I am not actively playing right now, so my opinions might carry little wight, but I like the new direction the devs are taking.

I don't have time to finish the video for a few hours and I'm only 8 minutes in, but on the story I have to agree. We have the intro cutscene which ends off with Julian (who if you haven't read the E-Novellas or codex you don't know his name) saying "What in gods name have we done?" as a stormgate opens. Then it skips 20 years later. So if you haven't read the codex or E-Novellas, all you know is some demon things are invading, and probably have been for the past 20 years. So the first mission is going to have infernals, right? Nope, its human scavengers who you have no reason to know about or what their lore is yet (even now we don't really know) and then finally theres one demon. Just one. He's big, sure, but those winged guys were absolutely flooding out of the first stormgate, why aren't there more, especially of those (the shadowfliers)? Then later when you read the codex you're like "oh, that Julian guy closed the Stormgates which I guess also were appearing all over earth and not in one place, meaning that there is likely a lot less infernals still on the earth. Sure would've been nice to see that, wouldn't it?" This is just my opinion, but I really think the first mission should be right after the stormgates opening. Maybe a short nobuild mission of some survivors escaping a city with shadowfliers and fiends everywhere, then cutting to Julian closing or having closed the stormgates and dying (so that it's actually in the campaign and not just a codex entry). That idea I had could have room for a lot of worldbuilding and helping you understand things and why they are that way after the 20 year timeskip. Could show how dangerous the infernals actually are by having the group you control occasionally encounter small groups or solo fiends which deal large damage, but instead, its almost just nothing.

I like when we can see more unit variety like this.

Even in a map this big the base raids start at 3 minutes. That is scarily fast.

Haha the no tier 1 units was literally my build, so you're not mistaken! I still do it every once in a while, when you see mass exo I usually throw in plague axes tho. Thanks for cast, that was a fun game.

Glad you missed the 8 imps standing idle until 5:30. In my defense it was 3 AM and I'd already had some drinks before I realized the qualifiers were about to start :D.

Short but intense

When I first described celestials to someone, their immediate concern was that all CvC matchups would look like this. I will say that it hasn't actually been my experience that it's that common at mid levels but it has become increasingly popular in tournaments. Something of a shame as CvsC lategame has some pretty interesting battles but high level games almost never get past ardents

It's always good to see when things like this are in the game even if they're unlikely to happen in a tournament setting.

I think lancers might've at one point had been considered to use a lance but then didn't for one reason or another, I'm guessing it just wasn't as cool as other concepts. Also, Lancer just sounds better than Glaiver (since I believe they use glaives) so that might be why the name is still that. Could also be one of those things where in the lore the etymology could make sense where due to some apocalypse or another they lost proper history and made mistakes in trying to rebuild and get the history back properly, might not be though.

This might be my favorite match so far on the current patch, I think I just really like the tier 3 games, as well as ruination being my favorite map right now

I did have a boneyard IvV submission before so maybe you were thinking of that. I think it had a bit similar battle around the vanguard forward base. Unless you watched this replay earlier without casting it I don't think you saw this before... probably. Thanks for cast!
