The Ashworth news is classic MUFC banter material
Get well soon Kyle!
It's hard to have an opinion free from bias in this debate. In general, there should be rules in place to endorse sustainability and financial security. The current model is probably not quite right but no idea how best to fix that. What I am opposed to is the apparent practice of using sponsors that are affiliated with owners to inflate revenue. I guess this will be one of the fallouts from the current trial
Some good heated debates this week! What are peoples thoughts on Tuchel? Good appointment or not? As for PSR, is what we currently have the best we can do for fairness?
No issue with Tuchel. He was available and arguably a better fit than any of the current Emglish managers. If Howe had expressed a desire to leave Newcastle, he may have been in contention, but Tuchel is the best choice for now
Tottenham get battered everywhere they go, Tottenham get battered everywhere they go, Tottenham get battered everywhere they go, everywhere they go...
GenreSpurs 😂 👍
Haha so funny. Spurs are rent free
Movement in the box at corners has always happened. Villa scored directly from a corner with a Villa player manhandling Ramsdale. Everyone said Ramsdale had to be stronger, goal was allowed and we all moved on. The crazy thing about Gabriel's goals against Spurs and City was watching 5/6 defending players just marking space at the front post knowing Arsenal have loaded the back post. At some point, teams will figure out what to do
When did Arsenal invent the dark arts? Loving it as we've rattled them
No issues with the Trossard second yellow. My issue is that the same ref in the same scenario with a player kicking the ball away a mere second after the whistle (Szoboszlai for Liverpool v Forest last week) wasn't penalised. Martinelli was running onto Trossard's pass btw
class calafiori goal
Yes it certainly was, very good way to score your first goal in the premier league
Really good finish and smart move from Arsenal
Full backs score some of the best goals don't they.
For the interest of 'fairness' and the inconsistencies of last years points deductions I think this year should just scrap that idea. I think Dean Henderson was a massive shoutout for keeper of the week and probably just overlooked due to conceding a goal. Definitely kept Palace in the game. Also Will Hughes was on a series of fouls before that 'second yellow' incident so it just added to that lack of decision. Arsenal fans pulled out a clip of Dermot Gallagher on 'Ref Watch' a couple years back discussing a similar incident to Rice and Veltman suggesting that the player in Veltman's position should have got a red for the kick. Further proof of inconsistencies in the decision making nowadays. It's always been like this mind, but with VAR decisions like this is just going to be scrutinised more.
The People’s Clothesline Has Spoken
Watkins is an Arsenal fan and felt bad for last season hence the two misses
Sorry Toon lads, it was a goal and it should have been a red. The Bournemouth lad tried to use his head and the trajectory of the ball looked clean. Fair enough, you need a cut off point to deploy the rules but we are in danger of over complicating a very simple game. Joelinton should have seen red as it stepped over the mark of a professional foul. He may as well have picked up the ball and run away laughing
That wouldn’t have been a red either though Rich. That’s a yellow card offence for hand ball lol
How can you watch that clip and think it's not a red card 🤣
@@LagoutFilms shut it you, 😂
Who are all these teams yous are talking about? Never heard of Chel's C or Man Chests her. Where's the premium content of the SWPL??? :D
😆
Chelsea are only 10 signings away from having a winning a team
Opinion...it is a red card as Schar was stupid to react. He will learn from that. In 35+ years of playing football, I never even considered pushing my head into another player. Diaz is a prick and will be vilified all season. Luckily for Newcastle they got the win and everyone can laugh at Southampton
Think Beckham and Simeone in 1998. One of the most famous soft red cards with Simeone appealing on his way down. Players have always had to be wary of dicks like Simeone and Diaz
@@richrangisco Spot on Rich. You can stand your ground without being aggressive about it. In most cases it's more effective
Arsenal are massive 👏
GO BIG GUN!!!
I didn't even realise there were additional options for extra points 😂
It shows!
Joined the league 😎
Well done Ryan
Enjoyed the 25 episodes of WMF even though you started with Arteta's "disgrace" meltdown. Looks like City will win the title again, but Arsenal have improved from last season. Ordinarily, winning every game this calendar year apart from one draw and one defeat would push a team to the title in most seasons. City haven't lost since before Christmas though. Chelsea are improving. Man Utd need a re-focus as they've had a poor recruitment strategy for years. Newcastle seem to have to sell someone so will be interesting to see how they recruit around that. Spurs are just Spurs with yet another manager questioning their inability to take the next step. Rivalries are fun, but certain clubs put more emphasis on that rather than improve their own positions. Are you taking WMF offline until the new season or will you have a Euro special?
