The Weight of the World ~ Emmy's 5-MeO-DMT Experience
In this episode of the Still In It Podcast, we welcome Emmy, a hypnotherapist with over 25 years of experience, to share her transformative journey with 5-MeO-DMT. Emmy delves into the therapeutic power of ego dissolution, her journey from traditional therapy to hypnotherapy, and the profound impact of her experiences at Enfold. Together, we explore the integration of her insights into daily life, the importance of safe and intentional psychedelic practices, and the challenges of breaking free from old patterns.
Key takeaways:
- The Power of 5-MeO-DMT: Emmy shares how this unique medicine facilitates ego dissolution, providing a direct path to spiritual and emotional awareness.
- Integration is Key: Insights gained during psychedelic experiences must be actively integrated to achieve lasting change.
- The Role of Hypnotherapy in Healing: Hypnotherapy can complement or even serve as an alternative to psychedelics by helping individuals access and reframe subconscious beliefs.
- Challenging Experiences Offer Growth: Not all psychedelic experiences are euphoric; even difficult ones can lead to deep personal insights.
- Set, Setting, and Trust: Choosing the right facilitators and environment is crucial for a safe and meaningful journey.
- Personal Responsibility in Healing: True transformation comes from within, requiring continuous effort and self-awareness.

    I'm curious, have you come across people experiencing Brahman consciousness with 5-meo-dmt? Not ego-death or union with the divine, not a white-out where nothing is remembered, not 'experiencing' nothingness, but total annihilation where nothing at all exists, including our own consciousness. It's taken me years to realise that is what happened to me, and is why the experience was so deeply traumatising. For months afterwards I was left with the visceral sense that the physical world doesn't exist, but everyone speaks about 5-meo-dmt leading to God (which I also experienced). I couldn't integrate the experience until I finally realised it can also lead to Brahman consciousness which is prior to all existence, even God. While the actual experience is quite literally nothing, it is terrifying to enter and return from, especially if a person is blasted into it with no understanding and the nervous system has not been prepared through spiritual practices.

      This is a really interesting point. Yes we have. You’re right that the nothingness can be really terrifying and hard to process without any understanding of what that space is. I appreciate you mentioning this.. gut be worth a video to discuss further.

    I had a full blown reactivation last night 6 months after my first bufo. When does it stop?

    • @enfoldinstitute
      @enfoldinstitute 2 дні тому

      It depends on what needs to be released and on how you’re processing the experience.. 6 months is fairly uncommon in our practice, but I hear that quite often when people don’t have the proper preparation and support and/or are dosed to high. If you feel stable day to day, you might try some somatic therapy techniques or breathwork to release energy from the body. Exercise can help a lot too. If you are having regular reactivations and still not sleeping well after 6 months I would recommend a good integration therapist. Good Ladybird integration .. she’s based in Oregon and is great.

      What we're saying is that not everyones experience is the same with this medicine. Reading into the "hype" around a particular medicine can build expectations about the experience, and your experience might differ. When it comes to 5-MeO, the "hype" is that it's purely a beautiful and blissful experience, when in fact it could be very challenging. There's a wide range of experiences with this medicine and it's important to know that before going into something this profound, and possibly life-changing.

    It’s a wild wild West out there. Appreciate these thoughts! There’s definitely something deeper to be explored around mainstreaming psychedelics to the pharmaceutical and medical models. As you said… these systems as they currently are, aren’t prepared to embrace and provide these medicines in a safe way due to lack of nuanced understanding on prep, integration and the enormity of this experience. IMP this proposed model will do more psychological damage than good.

    I agree with you Steve! Canadian too here and I have no trust in our medical system whatsoever. while there are much more complex and nuanced issues that could be brought up, suffice to see how they mismanaged the "pandemic policies" and the death and injury their product caused, or the sweeping amount of tax funded suicide caused by MAID (people need to know MAID kill with agony not peace) or simply look how they profit from all the harmful chemical on tobacco or how they mismanaged the Cannabis grey market and tax dollars. Anyway corporate greed and psychedelic don;t belong together. Can you tell us more or share link to what is the current agenda with bringing 5MeO to the forefront? these guys always taint what they touch. I wish things would stay stewarded organically by the people who care for it and those who resonate with the calling. I can tell you guys are putting a great deal of effort in care in what you do, and it is important to do this substance in a safe manner and have subsequent exposure to conceptual material that deals not only with 5MeO reports but the metaphysics in regards to CESSATION experience and school of thought on consciousness. Finally for any curious reading this, I would highly discourage trying a high dose without a sitter for the simple danger that you COULD shoke on your vomit, which is super easy to avoid if someone is ready to move your neck in case. I'd be interest to discuss more in PM someday!

