In the third season of The Chosen, Eden and Simon went through the death of their child-before Simon even knew that Eden was pregnant. Even though this isn't part of the scriptural record, it's powerful.
Eden and Simon saw the miracles Jesus was performing. They knew His identity as the Messiah. That's why they didn't understand why Jesus would allow this to happen.
