    Hi, we used cromapol on our Vauxhall movano roof after watching ur video. The leaks were coming in from the holes created by the previous owners removing a roof rack and not filling the holes. Our van is white but the eBay twernts sent us black but we used that anyway since we won’t see the roof! That repair has lasted just over 2 years but it started leaking again last fri while on a weekend break but as soon as we got home this afternoon we dug out the trusty cromapol and chucked a load over the area where the leak was (rust has formed around the original holes so it was easy to locate where it was coming in from) the CPL has now set, so fingers crossed it’s fixed again but I just wanted to ask your advice is there a more permanent fix we can do ourselves to avoid paying out for a garage? How about fibreglass?

    I just fixed mine. Leaking in the same place. The caps at the back of the splines were bursted and the oil coming down the sleeve and out around the shaft. The seal only seal the outside of the spline shaft. Someone had stuck my drive shafts in with sealant. Nitemare but very fixable 🙂

    A good tip, use slightly thicker gear oil... if u use thinner stuff it may come out of the seals... i know....done it.

    Hello again so sorry to be a pain. I’ve done the roof with cromapol (they sent the black not the white) but I’ve had negative comments from people who are saying it will come away in heat in summer? Please tell me this isn’t true because I did it yesterday and we had heavy rain last night and it’s worked. It’s all dry inside

    • @jamesratcliffe8093

      It will not come away I did my shed roof with the black. over a year ago and we had some very hot days this summer it's been fine. Don't worry

    This stuff was a game changer, I had previously changed all the seals, re did all the rail seals and still kept having a leak which just appeared on the top of one of the windows in my office converted caravan. I suspected it might be a slight crack in the fibreglass but could not find it no matter how much I searched and tested. Followed this video and the leak is gone. Have already recommended to a neighbour who has a leaking garage roof and he has used it to fix that. Truly great product.

      I’m not bothered about what it looks like, only police helicopters can see my roof lol. If I bought 10 litres of this stuff and layered it on over the whole of my van do you think the leaks would stop. It’s getting on my wick now. Would you ring me later to talk me thru it

I did it yesterday and it rained heavily last night and I just checked inside and it’s bone dry. Someone said it will crack off in summer when it gets heat on the roof? Are they correct? Hi Mike Thanks for the info,can I ask is there a reason why yo did not use a roller, also what was the size and strength of your paint brush please. 🐧🐧

      @MrMikesx13 3 роки тому

      It would be like trying to spread treacle with a roller, it doesn't roll. The best paintbrush for this is one you're happy to chuck at the end of the job but I used a normal emulsion brush and I guess 3"

    • @tubeyou0925
      @tubeyou0925 5 років тому

      The problem was really really simple. It was just a lifter... could have pulled one from the junk yard, also possible the cam lobe was worn in the process, but still a really easy top end job.

  • @arwinbos
    @arwinbos 7 років тому

    Hi Mike, Did you open-up the old engine? I'm curious to know whether it was a hydraulic lifter or something else, since a friend of mine has exactly the same noise on his saab! (2.3T ecopower)

  • @MrMikesx13
    @MrMikesx13 9 років тому

    Bought a replacement engine, almost finished fitting it, will open up the old one at some point to see what happened, there was an awful lot of swarf in the sump though so something fairly catastrophic I think!
