Ryan Coogler’s Sinners (2025) Movie Trailer Reaction & Speculation
The MCU needs a win this year. 🤞🏾 for Capt BNW!
Imma be there 🗣️opening night!
Discovery of witches🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Ooo, can't wait to hear your thoughts on Cross!
Despite my reservations when it was first announced, Interview with the Vampire really blew me away. Although I was intrigued by this show, the trailer didn't grab me at all. The constant negative criticisms didn't help, either. I don't mind watching something for myself, but it just didn't seem worth the time. I wish they could find a way to retool this. 🙃🙃🙃
I wish they would, too. Witches are my favorite supernatural creatures, so I was excited for this show, smh. It’s a huge let down. I’ve only heard good things about Interview With the Vampire, and it’s on my list!
Disney stays losing. This definitely should have remained as a TV series or just been left alone. Great point about the lack of an internal journey. The soundtrack was so uninspired and unengaging as well. Not sure how or why a third film is going to be made, but I hope they take the criticisms into consideration. 🙃🙃🙃
It made so much money that they probably don’t think they need to fix much. Sigh
And her first interactions with her mother at that party, they had a song on that was just jamming.
The woman that played her mother made me cry early in the film
Origin would be high on my list as well. Made me feel terrible thought! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!

@@LikeChattingWithAFriendReviews I’d watch it!
When it comes to the women in the living room scene and once they start to notice something seems off with the oh boy, I agree with you to a part. I think it was part of their religious training to not pop off but I also think they have the unspoken training most of us women have which is to "play nice and make the man think they're right" often in an attempt to get out of a dangerous situation.
❤❤❤❤
damn I had a comment all ready and got distracted so here I am again. They used a male performer play "The Mother" I guess to make her more monstrous (???). Heavy makeup and prosthetics also dehumanize her (it go you calling her The Creature). She is a victim, one of many and you can still tell that this movie was written by a man ... the least threatening dude in it was the un-housed man, he was still threatening in that running scene but he as also there for exposition. We know why she was lactating. The most innocent of reasons could be because of that video and she could have manipulated it or had sympathy symptoms, but that's unlikely. Frank probably "deleted" her off-spring too. Also hiring Justin long to play "AJ". He's like regular unassuming "normal" guy ... usually. Visually less creepy then bill skarsguard. I didn't like that Frank got away with it. it was never caught really. Even aj didn't kill him. Boy AJ was so gross. I also find in interesting watching different genders watch this movie to see what they pick up. I've seen woman and queer people clock AJ before cis straight white men (as one goofy black dude) give him the benefit of the doubt until waaaaay later. A queer Black woman was suspicious of him as soon as he got that phone call. I guess there were part of the movie that were supposed to be way over the top and silly 'cause a lot of it is ridiculous, but you didn't even mention the police. phew! I wouldn't call this movie perfect maybe 3/5. But maybe I didn't like that it was so dark in subject matter. But at least she made it out and she was the one to put "The Mother" out of her misery. :(
Gah, I forgot to write about the police in my notes, though Janine, Jennifer, and I did discuss it. I think in addition to law enforcement not believing a woman, I think her race and especially perceived class played into it. Because they think she’s unhoused and on drugs, they didn’t bother “protecting and serving.” That homeless man scaring the crap out of her and calling her little girl…like, sir, that is not how you go about sharing an important message, smh. Interesting the different categories of people’s reaction to AJ. As soon as they told him what the accusation was and he went silent, parking the car instead of denying it, I knew his ass was guilty.
This movie falls apart for me. Was this a prequel? Because ... that was a twist ? I just figured it was a prequel bc that old man was in it and we know he died in the first movie. Also what was the point of the kids?
Yep, it was a prequel. My interpretation of the kids is that they represent hope. I don't think they're really there, because it's been established that they don't take kids in.
@@altasoyster Maybe hope and order? there was a time when they were all getting to use the slide but as the hierarchy collapsed in the platform the kids became into disorder until one of them was taken away??? like what? I didn't get that.
