Also have this TT. Woud you say the Shure V15 is a great cart for this setup? Im using a grado prestige silver as i like the warm sound but it is an unshielded cart and does have some hum from the tt motor. Why i was considering putting on my V15. Was worried though about the loss of lowend with the shure. Lmk

I brought a set of these back from Okinawa in 1978 and I had the ability to listen in a sound room and compare them to the L100 Bose 901 and these definitely smoke them all I also sent back a Marantz 2330 a Tea Act 3300 SX oh and what a system I had you couldn't get that receiver over 12:00 with that rattling the windows and there was no absolutely no break up of the speaker with any genre that you sent through them awesome speakers I couldn't afford them at this point but oh my God like to have them back

I have an STA2200 sitting on a shelf. Ebay purchase, freshly cleaned, calibrated and recapped from the shop. I haven't even tried it out since recapping 2 years ago. It's mighty heavy at 50 lbs I believe.

Kind of amusing I JUST upgraded my ADS M15s last year and I STILL own a Strathclyde (STD) 305M. But I use a Dynavector 23R MC cartridge with a Grace 747 tone arm.

I own a pair of the RSL 3600 and I believe the RSLs sound better than those particular JBLs

These don't sound any better than my phone.

Treble was killing me on the jbl's. RSL's all day for me with this sample.

Something else people often overlook about this line of speakers is the cabinets. Pick any competing speaker of the time with a similar sized cabinet, the weight of the HPM series cabinet will be twice. Well braced, thick walls, two things which go toward NOT sounding like a box. They were underdamped in my opinion, but that's a 15 min fix, obv. Replace original driver, replace crossover and wires, mortite the new woofer, disable the HPM, now you've got an amazing pair of speakers, regardless of which HPM model boxes you got.

Beautiful unit! I’ve owned several Marantz receivers ranging from 2215 to the 2270 and I always go back to the 2238B. I’ve owned 4 or 5 of them. It is my favorite sounding Marantz that I’ve owned. There is something special about this model. At least to my ears.

I had a pair of M15/90’s for years and loved them. Best speakers I’ve ever had. Only sold when I downsized and didn’t have room for them.

You have some awesome test speakers. I like your setup. I’m rebuilding a 9100 as well. Left Trio TA-100 was shorted. Replaced all caps except for the main caps. The amp I was sent was extremely dirty. Once I removed the historical layer it was fairly straight forward. This amp is definitely not a service friendly amplifier. Deoxit is absolutely your friend on all switches and pots. Ended up doing 3-4 generous applications. All is well now. Had to order the pyramid replacement board for the Trio output ICs. Thanks for the video.

i have a model 2500 or 2600 thats like new. It hasnt been played 15 hours since new in the late 1970's. It also has a matching turntable and either 4 or 6 bose 901 speakers with a bose equalizer.There is also a dual cassette deck but i think it might be a different brand and bought after the stereo. What would that be worth?

Do U think this 2215B sounds as good as a similar Vintage Sansui in the same Pricerange?

The dials for the Tweeter should be or mids should be in the same value, I think that's why the difference in the highs

Pair it with a Dynaco tube preamp and the sound is just tits.
