    Way too close to the heating element. With my full size oven, my heating is at the bottom. I use 2nd from the top rack, and back down to 525 for about 5 min. I use a temp gauge to get my steel to measure around 625.

    I've heard that Portobello is not nutritional.

    • @ExploreMakeGrow
      @ExploreMakeGrow 7 місяців тому

      I suppose it depends on what you compare it to or mean by 'nutritional', but Portobello mushrooms are low in calories and fat, have about 2g protein per cup, have 2-3g of carbs as well but these are mostly fiber (good for digestion), and they also contain vitamin D, B vitamins, selenium (good for immune system), potassium, antioxidants, and phytonutrients (compounds that may offer anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer benefits). And thanks for watching! 🍄

    • @GrimSingmuf

      @ExploreMakeGrow It was something Paul Stamets has mentioned in a video. He was saying that he is surprised that it is the main culinary mushroom. I can't remember exactly what he said verbatim. Thanks for the information. I switched to other mushies, however I used to love a juicy portobello burger! Looking forward to more content!

    • @ExploreMakeGrow

      @@GrimSingmuf Thanks for the clarification! There are mushrooms with more (or different) flavors, and more nutrition, so I can see how Paul Stamets or others might say that. To me, each mushroom is different in its flavor, nutrition, and shape/texture, and I use each according to flavor, mostly. I really like the meaty flavor and size of cremini (they also can be fairly inexpensive), so I will cook say a beef stroganoff with them. I'll use shiitake though in a stir fry (usually--stir fry can be a little of everything sometimes). I recommend people explore--farmers markets are a good place to find local, gourmet mushrooms that aren't Agaricus bisporus. Thanks again for watching!

    Far from perfect. Those eggs are way overcooked and you did not scramble the egg log enough, hence the white spots (if you don't mix long enough the chalazae don't incorporate and you are just better off removing it at that point). TLDR; This is the antithesis of a perfectly scrambled egg.

    • @ExploreMakeGrow
      @ExploreMakeGrow 7 місяців тому

      Thanks for your feedback! I always appreciate hearing different perspectives on cooking techniques. You're right that thoroughly mixing is key to a uniform scramble - I'll keep an eye on that next time. In this case, I was aiming for a slightly firmer texture, but I understand that preferences vary. How do you do your scrambled eggs? I'd love to hear your tips, and maybe I can try them out in a future video!

      @@ExploreMakeGrow Take your eggs and crack them in the cold pan (don't whisk them first, do it all in the pan/pot) and add in 2-4 tablespoons of butter. Over medium-low heat whisk/scramble (thoroughly) them as they cook, removing from the burner ocassionally for a few seconds then putting it back on (you repeat that process a few times). Just keep taking off/putting on the heat and stirring until you reach your desired consistency (they are done when they are still slightly wet and glistening). You can also throw in a teaspoon of sour cream or crème fraîche (fresh cream) when it's about 3/4 of the way done and finish cooking as per usual. Add seasonings when its all done, I like salt, pepper and onion powder.

      @ExploreMakeGrow 7 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching! First, I'll admit it's weird. I'm weird! I like to save things for 'someday', I like things neat, and I like to reduce waste. Full story: I did not get any of those bags myself, except for a few last weekend when I was stuck at home with no vehicle. I use reusable bags myself and do the bulk of the shopping, but I'm not alone. I have a family, and they often bring home reusable bags when they go to the store. Until I started doing this, we just had one bag with a bunch of other bags stuffed into it. A mess, basically. They were all wrinkled and hard to use, and I wanted a better way to organize them. I took as many of those as I could lay flat, and that's what you see in the box. The others are still in a wad inside the original bag somewhere in the garage...