@@razycrandomgirlThe kids were satisfied with waiting their turn, and they were good with only spending as much time on the slide as was fair, not hogging it, and they willingly moved out of the way to let someone have a turn. Pretty much what the Loyalist were trying to get to, but they descended into selfishness and competing for resources. I don’t think the kid being taken away was direct punishment. I honestly think it was just to connect the scenes with the kids with the main plot, trying to be deep. Did you notice that the woman who took the kid away is the same actress who plays Miharu in the first movie? I think they did that to purposely get people to talk, which I find kind of cheap. When I searched after the movie, the actress wasn’t credited as Miharu. I don’t know if that’s since changed, since I looked when the movie had just aired.
😂 let me go find this movie just cuz I wanna see this house!
@@LikeChattingWithAFriendReviews It’s a maze! I watched it on Prime. I can’t remember if it’s free or if it was only free for me cause I have AMC+. It’s on Peacock, too.
I wanted this house as a kid. So many hiding places and secret passage ways. too cool
@ I didn't get to see much of it cuz I dipped the same time my boy ran out that basement! I’m scary 😂
@LikeChattingWithAFriendReviews 😂
Ion know. The children in the basement had it petty bad being trapped down there and fed human remains... I think you're wrong about the level of csa Alice encountered. I think the man was working up to it buf hadn't actually crossed that line yet. But when I saw the movie I was around their age and the dad did creep me out but the "mother" was in charge and felt more threatening. The bath scenw is haunting. Wes Craven was going to revisit this movie. Idk if it would be a remake or w/e but he passed before it coukd happen. :/ Idk you're reallly harping on this csa of Alice. I feel like the woman didn't let him do *that* to Alice becaue it would tarnish her perceive value of hee being like this prized possession. This porcelain doll. Plus it one more thing the woman can hold over her sibling as a means of control. Alice is definitely scared/afraid of him though. Fool does call Alice "miss" but is it before he finds out her name or does he call her "miss alice"? I forget 😕 I thought "The People Under the Stars" were like foster kids they were still getting money for and no one ever checked in on them but the check keep coming. "The People Under the Stairs." Is basically just the title that sells the movie. Nothing's reallly connected to the title. Ugh Jordan Peele. I'd be fine if he didn't. I don't need a remake of TPUtS but if it has to be remade find another director. Someone unknown. Possibly even a queer Black fem. The people im worried about the post are actually the captives from the house. They are going to need help/intervention. Sure their free now, but what comes after?
They had it bad for sure. Because of how big they are, it actually didn’t register to me that they’re the children Alice referred to until the second watch. Like, I heard it but it didn’t click because their size contradicted what I heard. I actually thought they were the adult visitors Alice mentions in a later scene, the ones she makes dolls for. But of course I realized on second watch that she makes dolls of the deceased. I can see a case for The Man not going there with Alice at the point we met them. And that could be what the all white represents, that she hasn’t been touched like that yet. But The Woman also leaves him alone to do his business, so the all white could be ironic. Because Alice ISN’T treated like a prize, despite how The Woman talks about her. The Man chokes the Woman out at a certain point, so she doesn’t have him completely subdued. But you’re probably right, because of the color they put on her. And yeah, that bathtub scene is horrific, especially seeing how red she is afterwards. Fool calls her miss before he learns her name. It’s weird because I don’t see him calling a little Black girl that, and I don’t see that line existing if Fool was white. A “hey!” could’ve worked, smh. Oop, you don’t like Jordan Peele?
@@altasoyster I don't like Jordan peele that much. I wonder what's his deal with hiring foreign Black people to play Black Americans. Its weird and I figured it has to be a creative choice because he keeps doing it. Granted I haven't seen Nope yet... ( ilove keke palmer). AND Get Out was basically The Skeleton Key
PLEASE keep watching it gets better the character grows please it’s amazing
Hi! You’re the second person recently to encourage me to see it through. I had given up on it, but I’ll continue and share my thoughts after!
You really came through with highlighting even more flaws that I had missed in my review, and I honestly agreed with all of it! Rhonda got done dirty, because she was easily the most compelling character who deserved to face-off with Crocket. Then they decide to kill her off before we get to Crocket's world, but then somehow reveal that she WASN'T killed off after the fact. Weird. Same with Anthony and the imprinting piece as well. I thought there could have been an interesting dynamic with why Crocket doesn't connect with Anthony as a broken adult as opposed to an innocent child in need of rescue. **Sigh**
The execution definitely left a lot to be desired. One of my friends mentioned that the concept of Mr. Crocket attacking not just parents, but the old-school toxic ways of parenting was a really solid one. I agreed with that, and I honestly wished that it could have delved deeper into that and the effects on the children as well as the grief aspect.
