This one's for my dad, store manager of 84 Lumber in Empire, OH when this song was on the charts, as it were. The guys voted it the official song of the lumber yard.

Found my "Autumn's Greatest Hits LP" that I bought back in the 60's. I bought it because I couldn't find the 45. Good album with all the artists on the Autumn label.

The vocal harmonies on this track were close to brilliant. Yes, it was like "When", but the vocals and enhanced percussion made it very atmospheric.

Does anyone ever notice how the speed is so off on this track?! There’s no way it was recorded this way and I can’t believe it was intended. Speed it up to its proper key of A and it’s a killer track.

I used to listen to this song as a kid on KYA radio in the Bay Area when it came out. It was such a good song. It still lives!

Both recorded on July 18, 1966, "Go and Say Goodbye" and "Nowadays Clancy Can't Even Sing" were the first two single songs studio-done by B'Springfield, released two weeks later (August 1966) to Los Angeles radio stations, got lots of favorable audience airplay. The rest of the album's original songs were recorded in August and September 1966.
