Thanks for the feedback! I used a bonding agent and mineral spirits in the lime wash solution then finished it with a waterbased sealer. Mop every so often to keep it clean.

I live in bushland Australia where there is a very real danger of termites. It's essential to use treated timber for framing here. It is also a very open room all year round.

As long as it does not come in direct contact with food or bare skin, it’s fine to use inside. The chemicals used to treat it are not airborne.

That hasn't been true of treated lumber for 20 or so years. It can be used inside.

Yes, I think it does improve it slightly. It also prevents any moisture damage and is worth doing.

I've had this for over a year and it's hasn't faded at all. The key is to seal it properly.

I've had this for over a year and it's hasn't faded at all. It still looks good. The key is to seal it properly.

@@LadyShakz sorry for the slow reply. Yes a wet mop is fine. I used a waterbased concrete and paving sealer.

Hi, I used Tasmanian oak panels and dowel from my local hardware store. The varnish is clear, marine-grade called Monocel Gold.

Yes, manual sanding is fine! Just make sure that you seal/varnish the timber properly otherwise it will get moisture damage.