Oh, that would’ve been a GREAT thread to unravel!
Nah touch on the fact that shes the only poc in the group. I wish id see yall live react to the movie instead of the review but I'm glad to know your thoughts. Also that move juno did with the lift split ... chef's kith!
The way they ALL devalued her life is crazy (except for the one who died first). It gave they never really saw her as one of them.
Now that the series is completed, I’m dying to know what you thought of the end!
I had given up after episode 4, but I’ll go back and finish it!
@@altasoyster Oh, okay. If you want you can just go to the last episode and watch the last maybe 3-5 minutes. You've already seen all you need to understand what happens at the very end, I think you'll find it satisfying.
@@kaciegresch8010yeah, but now I’m thinking it’ll be a second season. I feel like Mel shouldn’t have done what she done, even told whoever who he knew about what she did

So many of these I haven’t seen or forgotten the plot. Giving me ideas for next year’s list.
"It was so bad?" HDY and HDY clock me at year and age of when i watched the movie. You hated Breaker!? Wow. Lol long hair? Oh you mean roach. Lol I love camp!😂 Jerylene??? And irene are my faves. Its fine Alta you didn't growup with tales from the crypt which had its own flavor. Horror camp just like the crypt keeper. He makes corny jokes and puns and stuff and its silly horror. Plus the director is a Black man which explains the casting somewhat and i believe he directed some episodes of TWD.
@@razycrandomgirl Girl, I’m sorry😞. The movie started and I was like what did I do?😂 I watched most of the movies in this Halloween series with Janine and Jennifer. They both happened to miss this one, and thank goodness, cause they would’ve cussed me out, lmao.
@@altasoyster well everybody can't have excellent taste (jk). I guess this means you would have hated the HBO series. I loved it bc it was like Are you afraid of the dark but naughty and for adults and I think it would come on after Def Comedy Jam.
I love The Skeleton Key. Those blood thirsty white people viciously murdered their own children ... they felt very little remorse about it. But gurl they ended that blood line. I think the otber practitioners know *enough* and act accordingly and I love that Black people stay away! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Now i have to find demon knight review
Christian forgot danis birthday AND how long they were together
The none white people got picked off first. I heard the actor who played Christian needed therapy after playing that role bc the character is so terrible. I don't understand people who say dani is better off in the end. She seemed to have one friend, who she was talking to on the phone at the start of the movie. What happened to that friend and why didn't Dani listen to her or got to hang out with them?
I don’t understand either. Dani didn’t win anything. She got got, just like everyone else. The only winner is that community.
I didn't have any real expectations for this one, but THAT ENDING??? It really brought it home, but especially that subliminal commentary regarding why they can't find a more "accurate likeness" at the end? The way I SCREAMED..... 😭😭😭
@@DMovieman Listen! I don’t know how they managed to give us such juicy commentary in 2005. The subversion in this movie is chef’s kiss.
I knew this one was going to be a wild ride, but LAWD!!! Great point about the men's friendship. The shocking brutality of everything probably distracted me, but I'll have to watch it and look out for the aspects you mentioned. The happy family situation is a wild take. I don't think she chose, either! The "happy ending" was a definitely dark and sinister one to me.
I actually enjoyed it while I'm not fat or over 30 I enjoyed seeing a black woman who is regular. Not the ig baddie, not the hood rat just a regular woman who is working trying to make it. Similar to Janine from Abbot Elementary I enjoy the versatility.
I thought it was going to be like the movie The Last Holiday with Queen Latifah
It was her birthday, she didn't need an emergency for him to answer
He also told her he’d be busy (him lying about what kind of busy is another matter), so why get mad? Why not call…again? She threw her hands up after one call and decided to let him find out on his own.
I have only watched the first 2 episodes however I agree. Its not set up or executed well story wise. First of all she is not really fat. Why they keep pushing fat, black etc. is ridiculous. No black woman her size would walk around saying that all day. I can take that she is messed up and scattered - develop that, develop why emphatically. She is a good actress but more is needed story wise, I dunno...🤷🏾♀️
Natasha’s great in this, but the material is not good.
