I use this channel to help others in their learning journey of making challenge locks mostly, pick a lock every once in awhile, share random stuff.
I see this as a good way to share ideas, help those learning in LockSport and even get some help along the way. 😃

this is a 1 off pin and this didn't stay intact, but it is possible to make. I have tapped out on chasing after it and except defeat.

Good to see you picking again. Wow that is so high up. That is a fantastic pick from Terry
Nicely done....but better you than me!!
Shocker 😱 Does Jay ever get jelly legs climbing so high? 🫣 /\ | | ×× ×× ×× / \ | | | | ×× ×× / \ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Very cool J.
Awesome to the maximum!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Very cool. Stay safe
Do whatever you want to do mate, have fun remember 👍
Nice one brother 👍 You are a deeply respected challenge lock maker ,keep the faith brother and have fun. Cheers and all the best to you and yours 🍻 🍻 🍻
Always know I am about to learn something from you when you do a CL video, thanks for the information once again. I do understand that you need to move forward. Retiring from CL making, so does that mean we will get to see you do some picking? I really hope you are able to stay connected to the locksport community.
Hey man we appreciate everything you do for the community
I've got my hands on a few locks way back that were a reasonable pick. I thought to myself "Oooo I reckon I could make these into really good CL's". After converting them they were easier to pick 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 And I have no idea why 😂😂😂😂
J my friend always top notch but more than that one of the best people I have ever known. 🦮🦔👍❤️
Great video, always great locks, tips, etc. sometimes it's good to take a break !!!! relax, have some other fun... have a great day
That is an awesome find j. Thanks for sharing the information. I was saddened to hear you are retiring from locksport. are you going to be able to stay in touch with the community through other social media. Thank you for all you tutorials, advice, help, materials and goodies you have given me over your time here. You are greatly appreciated and your challenge locks and tutorials will continue on spreading the J. Gabriel name throughout locksport. All the best to you my friend, take care
Ohhh man dm me the link to those j!!!
gj
That looks shiny and awesome
Sweet
Great job Jay, steady as she goes!
Yeah those chail balls make for a good pick but they are kinda fragile. Cheers Jay
I think you p!ssed that pin off, it lost its temper. I’ll get me coat.
Damn, molecular pins now.
😂 😂 😂 Happy Days 🔥 🔥 🔥
Very nicely explained Jay and a jolly good series - sorry it took me so long to finish watching it ! Just to say my old Dremel clone finally broke the other day and the new Real Dremel has just arrived -I've splashed out 😮 I'm in with the big boys now 😂 All the very best to you and yours mate 👍 🍻 🍻 CHEERS 🍻 🍻
More excellence Jay 🍻👍👍👍👍
Excellent Jay 👍👍👍
Super nice cuts 👌😊
I wished that I would have taken the chance on them sooner. I think I would have saved myself more money on the blades. I would have used the ultra thin blades for micro serrations and I could have used the X-Acto blades for cutting
@@j.gabriel8573 they do say heinsight is a wonderful thing 😉😊thanks for saving many from the same fate J
Great find. It looks like from your test these exacto blades work a real treat. 😉👍
Nice one Jay mate 👍 They seem like jolly good blades Cheers and all the best to you and yours 🍻 🍻 🍻
Nice blades, thanks for the info. have a great day
Excellent tip, thank you! I wonder if it cuts thru basic brass pins like butter! 😅
if they cut into the stainless steel that easily, they will handle the brass quite well
Furst 🕺
Great series J. Hope you’re doing well.
What speed you using?
And what you using to cut the wafers with
I am using a hobby knife with an ultra fine razor saw blade and the lowest speed
When using your digital caliper to measure the stick-out of your tube from the chuck (as seen at 6:23) don't use the inside, outside, or depth micrometer ... on the back of the caliper behind "i GAGING" brand name (I couldn't make this up) you will find the correct tool for this job. Open the tool past the desired distance, place the back of the fixed jaw on the tube and slowly close the moving jaw to the desired stick out. Don't worry, 90% of all digital caliper owners don't know there is actually 4 tools in one! ;)
right on, you're talking about locking it down with that set screw and using the thumb wheels to set it to the desired length? I'm not really all that familiar with them. Honestly I used them to point out an around about length to cut which that piece was mostly eyed out rather than a solid measurement. I don't have consistent movement of the actions to have myself dialed in and acclimated to hit the mark every time. I was looking at getting it somewhere in the neighborhood or ball park and make the necessary adjustments. I'm basically trying to get folks to see the process and also know that it isn't exact. That piece that needs to be trimmed a little should be about 2.5mm and with .5-.7mm thick discs cut from the tubing with a 1.5mm gap showing on the nail would be pretty much about spot on. My goal was basically go through the process and explain what I do to help them recreate the pins. if you dive into the challenge lock aspect of LockSport, I would like to see your work and maybe mine inspires ideas or helps you with your creativity. Thanks for that tip and I about to search UA-cam University on that 4th aspect of measuring with calipers
@@j.gabriel8573 No, I'm talking about measuring directly behind the name brand.
@@kevinsellsit5584 yeah I'll definitely have to check it out when I get back to the house. It's going to be sometime probably Friday evening. I'm currently in Nashville working on a TVA job. I will definitely check that out
Great work have a great day
It would be intresting to see how these pick, it would be cool to see a video of these pins in a cutaway lock to see how they react as they are being picked.
Fantastic series…
Another great series video.
🙏
You may probably already know this but I’ll say it just in case you don’t, & others might not know & im sure PW won’t know, About those spring loaded centre punches, you can adjust them by screwing them in & out to increase or decrease the force of the impact, so if it is splitting the pin, just decrease the force, it may or may not help.
Your dremel might just need new brushes, if it’s the type that isn’t brushless .
Awesome to now know how to make these pins, thanks heaps J, cheers
Hmmmm, very interesting.
The triple pip hybrid is such a cool looking pin with the brass and stainless steel rings. Really appreciate you doing this series on these rattlesnake pins. This has been a comprehensive look at how these pins are made and I don't think I have any unanswered questions, all have been answered by these videos. Thanks J, appreciate it, cheers
awesome 🥰 then my work is done 😁
Very clever idea using the center punch to create that flare on the tubing. Thanks for this video, cheers
Very interesting tutorial J. The only thing I would add is how to grab that wafer as you are cutting it. I think I would put a pokey tool up the tube then make my cut so that the pokey tool catches the wafer when it is cut. Thanks for this video, cheers
Nice series , and to save for reference
Love the series