      @drydenwatson2314 Місяць тому

      @@enfoldinstitute yeah i was sayin that synthetic is more lethal in much smaller doses than bufo. for example you can do up to 100mg of bufo maximum usually but synthetic is only a couple mg up to around 10. how much do you guys provide?

    • @steve_rio
      @steve_rio Місяць тому

      @@drydenwatson2314 I don't know of a lethal dose of synthetic 5-Meo, but I'm sure there could be one. The higher-risk thing would be to do a dose of lets say 40mg or something and have an exceptionally dysregulating experience. I don't think 40-50-60 could kill you though. And I'm not sure someone could physically consume more than that in a single inhalation. However for the record, I strongly advise anyone from consuming more than 20-25mg in a single dose, and most people don't ever need to go that high for a full embrace dose. And NEVER do high dose 5-meo without supervision. In fact, I'd never do it without a highly trained facilitator who understands this medicine.

    Hey Tony, I know what you mean in terms of coming out of there and then trying to figure out which books to read, and which practices to put into place in order to best support the integration process. It can be overwhelming. I just wanted to share some things that I found over this past year have really helped me since my journey. Perhaps one of them will end up resonating for you or your wife. Tara Brach - especially using her RAIN method. She has free podcasts and specifically one where she guides/takes you through the process. I read her books and listened to most of her podcasts and found them very helpful. The Core Transformation process, and Wholeness Work by Connirae Andreas. Perhaps you are familiar with those ones if you are part of the Coaching world. They can be very helpful in teaching us how to tap into that peaceful, beautiful place within us that is full of knowing. And working with the old patterns and things that come up that we feel we are ready to transform. Some people really like Joe Dispenzas. I have found some of his talks and meditations helpful too. Best of luck to you both, I trust you will each come upon the people and tools that will best serve you in this next phase. As much as you can, be gentle and patient with yourselves and just trust it will all come together. I am now in a place where I feel life just keeps getting better and more joyful. 🙏💗

    True, experiencing non-duality with a high dose of 5-meo-dmt is unimaginably profound. If you are on the intellectual side like me: - get to know about Carl Jung and the concepts of Self and Ego, - Trough meditation or other means, practice letting go As Alan Watts said: “You're under no obligation to be the same person you were 5 minutes ago.” - read about non-duality (ie: Baruch Spinoza in western philosophy, eastern philosophy such as Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta)

    "Death is not the end" - There is an urge to frame, to conceptualize, to Judge. Contemplate death, keep it as a constant companion until one day you might be lucky enough to notice - non-existence. Then you can let it be, realizing Death is a blank page in an imaginary book of dreams. To skip the page, fearful of what you are, is to be reborn. To cease, to recognize yourself as the stuff of dreams and dissolve, is the gift.

    Does a facilitator really need to have a cognitive framework that they use to interpret the 5-MeO experience or “what’s happening in this world”? That’s all just mental story telling, isn’t it? Also, since a person’s ideas about these things often change after experiencing this medicine, why should it matter whether they align with a facilitator’s beforehand?

    Yes to what you’re describing here. Experiencing a post-journey tightening of the ego’s grip, an insistent loop of negative thoughts about “my” life. And this insidious ego steals from me any ability to do anything to improve my situation. It’s unbearable. The only way to dissolve this madness, is to trick myself by doing something very small, simple and easy. Simply lying down and making myself do slow deep conscious rhythmic breathing. In for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4, repeat. It works. Surrender to the breath. Focus on the rhythm. This simple thing quietens and liberates the mind.

    In the spirit of a constructive dialogue, I offer my reflection after watching the video a number of times. I can appreciate your perspective on the use of 5-MeO-DMT, highlighting potential risks associated with quick and unintegrated experiences with the substance, often in what they describe as a "drive-by" style, where individuals don't have sufficient preparation or integration. The video's message seems to push for a more structured, prolonged, and facilitated experience, particularly in the context of an expensive retreat environment, while subtly criticizing less extensive and possibly less costly approaches. Here’s my breakdown of the situation: The message is both valid and concerning. On the one hand, they’re right to emphasize the importance of preparation, integration, and a supportive environment, especially when dealing with a powerful substance like 5-MeO-DMT. Quick, poorly integrated experiences can indeed lead to psychological distress, unresolved trauma, or confusion. However, it’s important that this cautionary advice doesn’t morph into fear-mongering, creating the impression that only high-cost retreats are “safe” or “valid” spaces for using these medicines. There seems to be an underlying marketing tactic here that uses a passive-aggressive tone-perhaps to instill fear about alternative (often cheaper) methods-while promoting their retreat as the ideal or only safe environment. This approach can create a false sense of exclusivity, where those without financial means may feel discouraged from seeking alternative avenues for healing or experiencing the medicine. Healing, especially with psychedelics, is not one-size-fits-all. While the structure and support of a retreat might be invaluable for some people, others may have profound and successful experiences in less formal settings, guided by trusted individuals or in more accessible formats. The affordability and accessibility of these experiences should not be gatekept, though the need for preparation and integration is universal.