11:31 the reason why the therapist was there with the guys is because he witnessed an a**ault against Frida the night before. He is surprised to learn that Frida and Slater had met at a gala, and that Frida doesn't remember the trauma she has endured on the island. 11:58 Also, the reason why Lucas was there and don't know is because of it’s revealed that Lucas has had his memory wiped like the women. It’s unclear if that’s because he was also a victim or if he simply didn’t agree with what was happening. Once he understands what’s been happening, he tries to help but Sarah shoots him, unaware that Lucas was actually an ally. 13:01 The reason why Slater's sister was there is because of She says she didn’t want to remember. This represents how older generations sometimes struggle to embrace the movements of younger generations, especially when it comes to trauma. And it also ties back to the idea of women supporting one another. Stacy is an example of an oppressed person who sides with the oppressors, because that’s easier for her than fighting. The death of Stacy would represent the end of that way of thinking, or at least a kind of “We’re not giving you space anymore.” Which is why we get that bit of dialogue where a stabbed Stacy says “Help me” and Frida responds, “B*tch, I tried.” Also, the idea for Blink Twice came out of her desire to tell a story that explores the concept of power and, especially, taking back power. Plus, for the other film "Civil War", the theme is about polarization and the extreme political rhetoric that's intended to make us believe the other side is evil. Once we believe the other side is evil, we can justify all sorts of measures. However, the value of individual sacrifices for a larger cause. It portrayed World War II as a peoples' war, typically featuring a diverse group of people and ethnic backgrounds who are thrown together, tested, and molded into a dedicated (force) fighting fascism.” so the meaning is that seeks to amplify a message hopefully everyone can get behind: Let's not let our differences drive us to war. Overall, I'm like Blink Twice, I thought it's was a good film, sure, it's not a perfect movie but it is worth to watch it. And I'm agreed that Channing Tatum did a good job playing the villain role in this and also all the actors & actresses did good with their performances as well (especially Adria Arjona & Naomi Aike).
Sometimes it feels as if Hollywood has forgotten how to write sympathetic characters. Simply stating that "my life is hard, feel bad for me" won't automatically make people feel bad for you.
Agreed 100%
This ABSOLUTELY screams black character written by YT or non-black people. Not that I needed Belinda to play into some hyper-aggressive stereotype either, but having the character solely there as a constant target for racism, discrimination, and general mistreatment is beyond vile. 👎👎👎
The attempt to mix together a semi-Rosemary's baby situation with some Get Out could have maybe (and I'm using that word loosely) worked in different hands. The gross-out elements felt like a cheap way to shock the audience, and even outside of that, the handling of it felt so off-putting and juvenile. Why were there absolutely ZERO other characters we got to see outside of the main three? No family? No friends?
Using race as a (or the) plot point can be effective, but I kept thinking y’all are not Jordan Peele or Misha Green. I agree: they were ultimately gross just to be gross. It didn’t punctuate the plot, smh. I was so desperate for a payoff, I actually thought maybe Solange transferred her spirit into the child at the end, until they revealed how she left us, lol.
Saying "boringer" pretty much let me know you're not playing with a full deck. Additionally, your lack of an attention span is not a reflection of a film's effectiveness. Try sticking with Marvel and other soulless action films in the future so you can be more entertained.
See, when you understand words and grammar, you can play around. The fact that it couldn’t cross your mind that I used boringer on purpose and you rushed to insult my intelligence three times in defense of this boring movie tells me you’re blown away by surface level ish (“ish” stands for “shit,” by the way).
Dang, it sounds like it had potential. Great review!

Yeah, I have to agree. This one really fell flat, like you said did nothing to expand the world or the knowledge of the creatures. Everything felt fairly routine and generic. I didn't care for the way they played Djimon's last scene in AQP:PII, and I was also annoyed that he was wasted here as well. What you said about the tie-in to his character and transitioning into the second film could have been great! Too bad the writers didn't consider that.
I didn’t like his last scene in Part II either. I realized then and there that his purpose was just to ensure their survival.
Sounds like a good movie 🍿. Thanks

Its interesting you point this out because class is still a huge issue in England. It is not often openly spoken of. The government that just ended was full of upper middle class, wealthy people who could not relate to the British people
