Choosing Plants For The Planted Bird Cage | PART 2
I have a 4 year old budgie with French Moult...but I didn't know he had french moult or even know about French Moult until last year. I just thought he kept breaking his wing feathers or had some sort of mental problem that made him chew on them too much. While still unaware of his condition, I adopted three other baby budgies, and not all at the same time. I'd say within months of and years apart from eachother. They all live in the same cage, and none of my other budgies caught French moult from the oldest one. The younger three are fine, beautiful and can fly, while my poor French Moulter can't because the feathers on his left wing just never grow in right. I read somewhere that the adults aren't contagious They are all pet boys, and I have no intention to breed.
How do your birds get SO tame and always come to you so well when it’s a group? Did you raise them from babies? We had one group one that loved sitting on people and getting on hands, didn’t roll around in our hands or anything, but when we have a group most won’t come to people or get on hands, they just stay wild. We enjoy them anyway though and are glad they have each other! 💛 But no way to handle them at all. I do think it’s important for them to have other birds though, much more fun for them.
Hi thanks for commenting! Most of my bird are either raised here or some are rescues. When I breed my budgies, weather its colony breeding or cage breeding, I tend to always handle them from babies when cleaning out the nest boxes every other day. This helps them get used to the human activity and sensation of hands as it may be weird to them... On the other hand my rescue budgies (the one in this video) she is unfortunately a non flying budgie. she always needs help with getting up from the ground into the canopy so I've always been on top of handling and helping her out when I'm around doing things in the aviary! She is one of the oldest in the flock! 🤩🤩
Great videos, thank you 💛 Congrats to your family
Thankyou so much! ❤
The bird clearly completely trusts you and is used to being held 💛 so sweet
Yes! This is another one of my rescues and he unfortunately is also a non flying budgie BUT living his best life for sure! 🙂🙂
Generally they do recommend going to an avian vet because it can be dangerous for a bird in a number of ways, people may hurt the bird by body compression while holding or hurt the beak etc. But interesting and thanks for the video. I trimmed a parakeet’s claws once very carefully and with no problems but they grew too curved after that. Never trimmed a birds claws before, never needed to. Also first time to have a bird with overgrown beak, making an appointment with avian vet. They say maybe file with emery board instead if you have to do at home?
Yes! this is why it is very important to know how to handle birds in these situations, weather its a budgie, finch, canary, cockatiel... I do agree with what you said about heading to an AVAIN VET but unfortunately most people don't have access to a qualified/professional avian vet and if they do, they don't have the financial capability to visit one... This is why I have opted to teach my self along with the knowledge of many friends and overseas avian vets and do it my self and also making a video about it... Regarding the emery board, YES, it is another good way to soften the sharp edges of the beak but you must make sure not to get the budgie tongue!!! You can also do it with very fine sand paper too...
Nice content keep going bro, I am wanting to make my own aviary soon
Thanks! really appreciate the support and hopefully your aviary goes well!
Thanks man it help me a lot because my bugie has a long beak so it cant eat thanks!
What heaters are you using brother?
Hey thanks for the question! In this setup I am using some reptile ceramic heaters which hang from the celling. I now currently use a oil filled electric radiator due to the larger space...
Boa mano🔥 continua ai forte. Abraço

Nature is beautiful, humans are destroying the nature. Please save nature.
My bird would abandon her eggs if she even saw something different about it...😭 (She was a very secretive bird when it came to eggs, and she was completely wild enough to where I couldn't tame her at all).
I have an 11 year old male and his nails grow like crazy. He squawks and bites the whole time and moves his feet so we can only clip about 2 nails. I'm amazed at how still your birds are🐦🦜.🐦
I have a female budgie that needs her beak trimmed again. The vet used a dremel tool, but the effects didn't last long enough. I have trimmed a birds beak in the past, but the beak and toenail areas do make me nervous. Thank you for this video
@@dalemorris7014 your very welcome! The key is to take your time and make sure you cut in the correct place without hitting a blood vessel! 😊😊
@@LucasFerrazvlogsanimals Thank you. I did it last night, and although she is mad at me, I did a good job. Much better than taking her to the vet every six weeks!

I also have a question❤ So i have a 2 week old budgie and sadly i cant feed it at night. Will the parents feed it or will they not because i handfeed it?. I also go to college so im thinking that the parents of the bird can feed it while im at college. When im back ill feed it . But Will they feed it or will they not?
Hi thanks for commenting! Most definitely budgies are not really the type of bird to reject their young. At least from my experience of keeping and hand rearing them. The parents will always feed their young whether it’s day or night. What you could always do is check their crop in the morning and see if there is any food that the parents might have fed in the night… 😊😊
@@LucasFerrazvlogsanimals What about when I'm at college? The parents will feed it right? OR Will they not because I fed it
When I come back from college I'll handfeed them
When I come back I'll feed😅
@@Tahiiiiiiiyaattt yes they should feed it. 😊😊
Hi. My budgie only eats white millet and rice. I'm trying to feed her different vegetables and fruits. She just keep it throwing around and not even like to touch it ! I'm truly worried about her. But she isn't eating anything except millet and rice. 😐😕😕
Hi! Thanks for commenting! I would try feeding her Boiled egg. Give her less than half boiled egg and see if she eats it. If she does, continue to give her boiled egg ever other week and then start introducing vegetables mixed in the egg… see if that helps. If you have a look at my video on soft food you’ll see how I do the boiled egg… Hope this helps! 😊😊
@@LucasFerrazvlogsanimals Thank you 😊 I will definitely try it. I hope it will work 😊

