covering the late medieval period.
HMS Warspite is one of his favourite warships. HMS Warspite fought at Jutland, the Second Battle of Narvik, Cape Matapan and bombarded the D-Day beaches and Walcheran. HMS Warspite once hit an enemy battleship 26,000 yards away - a naval gunnery record for WW2.

Cheap battle mats in Lidl
Переглядів 2,8 тис.4 місяці тому
Previously reviewed a year ago the cheap wargaming mats (green grass only) are back at Lidl, UK, for £7.99. These are designed to be used as artificial grass on decking and balconies but the 'grass' is short enough for most wargaming applications.

A great night out in the East Sussex town of Rye where they really know how to celebrate the Protestant martyrs of the mid-16th century and the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605. They have long memories in Sussex! Wikipedia link here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sussex_Bonfire_Societies This link tells you more about the tradition that I can. Barry

Hadleigh Castle, Essex
Переглядів 2419 місяців тому
A very personal view of one of the earliest castles I ever visited. Hadleigh Castle in Essex is an English Heritage site which overlooks Leigh On Sea and Canvey Island. The castle dates from about 1215 but there may have been an earlier Roman fort in much the same area. However so much land has been lost to erosion it is now difficult to confirm earlier use. The castle was built by a supporter ...

Kett's Rebellion game was put on by New Buckenham Historical Wargamers 😊
I fear you may be right! I am going to check with last year's film.
@@warspiteschannel4817 I was helping to run the game so no need to check back 😁
I believe the Kett's Rebellion demo game was put on by New Buckenham Wargamers.
Indeed it was, New Buckenham Historical Wargamers.
Yes I have been told. Trying to work out how to correct it.
The Romans couldn't stay in Caledonia because they had too much on their hands keeping the peace south of the wall.

No need to apologise for another great event video 😊
Slow, but I finally got there! Thank you.
Great rundown of a quite excellent show! I made it on your video at 1.08 in my red t-shirt and belly!
I knew it was you! (I also lie) Thank you. W
Enjoyed the video, unfortunately you missed out the Indian Mutiny game, which won 'best in show'. It was an incredible game.
I agree but, as a disabled person, I can only get to so many tables at a big event. Someone will always be disappointed.
The show was the busiest yet with record attendance - 1384 through the door, plus all the Traders and Games organizers. The 600 free figures were all given away in the first 30 minutes :)
Thank you for that information. W
No probs - I’ve been coming to Partizan since about 1989 - pre Kelham hall days :)
Cheers for covering the Mentana Battle, it was Garibaldi against the Papal States supported by the French, you were actually stood next to the 5ft poster that explained it all 😁👍
Thank you! W
Well, I’ll see you all again in October!
Trust me, I am like the poor: "I am always with you". 😁
Probably the busiest Partizan I have attended. Excellent video as always. Nicely done sir!
Thank you. I took one look at the car park and thought the same... "Busy!"
omg so many gamers in one spot lol hilarious looks like every con I ever went to lol no matter we all look like this lol
Oh indeed! W
Great video…. However the Blitzkreig Persian battle are missing🥲 Appreciate time constraints but a video going round traders and models plus sneak peaks would be great
Thank you. I do what I can and I admit I did not get to every table! ☹
Good to see that you're back 😊
Thank you. I actually started filming Salute 2024 the previous month but then had to cut short and leave as I had been taken ill. There is a little footage of Salute but I am not sure if it is even worth posting. W

Thank you for compiling another most interesting show report. I find your video reports useful as they are not as rushed as some. Further, you stating the scale of the games is most useful, there were several I would not have picked except for you mentioning it.
Thank you! W
Noticed that you've not posted any videos lately. Hoping that you're well 🤞
Thank you. I have just posted my Partizan report (see my video stream). I had a few rough weeks prior due to health and life events but I am well now.

Thanks for a nice little video, been a few years since the last time I went to Cavalier, I simply forget it's on, shame really I'm only in Medway/Gillingham
Thank you. I came down from Norfolk and stayed with my daughter in north east London.
I have the version published by Ariel games, it has given lots of pleasure through the years too. I do like how you adapted it for Navwar ships with separate cards. I made cardboard counters for ex WW2 ships, to allow the embryonic navies to grow over the years, even with a yearly naval estimates controlling the budget.
Thank you!
