The Chemistry of Life Processes Institute (CLP) is where new cures and better diagnostics begin. CLP brings together world-leading Northwestern University investigators across a wide array of disciplines to accelerate the pace of biomedical discovery for the benefit of society. Chemists, engineers, and physicists team with life scientists and clinicians to change how we diagnose and treat cancer, cardiovascular and kidney disease, infectious diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and addiction. Their efforts are built on extraordinary tools for discovery, analysis and visualization developed and housed within a unique ecosystem designed to support the integration of expertise and methods across many scientific disciplines. This transdisciplinary convergence of knowledge is creating new fields of research that will have a long-lasting impact on human health and disease.
Neil L. Kelleher | HUPO 2024 Plenary Talk
On October 21, 2024, Neil Kelleher introduced HUPO 2024 attendees to the Human Proteoform Project, a big science initiative to capture the Proteoform Dynamics of Life in our bodies with complete molecular specificity. This will involve determining, to a defined depth, the proteoforms present in cell types and fluids across the human body. These advances will spawn new technologies and grow demand for proteomics across sectors; align ramping public & private sector interest; and transform the utility of protein-level biology in drug and diagnostics discovery for the benefit of all.
