Tribute to composer Loonis McGlohon. Loonis McGlohon Theatre, Charleston, NC.
Always entertaining and professional. Love you, Scott. Those were the days, my friend.❤
❤
Love the spin where Scott holds his arms down by his sides!!!
Honestly, who doesn't love Scott Hamilton? He brought more to skating than any jumps or spins ever have. I loved every performance he did.
What an expression of beauty to this great song.
I loved this, but I wonder if they would even allow him to use that music now...
Totally totally awesome!!!❤❤
It gave me goosebumps and made me feel proud to be an American again - the first time in over 4 years. I'm heartbroken to feel we are throwing away the country we fought so hard create. Can we, as citizens of our Republic, rebuild this amazing country?? I honestly don't know.
Powerful Scott, love you love you love you, I so wish I could hug you. So proud of my spiritual older brother.
Hallelujah! Great job Scott
An moving performance by an amazing champion. ⛸
What was the name of this guy? Been looking for ages!!!
The guy's name is ... Chas Elstner. I had also been searching for this bit for a long time. This isn't the same performance that I was looking for, though. In the one I'm still searching for, he does something different -- and way more hilarious -- when the kettle drums play. But now you know.
Look at the way he represented everyone of those lost skaters we lost that frightful night. Beautiful and patriotic!!
NOT MANY OF US KNOW THAT NOW
What's the story behind this performance?
@@kristinewithak3616Sabena Flight 548 was a Boeing 707-329[1] flight operated by Sabena that crashed en route from New York City to Brussels, Belgium on 15 February 1961. The flight, which had originated at Idlewild International Airport,[2] crashed on approach to Brussels Airport, killing all 72 people on board and one person on the ground.[3] The fatalities included the entire United States figure skating team, who were traveling to the World Figure Skating Championships in Prague, Czechoslovakia.[4][5] The precise cause of the crash remains unknown; the most likely explanation was thought to be a failure of the mechanism that adjusts the tail stabilizer.[1]

I would love to have met her, but she is gone and will be missed.
R.I.P.
I had never got into Marlene Verplanck music but ever since I read on Music Choice about who she work with she also worked with the legendary Hall of Famers kiss so I said okay I'll try me some Marlene Verplanck and now I love me Marlene Verplanck now I'm dying to collect some Marlene Verplanck when I go to bed and I'm watching Comcast singers and swing I said before I go to sleep I better see some Marlene Verplanck sometimes I do and sometimes I don't I get disappointed when I don't but when I do I sleep like a baby a baby goo goo
I hope she continues to make another record but if she retires I will respect her besides she is the wife of Robert Verplanck that's why I want to know what was her birth name before she got married
Ladies and gentlemen the one the only Scott hamilton
Amen. You got that right!!!
Great backing too..!!
What is the name of the music in this video?
Can't get any better than Marlene and Billy ! I love this song so much.
The way the music was meant to be sung. Love her music.
This is one of my favorite singers with a great song. Can't get any better than that.
Absolutely gorgeous version! Bill Eckstine had a big hit with this and Marlene does it full justice.
OOPS! That city is Charlotte, NC, McGlohon's base of operations until he died in 2002. Check out his bio: "Loonis! Celebrating a Lyrical Life" (2004).
my all time favourite performance by Scott. Very stirring!
Marlene Ver Planck is a national treasure and what a great rendition of Loonis McGlohon's classic - Great!
You just gotta love her! A SUPER TALENT
he chopped out most of the song...now the MTC deserves better...they are God's choir
THE BEST! PERIOD.
Great Skater and A Wonderful Song
Marlene Ver Planck is one of the best friends the Great American Songbook has ever had. She knows the music and her enthusiasm and love for the standards are passed on to her adoring audiences. She's just the best!
Has anyone got a video of her peerless interpretation of 'The lies of handsome men'? Sublime version.
Pure class.
She worked with Sinatra on his 'Trilogy' album; why, oh why didn't he ask her to sing a song on either of his 'Duets' albums? Marlene is different class from the pop vocalists who murdered his songs.
The voice of an angel.
She is fabulous.
Thanks for putting up these videos of the great Marlene. This is the way songs should be sung.
Marlene sounds lovely, Yes we do need more video from Marlene. Congratulations for showing other vocalists how it's done with great material. Roseanna
