Cheat Codes to Financial Freedom in 2025
There are 3 things that I think that everyone should do. Open and max out a Roth IRA each year, have at least 3 months worth of expenses set aside in an emergency fund and have at least 1 goal to achieve that will make their life better.

When you decide that you are no longer happy being broke. Not being able to have the things that you want because you did not take the right steps when you were younger... You will wish that you bought some VOO!! I wish that I bought more when I was first getting started. I bought options rather than equities. I learned form my mistakes and will buy as much SPLG as I possibly can.

I have laid out my 3 major financial goals in this video. What are yours? It is important to have goals so you know what you are working towards each time you get paid. I think that the most important goal that anyone can have is the short term goal. You can get it done and it will allow you to feel accomplished and most importantly it will keep you striving toward the next goal!
$36,500 Dividend Portfolio Update | Making BIG Changes

There are always ups and downs when it comes to investing. I chose to hold onto a position much longer than I should which caused me to lose money when the stock market went up. That is a mistake that I wish that I did not make, but I know that I should trust my gut when it comes to closing or trimming a position. I waited too long and should most likely sell out of the position as a whole(UWMC...

What personal goal are you working on?
This year my goal is to add an additional focus to my physical health. I have been working out at least 3 times per week! My secondary goals are to max out my Roth IRA by the end of June and then I would also like to save an additional $10,000!
I'm a tech worker, and oh boi what I would give to just get my work done, and that's it. Just clock in and out.
Until busy season hits lmao
I’m going to be a tax intern coming up and possibly after graduation. Did you learn a lot in class or more on the job? I’m worried that I’m not going to get all the information needed in my class or have a bad professor or I don’t memorize all the information.
@hypermoose5794 Personally I learned just about everything on the job. If you know the Balance Sheet Equation and the natural account balances for most normal accounts you will be golden. Most of what you learn in school does not directly translate into the overall line of work besides some concepts. There is a lot more grey area than I would have thought! I honestly would recommend taking a bookkeeping class. That will help you the most in the real world! Lots of clients have very messy books.
Im a tax intern too and from the work ive done so far my experience has been to take detailed notes during your training that you can refer back to and just paying attention to the corrections requested. They dont expect you to know a lot going in but they do expect you to pay attention to what they train you
give me money and ill double it promise lmao XD
Super cool. I never thought to use ChatGPT to make a budget!
Why didn’t they teach this in school.
Unfortunately there are a ton of things they don’t teach in school that i think they should!
I like it thus far
Hey man, really like the Seiko watch you chose at the beginning. What model is it?
@naffeee Thank you so much! It is one of my favorites too. It is actually a custon Seiko. I got it from a website called Journey About Time. The website is something like "JATwatches" if you were interested in taking a look. They have customized Seikos to look like basically all high end watches like Rolex, AP and Patek. I love the one that I got!

