Took a friend fishing & Tested new TOOL: 2 birds with one stone
What a great time to test my new tool while fishing with a friend. We had tons of fun and I get to practice using my new toy. Sure, I lost some and caught mostly small fish but at least we did not go home empty handed. Great times! Have a good day!

Caught One Again while catfishing this weekend

Caught another Sting Ray while fishing for dinner. This one is bigger than the one I caught a few weeks ago. It's nice to catch something different once in a while, what a surprise.

This is another way to cook a seemingly ordinary catfish other than deep frying them. The video took four separate days in total to get all the shots. Even though I caught some good size catfish during the first two or three days, it was not until the fourth day that I caught the type of catfish I wanted. Have a good day!

Barbless hooks: WHY I USE THEM 90% of the time

I have been using barbless hooks for several years now and I can honestly say that it is better when compared to hooks with barbs. It is not for everyone but once you get the hang of it... it is pretty cool. It is definitely GOOD FOR THE FISH.

      Thanks for the comment. When I made this video, I was in the early stages of fishing. I still consider myself a novice, that said; I seldom use knocker rig anymore. They are excellent rigs but I often catch more fish using the high low rig around my area. I think it's because there is a good amount of vegetation at the bottom where I go and the knocker rig is not the best rig to use. Have a good day!

    Barbless hooks have been use for decades in the fly fishing community. 1) Better for the fish 2) Better if you hook yourself or someone else. There is an old old video on here somewhere of Lefty Kreh with a hooked fish on barbless where he puts the rod down and walks away to demonstrate that the fish wont magically fall off because it is barbless. Some of the big rivers are barbless only like in yellowstone and patagonia. I think there will be more and more of it as time goes on.

    Hello 😎 I wanted to know if I can catch fish with a sabiki rig mount from the edge? What do you think? Thank you🙋‍♂️

    • @ndoutdoors813
      @ndoutdoors813 10 місяців тому

      Sorry for the late reply, from what I know sabiki rig is good when used as jigs.... if you use it from the edge make sure that you are throwing it on the deeper section of the water, and free from structures (rocks, etc.) I've only used this rig I think once. They worked best if the rig is straight or suspended (hanging). In addition, you have to choose right sinker (not too small and not too heavy). and the water current. Let me know what fish you get. Best of luck my friend! have a good day.

    I don't know that the barb is "very important". Many people use barbless hooks. You reduce fish throwing a barbless hook by keeping the rod tip up, and keeping tension on the line during retrieve. Barbless hooks cause much less damage to the fish 🙂

    So my understanding from what I was taught is that the only real difference between an octopus hook and a circle hook is actually the eye of the hook. Octopus hooks have a bent eye and circle hooks have a straight eye but both circle hooks and octopus hooks can have either offset or inline points. It just depends on how the manufacturer wants to manufacture it based on the demand in the market at that point and time.

    • @ndoutdoors813
      @ndoutdoors813 Рік тому

      I completely agree with you. Not to mention State or Gaming regulations. At the end of the day, i ask myself whether one hook is better than the other and in my opinion is no. If u catch a good size fish and you dont get into any issues then it's a good day! What type of hook do you usually use?

    • @TheIconicFisherman
      @TheIconicFisherman Рік тому

      @@ndoutdoors813 it depends on the situation on what hook I use if I'm fishing open water or places where there's not a lot of cover or structure I usually go with a circle hook or octopus hook depending on the species I'm fishing for in that situation. but if I'm going for like bluegill in grass or bass in grass or any species that tends to reside in really dense cover that's usually the only time I'll use a J hook. Because J hooks are more compact and won't get tangled up as much as a octopus hook or a circle hook in that situation it's really situational for me because I fish for multiple different species so I don't just fish for one type of fish.
