Under the new covenant, the emphasis is on being a joyful giver rather than adhering to a specific percentage like tithing. The New Testament encourages believers to give what they have decided in their hearts, not reluctantly or under compulsion, because God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). This approach to giving is rooted in the freedom and grace we have in Christ, allowing us to give out of gratitude and generosity rather than obligation. The focus is on the heart's willingness and the joy of participating in God's work, rather than meeting a specific requirement (2 Corinthians 8:3-5).

Tithing is not a requirement under the new covenant. In the New Testament, there is no instruction for Christians to give a specific percentage of their income. Jesus refers to tithing as a matter of the Law (Matthew 23:23), and as believers, we are not under the Law (Romans 6:14; Galatians 5:18). Instead, we are encouraged to give freely from the heart, not under compulsion or pressure (2 Corinthians 9:7). The focus is on grace-giving, where the amount and frequency of giving are decided by the individual in an atmosphere of freedom. This reflects the new covenant's emphasis on living by the Spirit and expressing Christ's life through us (Galatians 2:20).