@@LucasFerrazvlogsanimals hi. I trying to feed my Tweety boil egg as you suggest but unfortunately she keeps it throwing up and not even eating anything 😒 I'm truly worried about it and gave her rice. What should I do now?! 😢
Is pot is necessary for new setupped non breeding bugies ?
This was extremely helpful….we are moving soon to Florida and the closest Avian vet is 1 hour away. Hopefully I will not panic if my green cheek conure breaks a blood feather and I will be able to successfully remove it for her. Thanks for the video!
You are welcome! Happy to have helped 😊😊
Unfortunately FM is usually caused by PBFD virus and not polyomavirus. My advice, as a veterinarian and a former budgie breeder with experience of FM: Loose all the birds born after you got the disease into the flock as these can become viral spreaders, even without symptoms. I am happy that you focus on hand washing, this is especially important if you are handling breeding birds and chicks. Be aware that nestboxes are a virus reservoir if you have it in your flock. Heat treating at 150 degrees Celsius for 1,5 hours will get rid of the virus in the box. Flameing with gas torch for 20 seconds is also effective (I think some reintroduction programs for parrots are using this on natural nests). As for disinfectants Chlorox and Virkon S is effective.
I got my first FM bird from a breeder. It did not have any signs of FM, but another breeder told me "oh,oh, did you buy from xx, she has FM". I answered: What is FM? And then all hell broke loose in my breeding room. I culled at least 25 chicks, stopped breeding for a year, moved the adult birds to a new breeding facility and then I got rid of it. But I used 100 liters of Clorox in the process.
Hello!
Hiii!!!
😊 I enjoyed seeing all the birds

The hoody and hand gestures.....mute the sound and play a rap song over it.....funny 😁😁
😂😂😂 Honestly 😂😂😂👌🏼
I have a question!! I got a 25 day old budgie and am trying to hand feed - but he's not very good at it! How do get him to actually calm down and want the food? He's eating seeds, flying, and doing well - but just seems to hate the hand feeding process! He bites very hard on my thumb as I'm using the syringe - and that seems to work - but it's painful for me!
Hi! ThankYou for commenting! If you have got a 25day old baby you shouldn’t really be giving it formula if it’s already eating seed. It’s normal that the bird will start biting and panicking because my guess is that he has never been had fed from a young age. Usually you hand feed budgies or any baby bird from a young age. Usually I start feeding mine when they are 8-9days old… Hope this helps 😊
Without this video I would of literally never of known what was wrong with my budgie, so it’s all thanks to you that my budgie is now better. So thanks a lot!!!
Aw! I’m so so happy this video has helped! That’s what the videos are for 🤩 ThankYou so much for commenting and supporting me and the channel! ❤️

How to force budgies for bath in fountain it self
Hi thanks for commenting! Never force bath birds! It has to be their choice! I usually put a bowl or fountain of water and leave it there for an hour or 2 and let them decide if they want to bath. It may take time because budgies are very picky/scared with things they are not used to but usually once 1 budgies tries it, the others follow along…
Thank you soooo much for being so specific. This was the information i needed right now.
Aw! Glad I could help! Is what I try my best to do. ThankYou so much for watching and supporting ❤️
This was helpful I have a chunky English baby boy ❤
Glad this helped 😊🤩
Hi Lucas, I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your bird videos and please keep making these amazing bird videos with the beautiful birds that you have, I currently only breed canaries but after watching your videos, I am wanting to start breeding budgies but not in an aviary, before I start I first just wanted to find out about something that is worrying me, so if I want the female budgie to only lay 1 clutch of eggs, after she has laid and the baby budgies are all grown up and have fledged from the nest box what do I do then if I don't want her to have a second clutch of eggs? I am just worried because I want to know how to get her to stop laying incase she just keeps on laying? Thanks Lucas
Hi Daniele! ThankYou so so much for you comment, love and support towards the birds, myself and the channel! 🤗 I am glad my videos have motivated you to get into budgies. Female budgies will only lay eggs for breeding if there is a nest box or some sort of dark area which they feel would be a great area to lay and raise their young. What I usually do when I want a pair to lay one clutch is I let the chicks grow until they flee the nest and then remove the nest box. This usually stops them from laying more and breeding. If they do lay egg whilst there is chicks in the box then just remove the eggs… Hope this helps out and if you have nah more questions don’t hesitate to comment and I’ll try my best to reply 😊😊
Hi Lucas, thank you so much for the response I really do appreciate it thank you. Sorry just another quick question that I have, so I have got a small aviary as well as 2 small flight cages, would you recommend that I put the budgies to breed in the aviary or rather breed them separately in the flight cages and then from there move them into the aviary once the chicks are all grown up and eating on their own? I look forward to your next bird video.
@@danieleliddi6677 Hi Daniele! I think if you want to have a successful breeding with budgies, put them in a separate cage. It’s better for them but it’s also better for you because like that you can monitor them closely. In the future I really do not recommend breeding budgies in an aviary because they’ll literally kill each other… Not sure if you’ve seen my colony breeding video done a couple of year ago but that will basically explain why colony breeding isn’t good in an aviary… ThankYou again for commenting and asking! I appreciate it and don’t hesitate to ask more question! Here to help 😉
Hi Lucas, thank you so much for the information I really do appreciate it, thank you and yes I did recently watch your colony breeding video and now totally do understand why I shouldn't colony breed and rather breed in separate cages, another quick question that I have, so once the chicks are old enough to be handled, when cleaning the nestbox, is it okay to handle the baby chicks and maybe play with them for a bit and then put them back in the nestbox or would it rather be better to not handle the chicks and just leave them in the nestbox? If I play with the chicks and then put them back in the nestbox, do you think that the mother will abandon the chicks because now I would of touched them or do you think it will be okay, that the mother will still look after the chicks even if I have played with them? Thanks Lucas.