    • @enfoldinstitute
      @enfoldinstitute 3 місяці тому

      Thanks for your thoughtful message. This is indeed a tricky situation. With certain psychedelics like mushrooms, we believe that a large percentage of the population (with nuances of course) could and should have very low-barrier access and can safely work with these medicines with friends, or in peer-led containers. When it comes to 5-MeO, we liken the experience to brain surgery, except that it's on the soul and the nervous system. I don't think everyone should be offering brain surgery. I don't think there should be brain surgery offered without proper preparation and aftercare. The risks outweigh the benefits. I get that on the flip side, accessibility is a challenging issue. I am concerned about the amount of people accessing 5-Meo in Tulum for $100. I do think that is incredibly high-risk. Besides the dysregulation, the rates of sexual assault and other abusive conditions are awful. We're in a position where we hear from people all the time about these experiences and how they have negatively impacted peoples lives. It's tough. I also know about many more experienced practitioners that are mid-range cost and refuse to offer any integration support. I personally question the ethics of that, but also understand the complexity of managing your time and energy with limited resources. In general, I think people need to understand that the stronger the medicine, the more preparation and support they should have in place. You never know when 5 is going to completely flip your world upside down. I spoke with a very advanced spiritual practitioner who spent over a year trying to recover from a drive-by five experience. He had to take a leave of absence from his work, and his entire life and health was disrupted. This type of experience is not rare. I wonder whether people could focus on less risky substances if they don't have the means to access proper support. And "the means" also includes what you mention: "less formal settings, guided by trusted individuals." Many people don't have access to such a thing. It's also a privilege to have a community of that has experience and knowledge in these areas. The majority of people out there have no idea how to find or assess the safety of practitioners out there. With time, the general public will become more educated and there will be a better framework of support resources (which is why we invest in making all this content). 5-MeO is still a very new medicine and should be treated with extreme caution and reverence. I completely agree with your last statement. There is no one-size fits all. There are many seasoned psychonaughts and spiritual seekers that don't need the amount of support we offer. I agree the accessibility of these experiences should not be gatekept as you mention. The reason we invest in all these videos and the other support content on our website etc (all free) is to support folks having less-supported experiences. This is part of our contribution to harm-reduction along with the research we're doing and the protocols we're developing that will eventually become public.We also work to create accessibility through scholarships and other means. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate the considerate dialogue. Blessings 🙏

      5-Meo is perhaps the one psychedelic that should never be done in high-dose alone. There are too many variables and safety risks.

    Your breathworks are the best I've ever done. You truly create inner journeys. These should have million of views. Will more sessions like this come?

    What do you recommend to keep this energy from the expierence? After lsd, the glow lasted for couple months, i wasnt doing much meditation and stuff like that, but the expierence was so intense, i couldnt throw it away. Thanks ❤

    I've had 4 full realeases with 5 which was life changing but, i do question if it can be somewhat of a hinderance as we really should be connecting to god naturally via absloute stilling of the mind but its taken about a year for this realisation since my experience with 5! I love to know your thoughts on this ?

      Both are important. If you only have the peak experiences without the daily practice, I think you miss the real impact that is possible.

    I didn't watch the video because your question is obvious. The answer is: As often as possible. Try to create as much free time as possible so that you are always in a different world.

      Why comment when you could have spent the time doing psychedelics?? 😁

    After 5-meo-dmt, even though I don't often meditate, if I did, for weeks afterwards I would almost go back to the peak unity experience which scared me. The original experience was actually traumatic as I just wasn't ready physiologically or psychologically to let go to that degree. Now a few years later I have started to meditate again and the same thing is happening. It seems this 'after effect' is unusual and I *really* blasted myself open. I'm not sure what to do about it, other than try to get over the fear of dissolution somehow.

      A great book to explore might be "The End Of Your World" by Adyashanti. It sounds like you're having a challenging time stabilizing an awakening experience. Also "Healing Kundalini Symptoms" has some excellent meditations and resources in it to help ground your experience.
