This film was amazing. This is my favorite Jim Bowie death. In real life Jim Bowie was to sick to fight and was killed before he could grab his knife and pistols. The Alamo has not been on film since 2004.
It is an amazing film. However, there is NO EVIDENCE that he did or didn’t grab his knife and/or resist with pistols. I’ve been thru this debate many times and there is just as credible evidence to say he resisted as he didn’t. There is one thing for certain. Jim Bowie has historical precedence on his side that if he could, he resisted.
Your video title is too short, like, a drill sergeant shouts three words, but what the hell does it mean?! Is your yacht named Hurricane?
@@voornaam3191 its not the boat name. Boat name is Silver Eagle. It was a hurricane approaching.
Great info!! Thanks for the video.
@@SailorChic I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Good video Need to get a beer next time I pass thru the coast
Stupid show
Oh boohoo
I suppose you also "taque" upwind too?
Yes, upwind may be called beating.
Good idea misspelling Gybing or to Gybe as that was what drew my attention or was this video meant to be an insult to everyone? If you really wanted to demonstrate proper sailing procedures, try a day when there is enough wind and do not leave your glasses and especially the winch handle lying around, on a good ship, everything belongs in it's place. Hope you don't think that I am Jibing you..
Is it gybe or jibe (sometimes misspelled as “jive”)? There is no difference between the definitions, just a difference in spelling. It's called a jibe in US English and a gybe in UK English.
Cheers man, great format for an instructional video. Grinning from ear to ear.
Thank you Patrick. I want to make it an enjoyable atmosphere. I have more to follow.
See you out there on the 1 whistle cap
On the port side
More sailing to look forward to.
What a crock of shit !
Hahahahahaha
1955 THE LAST COMMAND STARRING STERLING HAYDEN.
What movie is this clip from?
THE LAST COMMAND
Ms. Kitty had at least one crooked card game in the episode titled "The Prisoner." She got in a card game with an awful bounty hunter and dealt from the bottom of the deck and some other shenanigans to win the game because she was playing to take over the bounty of the prisoner so Matt could help him get a fair trial.
Damn Americans were ruthless tough mfs back then gezz
Bowie most probably put up some resistance probably got off a shot since it is said he was shot and bayoneted. After being bedridden with virtually no medication for days he had to be weak .
Matt was a great man at doing his job!! None better!!😡👍
Heavy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Historically, Jim Bowie killed 16 mexicans with a misfired pistol and a bowie knife while dying from pneumonia.
That baby she holding is My sister Amanda
Really????? Did she ever act again??
@@bowiehamilton9888 my name Brandy her Name Amanda we from delrio Tex and my dad he played extra one of the men that was fighting ...she baby in bed when I little I remember playing while they was filming we had other kids there.. she never did but she can sing she just danced in our home town..

This just about sums up what Gunsmoke was all about.
@:40 Damn... that cannon blast at pointblank range only took out three guys. That's some shitty grapeshot. It should have torn everybody in that doorway into a fine, red mist.
Although I do agree at the alamo they ran out of grape shot and used what they had. Nails coins. Anything that would go like a shotgun blast. Even still it would have killed a lot more people
I literally thought the same thing 😅
They were and still are the hottest couple on TV. The greatest love story behind closed doors!
Agree
From wich documentary is this??... Is there a full version of it??
Yes. It’s called “Real West, The Battle of The Alamo” It was hosted by Kenny Rogers. It’s an hour long and fantastic. I prefer it much more than the 2 hour 2004 “Remember The Alamo” documentary. You may be able to find the Dvd on Amazon or ebay.
Such BS!!!!!
Not much detail there.
@@bowiehamilton9888 And the brass backed Bowie shown is a well known fake in the collecting community.
There is no such thing as a Brass backed Bowie?
@@bowiehamilton9888 That is a fact. Show me a “genuine” antique please.
Supposedly Jesse Robinson’s knife was used at The Battle of Concepcion. It had a brass back virtually identical to the Musso Bowie Knife.
That's how a man Dies The Spanish lost a lot of men that day too
Mexico you mean?
@@LeftBlankIntentionally No I meant it just the way I said it
@@oldcountryboyIt wasn’t Spain they were fighting though lol
@@Mondolfo17 You do know that Spain conquered Mexico They killed most of the people there and took over the country So yeah they were from Spain🤔🤔

costumes seem to be a rather modern for the time including the hats
Really? I don’t know about all the characters but Sterling Hayden’s hat was accurate. I don’t think hats in the 1830s had the dimples on the crown, which Hayden’s doesn’t have. The hats in Texas Rising were surprisingly wrong. Dimples on most of them.
Actually, these costumes are pretty accurate.
Those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword Maybe it refers to aggressors!
Kinda like saying those who jump in a river to swim will get wet. Could go from either side of the conflict.
She finally realised this SOB is gay!
Well... Propaganda has made us believe that at the Alamo, they fought for: Texas, Liberty and Independence. But, the reality, those who fought and died at the Alamo were NOT originally from Texas. All of these people were citizens from Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, from Mississippi, and Carolina. They were all SLAVERS. All of them invaded the territory of Texas that then belonged to Mexico. None of them had the Right to claim Independence, cuz none was originally from Texas. But in addition, they were ALL Criminals wanted by the Law. (Jim Bowie, was a Mercenary and wanted for double murder). Therefore, all of them were PIRATES who had nothing to lose. To understand this act of Piracy, let's look at Ukraine: Russian citizens claimed the territory of Dombass, and Russia recognized its "Independence". In reality this is nothing but ROBBERY to the sovereignty of Ukraine.
Not one thing you said is accurate.
Bowie: I'm Jim Bowie Everybody: Ok, We won't mess with you.
Miss Kitty always scared me
😂 Lol... Yeah, I think one would have to have some kinda psychological imbalance IF they did NOT get THAT from the classic Miss Kitty 🔥 By this latter year/episode era especially. And she still could look pretty darn good with ALL the extra make-up for the part etc. But, she was a stone cold smokeshow in the 1st 10 seasons 🥵 🔥🔥
Name of the episode?