They've got a plan. There'll be some off weeks every now and then, more details coming next week. Thanks for watching/listening! - P. K.
We're planning a season debrief, maybe extended chats about our clubs but the Euros will roll around quickly. I think there's a few wider issues around the game that merit discussion too
As for Chelsea, they should cash in on Gallagher. He will never be the player Chelsea need and someone will pay £50m for him
Spurs won the league in October. Big Ange won manager of the month 3 months in a row plus he won manager of the year at some award in February. They're shit though
Decent back 4? Conceded over 50 in the league and can't defend set pieces. Maddison has always been good for 2-3 months per season. They need to fund an overhaul but it will never happen with Levy
Only played 38 games. Not had huge injury issues compared to the likes of us and Man U/Chelsea either.
Quite clear that Woods was paid off to miss every chance 😂 Klopp probably said something like if you were ready on time then West Ham don't equalise. Benny Blanco knows his role and does it to perfection. The 1st half penalty claim for Spurs? Not a chance! Trossard doesn't deviate his path or make a move to do anything and Madison dived for the second time that half.
Benny Blanco lol, never heard that before, must only be used in Gooner circles. 😂
Whoever predicted 3-2 to Arsenal probably didn't expect Spurs to go 3 nil down and be gifted a way back by Raya's pass and Rice kicking Davies in the balls
As an aside, it is quite hard to read the predictions on the board
I'm disappointed that Newcastle conceded a goal against Sheffield Utd...and only scored 5
If a panel member misses a podcast, they should be made to wear the kit of someone else from the team. Send Mick a Chelsea or Man Utd top for next week
Bit harsh that one Rich 😂
I second this
If both penalties were given against my team I'd be livid. Gordon's play acting won the penalties. He isn't the only player to do it and I'd want commentators and ex-pros to call it out far more as it's almost WWE-esque when players tart about when they feel a touch. Back in my playing days, you'd have to be bleeding or have something broken before you won a penalty. On Arsenal, I was surprised at how dull the game turned out. It is a great result after losing 8 games in a row at the Etihad, but the way it has been portrayed has been hypocritical. Liverpool back in the driving seat and they've both surprised and annoyed me this season as they've never looked good enough all season
No one should be picking Maguire in their England team. He was full of mistakes against Brazil and has had his confidence completely destroyed over the past 12-18 months
Who would you bring along?
Totally agree Rich. He's a liability
What would your team be Rich?
Shaw would be in but unlikely he'll be fit for the summer. England shouldn't need two "holding" DMs so I'd take a chance with Rice with Trent pinging balls across the park. Foden has earned his right to start alongside Saka and Bellingham in what I think is quite a formidable front 4 with Kane. Trent's ability on the ball adds an extra dimension to that attack. Maddison is a great option off the bench as he is somewhat fragile to start every game in a tournament. Sadly, Pickford has been reliable and no other English keeper has stepped up. He also saves more penalties despite his T Rex arms. As mentioned, Maguire has had his time. Stones and Dunk should both be aided by Gomez almost creating a back 3 to allow Walker to overlap or push up to Rice allowing Trent to float around. I'd consider Toney for his nuisance factor and ability to get stuck in.
Good day, gentlemen Pochettino was never going to be a good fit for Chelsea. Arguably, Potter was a better option...until Boehly started going mental in the transfer market.
No time for rugby league. I'd rather watch Ameican Football and Ice Hockey (starting to understand the rules thanks to US colleagues although still not a fan of NFL). Anyway, keep up the good work. If you can arrange it, the 4 of you should record crossbar challenge or have a round of foot golf
Now that would be fun! Actually went to an ice hockey game with Dave just before Covid and it was pretty entertaining although as ever when watching sport with the Dave, the team we all wanted to win didn't.
