I really find I miss her. Which is crazy, as we never met. She’s my favorite vocalist and I really find it a tragedy that she didn’t get even more recognition. She deserves to be up there with the Ella’s, Barbra’s, Aretha’s, etc… but I guess she was just so jazzy and way to sophisticated for the masses.

As a child my Parent belonged to The Columbia Record Club , and it was predestined they would choose “Hollywood My Way “ Nancy singing famous hit songs from from films , this record came in around 1963 a life long deep and lasting appreciation for Ms Wilson bloomed even in her passing has not waned . Always a dignified but still down to earth performer , the World was a better place because God gave us Nancy Wilson

I loved this woman since I was 17 and I feel so lost without her. I am praying that if I get to heaven I will be able to meet her and give her the hug I have wanted to for years. I am now 76 and white which I don't think it matters. She was just the most beautiful and best singer ever. I miss you Nancy more than you will ever know.

That was so sweet. They were giving her her flowers that she so richly deserved. I have loved her music since I was a child and my oldest brother played her music in our house. Divine. For decades, imo, she had the most beautiful tone I'd ever heard.

My uncle Rusty Bryant gave Ms Wilson her start back in the day. She and my mother sang with his orchestra a lot before his career got started. My mother was Barbara McCarroll. He once told the story of Ms Wilson wanting to go with his band to California, but there wasn’t any room in the van with all of the equipment. She was upset. About half way through the trip they kept hearing noises in the back of the van. He pulled over to see what it was and discovered that Nancy had hid behind the drums. So they had to take her with them. The rest is history.

I'll never forget how my heart sank when I heard Nancy had left us in December of 2018, I couldn't believe it! Nancy Wilson and Frank Sinatra had been part of my musical life as long as I could remember. What Nancy could do with a song, in her inimitable style, was nothing short of miraculous! She truly told a story in song when she sang, her own special way, and it morphed into my heart and soul. I don't think any other singer has made me feel my own depths as much as in Nancy's rendition of so many songs. A musician myself, I have great respect for other singers I love to listen to also, but none has touched my soul as deeply as when Nancy sings, it's so special. I'll always miss this lovely, classy lady, but I'm so glad we have her fabulous recordings to keep her in our hearts and minds -- always!

I fell in love with her in my dorm room in 1967. I still love her. Her body is ageing here. She is seated which would not have been the case at a younger healthier time. At 72, my body has begun to give in too. RIP MS Nancy Wilson!

Saw her for the last ime in 2000. A couple of years later I noticed a waver in her voice, which she covered up using different jazz artists on each track. Watching her perform at Newport in the 80s, I was worried because of the enormous strain she placed aon that incredibly expressive instrument. She was taking it beyond the resilience of the human voice. Until the. present millennium she could wail, scry, whisper, reach Coltrane-like multi-phonics, and her pitch was right on, microtonality, every quarter-tone. as good as Sarah''s. I'm glad I wasn't at this event. She was a class act, a great actress (should have had the Billie Holiday part) in Lady Sings the Blues), and a monster musician. Michael--she be a jazz singer. The other genres don't count. Just put her in the league of Ellington, Louis, Coleman Hawkins, Prez, Dexter, Stitt, Jug, Jaws, Oliver Nelson, and of course Jimmy Jones, her first accompanist (like Sarah's and Stitt's). At the end she showed courage and grace shaming the rest of us who cower in fear.

I saw her in the early 2000's at Yoshi's jazz club in Oakland. Her voice was still pretty good, but she had developed an annoying habit of waving the mic in front of her mouth. It was really distracting and was not an asset to her singing. In her prime, she was one of the best vocalists of the second half of 20th century.
