A contreversial topic lol. I think they have a lot of roleplay potential, and i see the vision for a class between Druid and Fighter, which is what they feel like, but a lot of the time it feels like they could be a Fighter Subclass. I think the ranger suffers a lot from being kinda shafted. The Hunter's Mark being concentration still definitely feels like an unfortunate choice, rather than something more akin to rouge with sneak attack. I'm nopt a game designer, so I don't feel I have the expertise to fully criticise the class and analyse it, but it does always feel like it gets a bit left to the wayside. The updated rules have definitely made a stride to make it feel better, but the bufss to other classes have also meant that despite it's chnages, it now still feels in the same sort of position as before, albiet still better than it's previous iteration.

For example, If i took the ranger beast master subclass and added it to fighter without really any changes, would you ever see much of a difference, especially if i never use spells (and most rangers save theirs for hunters mark). It does feel like every class has an identity, Rangers often feel like an after thought.

@@VanGothASMR yeah that is well put, i may miss a lot of things since my group breaks "rules" all the time (in a good way) but i feel that people hate it so much but gloom stalker is likely my favorite subclass in the game. even though very situational, God i feel cool af when i 1 shot enemies with style. personally yeah i am a huge fan of ranger, they don't deserve the hate. :(
