Hints and tips - How to remember obstacle routes
Переглядів 249Рік тому
Here's how I remember my routes round the obstacles. It takes a lot of practice. A good backstepper/groom/assistant can help you to go the right way, and knowing where you are going means you can drive more confidently and smoothly, which gives your horse more confidence, and can go more quickly - and enjoy driving the obstacles more, so you have more fun, too.

what a delight to watch! The horses work in such tandem together and the team works so well between horses and humans.
Our Dalmatian, Harley would make a great carriage dog. He would be sitting inside the carriage though, resting on velvet cushions.
Omg that music fits PERFECTLY
That was well done!
I've never seen it so exactly!
How many hands is your pony?
Love it 😍
This video was posted a yr after I was born 😱
Uuuuu
I have never driven a wagon,,,,, but this guy and team of horses are good!
Very beautiful
Great video, never seen 4 horses pulling a carriage. To think that is how trams were pulled hundreds of years ago. Beautiful horses too. Great video.
Great video, love the old looking carriages too. Amazing to think they have been used for so long too. Cars would never last that long.
Very beautiful horses. Such lovely animals for sure!
Wow, that is amazing, my little sister LOVEs horses too. They are very cute these Shetland Ponies.
Absolitely beautiful horses.
Just subbed back to you friend

Can anyone g i ve me advise or direction to sources on training a Dal to heel from horseback?
This might seem a bit off course, but if you contact the British Carriage Dog Society I am sure they will help you. Very friendly - and I know they hold training on foot, with riders and with carriages. Jus Google them... best of luck!
One skill id love to learn
The cart is an american hackney cart. Well driven.
Wow amazing coordination
Yes, after a thorough inspection of the roof I think the rafters are quite secure.
Nice road
A beautiful couple of horses!
good
that was amazing :)
Love the carriage too, very nice classic lines. Who made that?
Huzza!! Good job Mr. Capstick!!
I've never seen horses do this. I've seen a lot of weird stuff with horses but never like this
Very well trained and paired horses. They worked together beautifully. Very versatile and flexible and well trained horses. They kept their momentum and the beautiful stride no doubt he won that was a great job!
Lol sorry, thats what I meant XD I swear. I sound like an idiot nowww! Oh well.
they are not riders because they are not mounted like us, they do not relyon reins and a seat for poll control, they are driving the horse and themselves with the cart, hence not a rider but a driver :D
i think you will find the "rider" is a "driver"
Wow! Unbelievable how much control and smarts these horses need to get the job done... Not to mention the rider remembering the pattern...
This is one timed obstacle out of (usually) seven or eight which are part of the marathon phase of horse driving trials. In the obstacles, you pre-learn your route through "gates" (gaps) A, B, C, D, E and sometimes F, too, on foot, then drive the obstacles in turn as part of a 15-20km route. In each obstacle, as you pass the start for it the clock starts - you "open" each gate by driving through it in the correct direction the first time (red A on the right, white on the left, and so on)...
The driver is Ruth Bamforth.
gorgeous paces !
OK, I'm trying too hard - will go and find a child to torture... (joke)
@8hoovesbetter sometimes :-)
I really prefer the original sound.
Hope you prefer jazz!
A joy to watch, I hate kids spoiling your video's...:-)
Lovely tandem, would look quite flashy in front of a classic tandem cart...
Lovely sight which brings back many memories, as I drove daily for years in the past in the woods, with my dalmatian running UNDER the axle of an antique two wheeler. He was well sized, and became a really true athlete. The drive was usually about an hour.
Lovely turnout, I love that gig.
Great driving :)
Great video!
