Here's what a cracked BMWK75RT crankcase breather hose looks like. This one is 20 years old.

Replace breather hose on a 1995 BMW K75RT. This hose cracks and leaks over time and lets air into the intake. The Motron engine control computer doesn't get data on this intrusive air and as a result cannot operate the fuel injectors correctly. This results in backfiring when you shut the throttle off. This applies to all BMW K bikes.
thanks for these, did you notice anything on the motor because of the cracked tube? Looks like mine is cracked and I'm getting some backfires etc, perhaps its related to foul air intake through the tube? I guess for you the air also first goes through the air mass flow meter for the ECU before it enters the airfilter?

Actually, I don't have any plans. I'm still riding that excellent K75RT but it's in good repair and hasn't needed any significant attention. BMWs go a long time between jobs like the spline lube so there aren't many opportunities to make videos. I don't run a repair shop; it's just my own bike that I was working on. But if I do have a significant job to do on it I'll remember your kind remark and film it as I go and add it to my UA-cam videos. It's fun and it's a good way to exchange information. Don't you love the 21st Century?
