Taped this off the telly back in the 80's or early 90's. Might anyone know who made it? It might have been aired on channel 4 in the UK.

Brilliant Trees, his first solo album , still sounds timeless. Could be released tomorrow and would stand relevant.
VERAMENTE POCHI ARTISTI COSÌ... C'È COME IL MAESTRO SAKAMOTO LO HA CERCATO, CHE A CHI HA DETTO NO, PERCHÉ DOVETE SAPERE CHE SILVIAN DELLA MUSICA GIÀ PRONTA, DEGLI ARRANGIAMENTI GIÀ COLLAUDATI NON SA CHE FARSENE, LUI LA MUSICA, LA NOTA, IL SUONO, LO DEVE "" PARTORIRE""... LUI
DAWID BOWIE ERA. INVIDIOSO... DELLA PERSONA È DEL CORAGGIO A LIVELLO PROFESSIONALE DI QUESTO ARTISTA CHE NON SI È PIEGATO A NESSUNA ETICHETTA DISCOGRAFICA.... COME TUTTI GLI ARTISTI SI HA AD UN CERTO PUNTO IL CERCARE QUELLO CHE SI È, SI CERCA IL "RACCOLTO" DI CIÒ CHE SI È FATTO NEGLI ANNI PRECEDENTI.... A DIFFERENZA DI ALTRI ARTISTI SI È DATO UNA PAUSA, UN PERIODO SABBATICO SU CUI RIFLETTERE SU CIÒ CHE VERAMENTE CERCAVA.... SAPEVADEI RISCHI CHE PUÒ ORTARE QUESTA PAUSA, ED È PROPRIO IN QUEL PERIODO CHE LE SUE IDEE HANNO AVUTO UN PROLIFICO PERCORSO COLLABORANDO CON GRANDI ARTISTI CONOSCIUTI E NON, SILVIAN DA QUESTO PUNTO DI VISTA NON FA DIFFERENZE, L'IMPORTANTE È FARE UNA MUSICA CHE INNANZITUTTO LO APPAGA, SE POI IL PUBBLICO APPREZZA CERTO CHE NE È RICONOSCENTE, MA IN PRIMIS DEVE ESSERE LUI APPAGATO DAL LAVORO SVOLTO... NON IMPORTA QUANTO TEMPO VA VIA, MA È NATO PER FARE QUESTO... QUINDI...
I thought that was a stupid question about why the band looked the way they did at the time because of the New Romantic movement. David looked amazing like a boy version of Marlyn Munro .
Happiness! Happiness! Now that I’ve found peace at last. Tell me Jesus, will it last? Happiness. Amazing lyrics. Amazing band. I’m so proud to be a fellow Glaswegian. 🏴

Thank you for posting this. Back when bands would perform live on TV. Love this 👍❤️
Japan were my world as a teen
So!......it makes you wise to break the rules...
One of the best & unique bands! Glad that I belong to this generation
Their dad was in construction, it sounds like. Both Steve and David have an ease at constructing rhythms and noise. Lewisham always seems pleasant. When I hear or read his words regarding identity, at some point the song ‘Running Away,’ by Sly & The Family Stone is thought of. Searching for freedom from anything is something many of us can relate to.
David, Japan, the music, was and is still great. Aswell as a lot of your solo albums. I cherish them. And im not some idiot hyped fan. Ive made music myself, composed too. Not many popbands have differing keys in the same song. You know that, right? Its not like you wrote music for the average person; popmusic. Which is why you never scored a real hit (except for adolescent sex somewhat, which is from actually the first and lesser album). You wouldnt have scored a hit, ever, bc your music is too difficult for most. But people that know music, will appreciate it. You, Mick and so will be remembered, while most of the others will be forgotten. Even though they may have scored huge hits. It means nothing. Ive always said that i consider your solo work as modern, classical music. Cant get better than that m8.
where is parts 4 and 5? could you upload them?

I think that's true for so many of us, it certainly is for me.
Interesting to hear him speak of what Harold Bloom called the 'anxiety of influence' in the arts.

1982. I've just been to see Richard Barbieri doing a small performance with one or two guests, and then a talk by him. Great night and he had what looked like the same Roland System 700 you see in this video around 2m 10s.
Brilliant they'll never be bands like that again like the 80s
