I just read The Housemaid. It was the third book of Freida McFadden that I have read. Unfortunately I have decided she just isn’t an author for me.

Hi! I’ve read the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy and then his 4th book this year. Great escapism-I spent a lot of time Googling the outfits, bags, and shoes that they wore. It’s a bit crude in its commercialism but I did enjoy all of his books. The Housemaid drew me in-hook, line, and sinker! My most recent 5* was Black Cake-totally missed that one when it came out. Listening to James now. Wow! Happy Thanksgiving!

Down Among the Sticks and Bones is one of my favorites of the Way Children series!

I read The Shack several years ago. It was a beautiful ut tragic story that nearly broke me. I don't usually cry at books, but it cane very close. Despite the sadness, there were some positive moments in the book. I borrowed the book as an ebook from the library, but if had owned it, I would definitely have kept it.

I also three of those on my tbr (The Housemaid, The Prophets, and Nevermore). Maybe I'll be inspired to read them the same you do! Happy Thanksgiving!

I love the Wayward Children series, it’s one of the few I always stay caught up on-can’t wait for the new one this coming January! 😊 Down Among the Sticks and Bones was one of my favorite backstory installments too!

Ann Patchett is a mixed bag for me. I liked Tom Lake but not the Dutch House. You might like ker book State of Wonder. Anthony Doerr is incredible. I'll have to try Grace. I liked All the Missing Girls. The Housemaid was an ok quick read but generally I'm not a McFadden fan. Happy Thanksgiving!!

The Shack is amazing, it is fiction.

I have read Open Water and loved it, I also liked The Shack, can’t believe you never read that, it was so hyped in christian circles 🙃 And I read The 13th Tale many years ago, I know I liked it but can’t remember a single thing 😅

I DNFed All the Missing Girls because it's told backwards, and that wasn't personally working for me. Hopefully you'll have better luck. I have others by Megan Miranda that I'd like to read, though, so hopefully that was just a one-off and I'll like others by her more.

Out of your stack the only two I read was NeverMoor and The Shack and really liked both

I loved Nevermoor and The Housemaid. Not a fan of the Every Heart a Doorway series. I quit after the first book, but I’m not a fantasy reader, so it’s probably just me.

The Thirteenth Tale is really good, I enjoyed the audiobook

I've read three. The things we lost to the water 5 stars, Down Among the Sticks and Bones 4 stars, Nevermoor 5 stars. Obama had The Thing we Lost on one of his favorite's book list. The fourth book in the nevermoor series is supposed to come out this year, so perfect timing, if it actually does get released.

I read All the Missing Girls and the Housemaid and enjoyed both of them. Fried McFadden in my opinion is good, but shouldn't read many of her books one after another, it gets to be the same, or feels the same. The Housemaid was good, but I have no desire to read the next one in this duology. I believe in some books should just remain as one book and not add on it it.

I loved Crazy Rich Asians and the first Nevermoor book! And while The Shack wasn't a favorite of mine, I still enjoyed it and I think you will too 😊

I enjoyed The Dutch House, but I think I enjoyed Tom Hanks as the narrator of the audiobook more than I enjoyed the story. I struggled through Bel Canto.

I read a couple of books from your distract bookshelf. When you read The Thirteenth Tale, maybe we can buddy-read it, as it is a book I want to reread. I was happy that I borrowed All the Missing Girls through the library because it was a mediocre book. I need to continue with The Crazy Rich Asians series; I read the first installment. The Housemaid is an okay read in my opinion, it reads fast because of the short chapters, and because of the chapter cliffhangers.

I also need to read Nevermoor :)

I love Christmas and like the ideas you used in your journals. This idea is not just for you, but a family activity with books. Before December1 I would wrap 25 Christmas stories. (With three kids, we collected a few). We wrapped the same books each year. Every night before bed, the kids would pick a book to unwrap and we would read it as our bedtime store. It was an interactive book advent calendar. I always wrapped "Twice the Night Before Christmas" in a special paper, and we would read that one on Christmas Eve.

Like the Christmas colors and the advent boxes. Ideas : have a special treat, watch a holiday movie, listen to a favorite Christmas carol, wrap gifts, and read a short xmas book, call a relative or a friend tell you were thinking of them, and play a board game or cards with your husband. Can't think of any more, hope the ideas help.

For the boxes: Have some hot chocolate Watch a holiday movie Make a snow man (if the kids room is at ground level having one built for them to notice in the morning might be cute) Do a puzzle (if you're into those) Wrap some presents Listen to some instrumental music and do some reading sprints That's kinda all I got.

I loved the lightning round! I just went through my shelves during a haul and unhaul. Time to clear space!

I love going through my bookshelves and getting rid of books I no longer want to read. It's kind of like a preemptive DNF!

Anything by Liane Moriarity is a keeper! While I enjoy Pam Jenoff’s books, The Diplomat’s Wife was not my favorites. Glad you are enjoying The Alice Network…that was one of our “read-alouds” that we both really liked. And I agree that my grandchildren are adorable!!! How lucky was Theo to have 2 suckers in one day?!?😂

Love the lightning round! So satisfying to free up some shelf space. I loved Alice Network too-it was the only Kate Quinn that I had read before this year but now I've read more and know her books work really well for me

I know you said you don't read a lot of fantasy, but after having watched your videos all year, I honestly think you would really enjoy A Sorceress Comes to Call and The Familiar. Check them out. They both have strong female characters, interesting plots, and a touch of romance.
