Yes, that is what local markets sell them for when they are in season. They also sell whole Bunya nuts at $25. Whether they all get this price I don't know but I don't think it is a regular produce that ends up in the supermarket. It is "Bush tucker".
I never seen one or taste one but I dont believe this will taste same as pine nuts
They do Tom, only they are creamier especially when you cook or roast them.

We tried this with a cone from a Bunya Pine, but there were no nuts inside the shells?
There are two possibilities that this can happen. Most likely the cone came of a tree that stands alone or with only one other Bunya nut tree. The bunya nuts only mature when they are in a group of trees. Other possibility is that the cone is not mature enough.
@@MariodeGroot Are you suggesting that this tree needs other trees to pollinate and give nuts?
