Current in the main earth
I was asked to have a look at this installation that had current in the main earth wire, Even when the supply was off. I'm interested in your thoughts.
I never did get a definitive answer to this. The Electricity supplier spent several days checking out transformers on poles.

Bend 50mm conduit using heat

This video is in response to a request. It shows how to bend 50mm conduit using heat and avoid kinking or deforming the conduit without a spring.
Turn a transformer into an autotransformer
Переглядів 2,2 тис.3 роки тому
I decided to connect the secondary of my transformer to the primary of my transformer to boost the voltage. This is an easy trick if you can't find any other way to solve your voltage drop problems.
Transformer teardown

This teardown is done to show the construction of a transformer and explain transformer ratios. Then add in a few tappings to create a transformer that is more useful for my purposes.
Testing A Granny Flat
Переглядів 6 тис.3 роки тому
This is a quick and easy way to test a small installation. It's not the way that is recommended in AS/NZS3017 but it's effective and fast. It covers Earth continuity, Insulation Resistance, Polarity, and Interconnection. I even found a few faults. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
Finding Interconnection
Переглядів 2,6 тис.3 роки тому
I keep getting asked to make a video on testing, and a friend of mine, Sam, asked me if I would like to do a video on this job that he had taken over from another electrician. A lot of my students don't see the point of doing an interconnection test these days because one, they can't see how it can happen, and two. Even, if it did the RCBO's, would tell you there is a problem straight away. Thi...

What is the reason for bending the roof downward at the end and dosas it really work?
hey, it could be an Earth leakage coming from upstream of consumer main such as point of attachment.
also, probable bonding issue, for example water pipe from adjacent house B in contact with conductive part in the house A
how do you get the drill bit through the top if the wall is already fitted, impossible??????????????
Thanks for this. Very helpful.
Great video besides the camera bloke struggling to breathe
Was expecting some wisdom at the end........hahahahah
I like it . Please make socket process and step over bend of cpvc pipe
What a legend. Reminds me of a lecturer
Perfect, exactly the help I needed.
Dinged the sheet..not how you do it. Huge issue is trying to lift the sheet a section at a time, you need to pop each lap (the entire length of the run) from the clip and then lift the whole thing at once. Will also tell you that the claw on a hammer is the perfect angle for doing this.
Super helpful, thanks mate. I suspect I have a dead rat in the roof and need to get that sucker out asap.
Very helpful video, thanks for taking the time to make it.
Bloody brilliant, I'd just have "tabs for as/nzs 3000" as the title so it can be searched easier as I only came across it after a while of looking, and a quick edit as you say section 8 for section 7 and 8. Marvellous!
How about dielectric grease??
Dish liquid! Didn't that J&J Talcum Powder Give People Genital Cancer. Hate to see what it will do to your lips.
I would test voltage with low z meter
A plumber watching sparky videos ?, but our age seems similar and I don’t have prescription safety glasses either. I have in the past used my hammer drill with one hand and placed an index finger in an ear thus reducing the possibility of hearing damage by 50%. Unfortunately my golden retriever offers nothing for me while I’m plumbing but has successfully imitated a blocked drain smell on many occasions.
But its not an autotransformer
Technically no but it will behave like one
Very helpful. Thank you 👍🏼
Thanks for taking the time to make a video on this topic!!!!!
Thanks legend
Kev! I just saw you in newtown, didnt get the chance to say hi but hope youre doing well mate
Is that Jamie in the background? 😜
Cop this mother fxxx 😂 so good
Hahahahahh 100% with the Box
That’s is so good! Any other tips when it’s comes to sitting your A grade
If your in NSW just know the rules. the new exams don't ask for many clause numbers
Done this thousands of times can't remember the last time i broke a tile my tips 1. Wear shoes that are very pliable like dunlop volleys, 2. Maintain good fitness and body shape (top tip mate as you said in video) 3. ease your weight transfer onto each tile progressively as you walk sudden shock will snap tiles 4. Look at each tile ahead of you before you step on it, sometimes some tiles have hairline cracks and will shatter as soon as you step on them even carefully
This guy is a legend
Great video. Thanks for posting. Only one question... would it not be preferable (whenever possible), to place the hole on the edge of a tile rather than the middle?? Avoiding the groove, of course so that the water doesn't run directly into the hole area, as you explained; but if you place the hole on the edge, then the tile can be removed to access the bracket under the tiles.
Never tried it but I doubt it. too easy to break the tile and no way to get a seal between the top tile and the one under it
Nice! Didnt no the spring insert was necessary lol
Great video mate 👍
Fricking awesome video 😄 Glad I found it before using PVA glue.
What is difference between kilo lines
I don't know
Oops
Fault on the street or on the neighbours house .Bad transformer bond /ground
Is it grounded at another location also? Have you tested the voltage both for AC and DC? Another thing I would do is drive a temporary ground rod near the panel and check for current and voltage from the ground bus bar to the ground to see if you still get the same results.
100% one of the neighbours has a bad service/consumer neutral and it’s coming back through that earth. Either that or customer is stealing power and also has a bad neutral.
dodgy neutral at the neighbours?
Thank you sir!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you kindly, I just used your tags that you provided and labelled my book. Really appreciate it !
😂as an apprentice in the mid 70s the first thing we had to make was a set of test lights with two pilot lamps we weren't allowed to use a meter until we finish trade school 2.5 years later. We never had elv control ccts they were all 240 volts means we tested control continuity live shock horror for today's work safe inspectors yeah a bright light was 415v dull 240v those were the days
Same
You wont get a pay out for meso from talcum powder as you used it not for its intended purpose 😂
I live dangerously
(((😂))))
I"ll be building a shed soon and I do like this sort of roofing. No leaks or screws to come loose. Thanks for showing a way to get it of.
Great job. Keep doing your videos.
I really should pull my finger out and do more
Thanks bos❤
Dang reading the aussie fellas comments about no tagging or even having to use a unmarked as/nzs3000 that's harsh. Oh well, you just have to roll with it.
Amazing content, very cool ❤