Newcastle - they're at their best when they're aggressive. There was zero aggression on Saturday night which allows Arsenal to play. Having said that, Arsenal pressed high and locked Newcastle in their half. Trippier seems to have lost something this season too. The GK situation hasn't helped. Man Utd - the 23/24 season has seemingly passed them by. I still cannot see a play style that has evolved on from the LVG/Mourinho years. It is football from a bygone era. Is that ETH's doing or are there more issues with the club than we know about? Relegation - the points ruling alongside Brentford losing to West Ham has made it interesting again. If Everton escape yet again, I may lose the will to watch football. The Luton loss to Sheff Utd is looking increasingly worse.
I think Newcastle missed a trick by not selling Trippier to Bayern while he still had some value and nothing much to compete for this season. That may well come back to bite them.
On relegation, hard to look past the bottom two but everyone up to Palace are in trouble. Brentford, Bournemouth and Fulham will want more points to stay away from the scrap. Not going to lie; would be epic to see Everton get relegated. Is there any chance the 10 points deducted gets reversed as a result of appeal?
Everton v Palace is a big game on Monday
As Ryan is a Man Utd fan, is the current top 3 the worst 3 you could pick? Who would you prefer to win the league?
Good question ha ha
Celebration police - we could have a dvd of spurs celebrating wins this season. No issue with any team celebrating a win. Arsenal nullified Liverpool in almost every department. Arsenal have changed this season which has made them more difficult to beat but we have missed Timber and Partey. Quite clear they need a striker but not many out there who we can buy without falling foul of whatever the new FFP is called. Liverpool and Arsenal will have to beat Man City, although Arsenal have to play them away. Mourinho for Chelsea 😂 Enjoyable show once again
On Man Utd, hearing that Martinez is out for 8 games?
Villa spanked City but they were very workman-like against Arsenal. We deserved more from the game but takes the heat off us once again. We're not going to win every game and now Liverpool and Villa fans think "it's their year" 😅 Once again, enjoyable show. Keep up the good work
😂
I don't think Newcastle played well; PSG couldn't finish their chances. PSG were playing like a bunch of over-excited 5 year olds. As a football fan, I was disgusted with the penalty decision. VAR threw the ref under the bus. Arsenal rested a lot of players in the second half after securing the result. I would've taken Saka off at 4-0. Subject for next episode - sky have 70% of live games from 25/26. Are we edging closer to buying season tickets to watch our team on TV?
Thanks Rich, we’ll cover that next week
@campbellclark2988 keep up the good work. Enjoying it
It's not that I'm saying Newcastle played well against PSG, more that we defended well. Yes they had some good opportunities to score if not for Pope and a couple of good blocks. A lot of their shots came from outside the box as well. I think that could be a good discussion to have. Thanks for watching Rich and commenting
@michaeldolph8571 PSG looked like busy fools. Everything was rushed and lacked patience. Still a crap way to be denied a result and Newcastle deserved more
Ryan is still in shock and lying down after Garnacho's goal
Not so much Garnacho's goal as the fact we went on to score two more times, which absolutely is not allowed.
Tsamina mina, eh, eh. Waka waka, eh, eh. 60 million down the drain. Kai Havertz scores again
Tried translate to English but didn’t work. What you on about Rich? 😂
ua-cam.com/users/shortsPQJpcqTeeQk?si=qwRW9NpZX4mpiaGg
For future reference
The question you should all be asking is how will they give Big Ange MOTM for 3 losses in a row?
@@richrangisco that is a good question. It’s should surely be Eric Ten Hag or Dick Emery if it’s on results.
During commentary of the Chelsea v Man City game, it was mentioned that VAR didn't look at the Haaland penalty incident until after the original pull from Haaland. In my view, Haaland fouls Cucurella which is clear when watching the whole incident unfold. Every fan wants consistency but how can that happen when the things we argue about are subjective? Ball out of play, offside, goal line tech are all things which are black and white. Install all tech required to take all that indecision out of the game. Finally, Man Utd have done a Spurs and beaten Fulham, Sheffield Utd and Luton in October, all teams you'd expect them to beat. It's the manner of their performances that should be cause for concern. Another enjoyable show
Thanks for watching and glad you’re enjoying it. Agree about subjectivity.
Obviously it happened after or during this recording but I think the Udogie 2 footer was far worse than anything seen on Saturday. I'd also say that Newcastle's penalty at Wolves is a far more shocking decision than anything seen over the weekend as Schar (?) dived at the thought of contact. Keep up the good work
Thanks for watching and commenting! -Producer Kyle