The Badge
Where Kitty leaves again and joins Beverly Gardner at her saloon in another town, run by what? Another crooked "dude" 😎.. But yeah, didn't matters how many times we had seen the same story by this era? THESE actors, and the stories were sooo darned good, it didn't matter...It WAS ,THAT good...😏🤘🔥🤘
I will give Jim Bowie the credit he deserves he was not impressed by Santa Anna and he was not afraid of it and he died knowing he was not impressed by it
James Bowie was a mercenary and criminal from Kentucky. Wanted by Missouri Law for two counts of murder. In fact, everyone who died at the Alamo, were NOT originally from Texas. (David Stern Crockett, or "Davy Crockett", was directly involved in the "Indian Removal Act", which meant a GENOCIDE for the Native Nations of America. Crockett was in charge of "ending" the Cherokee Nation and the other Nations from Tennessee and Mississippi). Therefore, all of them "Alamo Fighters", were PIRATES who had nothing to lose. To understand this act of Piracy committed here, let's look at Ukraine: Russian citizens claimed the territory of Dombass, and Russia recognized its "Independence". In reality this is nothing but ROBBERY to the sovereignty of Ukraine.
James Bowie was not perfect but he was not wanted for murder. If so, perhaps you could give a source.
All the movie depictions of the fall of the Alamo leave out the fact that the Mexican assault began between 3:30 and 4:00 in the morning. It was pitch dark, and the Mexican assault columns were over the north wall before the defenders were awake to the fact[the six day bombardment wasn't meant to breach the walls or kill the defenders, it was meant to deprive them of sleep]. A good portion of the Texian garrison tried to flee through the palisade by the chapel and were run down and killed by waiting Mexican cavalry[which is why the pyres upon which the corpses of the defenders were burned, were outside the Alamo]. The only artillery in the Alamo that fired were the two 12-pounders on the platform at the back of the chapel. Dickenson evidently fired them at the Mexican cavalry, trying to help the men fleeing along the Gonzales road. According to the Mexican accounts, the guns only fired two or three rounds, probably because they were short of good powder.
The Alamo 2004 shows the early morning/still night assault.
It's called "Hollywood license", very little to do with historical facts, the only facts in this Movie was Jim did die, and, the Alamo WAS lost...
@@michaelashcraft8569 somewhat true but not completely. Much of the movie was taken from Walter Lord’s “A Time to Stand”. The death scene of Jim Bowie is taken from secondary accounts or primary if Madame Candelaria is believed. There were at least two accounts of him being given two pistols. We do know that Jim Bowie was very aware of what the Red Flag and then the Deguello horn meant. From the historical precedents of his reactions under life threatening pressure, there is very little doubt he resisted if awake.
@@michaelashcraft8569 You are are correct on all the points you made!
@@bowiehamilton9888 I'd say a last stand makes since, the man had been in knife fights before, that face to face personal combat, if you are willing to engage in it toughens you up.
Richard Widmark's gutteral death rattle as the bayonet's peirced him in " The Alamo" was far better.
And totally inaccurate. The best ,and most accurate performance was by Jason Patric in the 2004 film.
Agreed
He was convincing as Matt Dillon. As Jim Bowie, only Richard Witmark was less convincing.
Who would you say portrayed Bowie well?
Sterling Hayden seemed to naturally walk right into the role.
Bet that left a mark
Kind of like what's going on in Ukraine right now.
It’s clear from history what happens when a junta gets enormous amounts of power.
You got that right. Same dates.
No sir.there fighting for freedom in the UKRAINE.IN THE ALAMO THEY WERE FIGHTING FOR THE RIGHT TOO MAINTAIN ENSLAVEMENT OF OTHER PEOPLE'S
@@garyneither5 you gave no evidence for your baseless claim. It’s a fact that Santa Anna mass executed anyone he presumed a threat. That is documented. There is no documentation that Alamo defenders fought for slavery. Don’t just name a defender who owned slaves. That doesn’t make the conflict about slavery. No one that has read the history of the conflict supports your claim.
The real Jim Bowie was killed on his cot, crying for mercy!
You in the mirror.
@@bowiehamilton9888 So do you, and the whole world looks into mirrors...point here?
And you would know this HOW?
@@crazyelf3839 From Mexican after action reports, and Mexican newspapers at the time that I translated. Know this: Mr. Bowie was well-known in central Mexico, and in the end they did not like his dealing-wheeling ways.
@@rogerborroel4707 As far as I'm concerned, since there was only 3 survivors, Mrs. Dickerson, her daughter and a black man, of the Alamo, I tend to believe their recounts over the thousands who slaughtered 185 Texicans! As for his wheeling dealing ways, most people of substance did that sort of thing!
Kitty and Matt discreetly loved each other and occasionally made out but Matt just wouldn't commit!

Kitty and Matt was just a fantasy story, but Jim and Amanda was a very real love story that have left a great sentiment in the heart of the world.
