Hi, What areas do you cover?
all london
@@antanasmastaras795 Cool. I can't see a website or contact details, I'm looking for someone to do a boiler replacment job in South London. If you let me know how to contact you, I could get you to quote for it
The manufacturer should mark top and bottom. It happened to us the wrong way round. You have to drain the radiator shut valves off the wall and swing it round.
I'm always interested in updating my skills.Thank you.
You are welcome!
Hi, @antanasmastaras795 where are you based? Can you please fit this for us. I'll be buying the Harvey twin home system from a dealer but they don't provide fitters.
Where are you based ?
@antanasmastaras795 Thanks for taking the time to create this highly informative video and for sharing your expertise, I'm only a DIY'er but I learned a lot from watching the professional at work. You mentioned the importance of checking that the correct regen gear wheel is installed depending on the water hardness to prevent too many/too few regenerations. Do you know where I can find a lookup table for this? I bought a used Harvey softener which currently has a 30 tooth gear wheel (for regeneration every 750 litres I think) and I want to check that it's the correct one for my 320ppm water hardness. Thank you again!
how the hell did you drill through the walls to get behind the toilet cistern? that would be worth a video on its own!
I had to get a spanner on my byoass to turn it and ive only had the unit about 2 years😂
Romford, East London. I cover up to 50 mile radius
Where are you based in UK? I need you to come and help me install Harvey water softener because your knowledge is immaculate 👍🏽

Great video, got a few good tips, like insulating the high flow softener pipes with insulation and the Super Grips attachments. I do have a question about feeding the heating tank, am I correct in thinking you didn’t supply soft water to the tank? Doesn’t that mean the hot water won’t be softened? So that would mean the shower head’s would be getting hard hot water? I installed mine specifically so it softened the hot and cold to stop the shower head nozzles blocking up. We also have a tank for the hot water, but it works in reverse, the communal central heating feeds the tank and central heating ring, the cold softened water runs through a coil in the tank picking up the heat from tank.
The hot water storage tank is supplied with softened water. There are only 3 things that are excluded from the soft water: heating system, garden tap, and drinking water tap. Hope that helps
@@antanasmastaras795 Antanas, you will be reassured that softened water can now be used in heating systems. British Standard 7593:2006 Code of practice for treatment of water in domestic hot water central heating systems has therefore been revised to allow the use of any supply waters, including artificially softened water, in central heating systems (including those with aluminium) provided an appropriate corrosion inhibitor is added.
@Michael Tinkler From my personal experience as a gas heating engineer with 25 years of experience, I can sadly say that artificially softened water in the heating system is not a good option. Dispite adding inhibitors the water after a while becomes discoloured(like tee) and causes slightly higher corrosion than hard water. Also, don't forget that softeners do malfunction more frequently than we wish and if regeneration has failed and post washing is not completed you could end up filling with pure max concentration of salt your heating system, which ultimately would be death sentence to the whole entire heating system without you even knowing it. Today, manufacturers like Worcester Bosch and many other boiler manufacturers require heating system to be filled with hard water, and if it's filled with artificially softened water it will invalidate the boiler's warranty. Also, sadly from my experience the artificially softened water causes more pipework leaching then hard water, which is another thing very little independently researched. At the end of the day each heating engineer can do their own research and choose whatever they prefer, but personally myself I would never use the artificially softened water in the heating system. I don't even use inhibitors anymore, because after trying for the last 5 years German VDI2035 water treatment for heating systems it's much better results then widely used inhibitors in UK.
