Conservation Initiative for the Asian Elephant (CIFAE) arose from the lifelong aspiration of two men that until 1999 where completely unknown to each other; it makes sense that they were.
Amirtharaj “Christy” Williams was born in Tamil Nadu, India, and Ron Chandler was born in Dallas, Texas; both with a love for the elephant.
Christy would earn a PhD from the Wildlife Institute of India and eventually become World Wildlife Fund’s Asian elephant and rhino expert.
Ron would pursue careers in lake and stream ecology, hydrology, environmental remote sensing, and urban ecology for approximately 30 years before earning a PhD in psychology.
In 1997, while between careers, Ron asked himself, “If you could do anything, what would you do?” The answer came instantly, “Do something for elephants!”

@@vickysonar21 The Garo religion has nothing in common with Hinduism,Garos don't have a caste system and neither do they worship cows. The traditional beliefs of the tribal people of the NE and Central India must be safeguarded against mainlander Hindu colonialism.

If you don't know about A'chik Ancestors and Balpakram first get a in-depth knowledge about the History of Garo Culture instead of creating nuisance , Balkpakram is in India but we're not in Hindustan , We are Indians but We are not Hindu , Yes our ancestors worship idols but not Ram, Shiva , Cow etc.....You piece of shit don't have any right to hurt the sentiments of Garo Community & Culture ... On our recent trip to BNP in Feb 2019, we managed to capture in our car dashcam a suspected Yellow Throated Marten (YTM) zooming across the road. Location is about 1.5 Kms short of Deoban trijunction. Just wanted to ask Dr Kashmira and other experts, how significant is the discovery of YTM in BNP ? Did you manage to capture YTM during your camera trapping days ? Or are they common in BNP ? Since Martens are carnivorous and fearless, do they pose immediate danger to tourists trekking to Deoban area ? Because that's in close proximity to where we saw it recently. I am not familiar with the Balpakram landscape, but YTMs are extremely common all over the hills of the Northeast, and are found in a diverse variety of habitats. I haven't ever come across reports of them attacking people, and they are unlikely to pose a threat to anyone trekking in and around the NP.
@@MrSoumyaBanerjee : Hi... glad to hear that. Again this year in Feb 2020 we managed to capture in my dashcam a pair of YTM in BNP. I was worried after reading in net and seeing youtube videos of YTM attacking monkeys. Thanks for clarification.