I just subbed 😃 I am in school for accounting and plan on working in tax. I really enjoyed this video and I like how you are investing too! I been investing for 2 years after finding out about the FIRE movement.
Texans like to pretend they don’t pay taxes… they do.
This was nice to see. I am a mechanical engineer considering a career shift to accounting.
I began college as an engineering student and am considering a switch to accounting. What has made you want to leave engineering as a profession?
That's so interesting. I'm in tech, and I want to switch to accounting 😂 what made you want to?
Lol, I’m in accounting and want to become an engineer. Why do you want to leave engineering?
I have no idea whatever any of the terms you used mean but I'll try it out
You’ll randomly start testing to become a Certified Public Accountant?😂 it’s just a certification that allows you to do a lot more with your career as an accountant 👍🏻
@@Westyinvests thanks. Uesful career info.
Love this video man! Would like to see more stuff like this
Thank you! I will make another one as we are going into busy season and maybe one more targeted towards financial statements! Cheers!
Bought 1 year Sub.$55.99. yesterday. (12/01/2024.) Day 1 had issues with their platform --could not get it fixed. E-mail support "NO" answer. I cancelled my subscription. "NO REFUNDs ALLOWED. "Even if it's their fault! I Lost $55.99. Be advised.
ever since stock split been investing heavy into schd putting as much as i can into it 100$ a day i believe it will compound even faster now i used to put 100 a month into it
Liked researching your numbers so that I could compare them to mine. Thank you for the insights.
I am glad that you enjoyed it! I have high hopes for updates to come soon! Cheers!
Hey man I'm a uni student (currently a sophomore) studying accounting and finance I had a quick question for you. Did you do any internships during your time at UNC? Btw I like how you go over your investments in other videos as I want to start investing pretty soon.
Howdy there! I actually did not do any internships when I was at Uni! I did not plan on going into accounting when I was studying at Uni, but in the last 2 months of school I got a job offer to work in public accounting. I love going over my investments. Makes me feel more connected to what I am building for my future! I am glad that you enjoy seeing what I am invested in and can look into them yourself!
Trump won obviously and markets are up
Trump won!!!!!!! o7 president trump
At 9:25pm, west coast time, it does not seem to be trending well for the Vice President Harris campaign. Taking all of the politics out of this, and looking from the investing perspective, I say there is not much difference in what to do with regards to investing--- continue to dollar cost average; and hopefully you are doing it for the long haul. You will still build a nest egg for the retirement years.
Nice video! I also like watches and noticed you changed your watch during the day hahaha
Nooooo you weren’t supposed to notice!😂 I really like the seiko but the gold coach watch is so pretty! Great attention to detail! You’re the first to notice! Cheers!
Cute pics dude
VOO is the best
Let me know what your largest holding is! I may add it to my portfolio if it is down over 10% from ATH! (:
Costco is killing it for me! My biggest holding along with VTI
@@LondonCat55 Awesome! I wish that I picked up COST when it was much cheaper. It has been a major bull in this market!
There are a great number of etf/stocks out there paying (monthly) dividends over 10%..I don't get your logic..
Although there are tons of ETFs and stocks that have 10%+ dividend rates they typically, not always, are known as dividend traps. They have the high yield, but with each payment decrease in value over time. The companies that I invest in are dividend growth stocks and ETFs. They slowly increase the div payments every year and hopefully by the time that I retire, the increase in payments will have compounded on each other. This will hopefully set me up for a nice and easy retirement!
My favorite is #SCHD 😎 Nice income and update!!!
Thank you! SCHD is awesome and is 9% of my portfolio currently! I’m hoping to get it up to around 15% by the end of the year!
@ nice!! Mine is around 25% of my portfolio so far, I buy one share weekly!
Very nice video I liked it
Thank you so much! For those larger creators they do a great job pushing out videos. This one took me forever! I appreciate the compliment!(:
My favorite etf is jepq svol and spyi
I’m also a fan of JEPQ I just haven’t added it to my portfolio yet!
I’m sorry, but 1% dividend? I don’t get that. I’m sure you know what you’re doing but I don’t get investing for that low of a return. There are so many great stocks that pay more and are stable or better. Pepsi and schd for example
The ETFs that have a low dividend yield are growth ETFs. They are not designed to produce income, they are designed to increase in value. SCHD has been able to keep up with VOO and VTI, but I don’t know if they’ll be a be able to keep up for a long period of time. The overall value of the assets continue to increase still!
Slvo GGN msty arcc oxcl jepq
I think that you should review the numbers that you are using in the calculator.
I have 22k to invest. What would you do dollar cost average or lump sum into dividends?
There are a ton of things that you should consider. Depending on your age, risk tolerance and other factors, I would consider dollar cost averaging into VOO and SCHD. You'll generate some passive income(if that is what you are looking for) and still be in a good position to see growth in your funds. DCA seems favorable to me right now as I have no idea what the market will do with the election results here in about a month! I hope that this helps.
What’s your favorite stock? Or icecream flavor?? Let me know! I may buy you a scoop😏
I’d let you buy me any ice cream
@@lexiiolsonme to
I buy a lot of SPLG. S&P 500 etf with a low fee
What’s your favorite ETF? My favorite is SCHD for that sweet passive income!
I love how you simplify it so everyone can understand
talk louder please
I just got a new microphone so I hope that helps!(: @daviddowling6376
No
Right now it's ASTS, i really think it's going to be the next big thing in 2-3 years maybe less
Snowball hack don’t pay money for it do the trial when it expires delete it re do and get another month free
SCHD is my biggest holding. SCHG is slightly ahead of my 3rd holding, VTI. I did a 40%/30%/30%, respectively, distribution.
You’re completely right
Hi there. SCHD is my biggest....barely. My taxable brokerage account is 36k. I started it with 25k 1.5 yrs ago with 10k in schd, 7500 in schg, and 7500 vti. In that 1.5 yrs, schd grew to 13k+, the schg is almost as high at 12k+, and the vti is 10+k.
We love our SCHD! I expect SCHD to continue to out perform most dividend stocks and will keep growing my positions! SCHD is now 9% of my portfolio!
Awesome video!! One question, I'm a high school graduate looking to pursue either accounting or finance at university. Would you recommend accounting so far, in terms of pay and job satisfaction? Cheers
@alexabrown1146 If you are considering getting a degree in either Accounting or Finance, I would consider getting the degree in Accounting. With an Accounting degree you can work in both Accounting and Finance, but its harder to work in accounting with a finance degree. As for which you should work in... I would say you should pick the one that interests you the most! There are some aspects of accounting that are awesome(I love doing Financial statements) but some tax returns are horrible. In terms of pay, It is a very slow start considering you will have a 4 year degree. I Started making $55,000 with no accounting history besides my education. After two years I am now making just under $70,000. Once you have your CPA license, I am working on mine, you have another $15,000 - $20,000 raise there. Like most careers, you will have larger pay increases when you change jobs. The final thing you should consider are the hours. MOST accouting firms require 60 hour weeks during tax season. I am lucky and my firm only requires 48 during tax season and we only have to work 32 hours in slow season. I really hope this helps!! If you want more info about what I do you can reach out and I'll do my best to give you as much info as I can so you can make the best decision for yourself!! (: Cheers.
Do you own any SBUX? Let me know down below!!
Doing awesome for only being 25! Keep it up
Thank you! It is such a slow and tedious process, but once I get to $100,000 I think that the growth will come even faster!
Have main and o in roth. They dont pay qualified dividends. Altria, dgro, schd all awesome in taxable account.
Most of my positions are in my Roth IRA! I do have some in a taxable account. I don't make a ton at my 9-5 so the tax on non-qualified dividneds is minimal! When I get older and make more I will have to adjust some positions!
Splg would a better choice because of low fees. You can sell more covered calls for additional passive incomes and reinvest them. In the long run, you get a bigger snow ball than VOO
when did u start? and how much did u put in? and what was the chosen stock(s)? sorry if these are too many questions but im just an 18 year old who is trying to start early given that i have a bit of disposable income
@ali_new_world I started back at the end of 2020. I didn't start taking things seriously until about 2 years ago! If you are looking to get invested in the overall market I would look into some ETFs such as VOO and SCHD. I personally invested the majority of my money into VOO. It makes up over 50% of my portfolio to this day! I hope this helps!
