Pride chair. No go because of these ridiculous pandering efforts.
Question. Is it possible to ski from 6 to 10 and back again in a single day?
@@keith2076 Sure can! From 6 to 10: - Down 6 - Up Freedom to the top of 7 - Down Claimjumper or Northstar - Up Rocky Mountain Superchair to the top of 8 - Down 4 o’clock to Sawmill or Crosscut to either C Chair or Beaver Run to the top(ish) of 9 - Down any of the skiers right blue runs the go under the Mercury chair to the bottom of 10
@@RJD_303 wow! I’ll have to print this out and bring it with me! Thanks!
Looks like my kind of Mountain as far as the Double Black Diamond Area's plus I also take it as the Backcountry or is the Double Black Diamond Area's still considered inbounds.Either way I'd love to go there on a DEEP POWDER DAY.
How do you like the slopes at Breck along December, I was told it can be a shortage of powder in some areas, maybe I misunderstood.
It really depends on what you like to ride. There's a ton of fun to be had but on limited terrain. I usually treat December as a warm-up month -- a way to get your legs tuned for the primary months of January - March. A few years back we were treated to big snowfalls in November that gave us access to terrain that usually doesn't open until mid-Jan. And while the snow was great, the base depth created a lot of risk as it covered over a lot of rocks and logs that can cause serious harm if you're overly aggressive.
thanks, great synopsis of the mountain (which on paper looks overwhelming)
Thank you, it's been a couple years and this was a great refresh.
Leaving’s for breck in a few hours thanks man 💪🏽🔥⚔️👍🏽
Well done, very proffessional. Nice not to be subjected to a bunch of profanity.
Many thanks!
Awesome video, thanks for all the great info!
Love these breakdowns. Are you familiar with Beaver Creek? We’re heading out there shortly and would love to get knowledgeable before we get there. Thanks!
Are you going to do a video on keystone?
Going to vail in a couple week, this is the best video I've found describing the runs. Super excited to go. I've also torn my pectoral tendon (bench pressing), did you get the repair surgery?
Thank you! Have a blast. Fittingly, I actually tore mine at Vail on a pole plant in a mogul. lol. Be careful out there! And yes, I had it repaired and it’s back to 100%
What happened to Peak’s 1-5…? 😅
It used to be better before Vail Resorts became Woke.
Over there at Belles camp. Do they supply the charcoals or propane for grilling your steaks? Please let me know.
They are gas grills that are maintained by the resort, so they're always operational (theoretically).
@@RJD_303 sounds legit. My trip there will be one for the books! I’m cool on dropping super coin for some tenders n fries. I’m fina marinate some carne asada steak flanks and corn tortillas so I can make tacos,
Phenomenal video
Ex-Coloradan. Vail is hideous, like a Disney-esque version of the Rockies, very sterile and devoid of romance, adventure, or, you know, actual nature. But if you have a lot of money and very little interest in meeting the full range of humanity, you'll love it.
A very fair take. It's certainly jumped the shark for many.
That's what I want
it would have been helpful if you mentioned where the terrain parks are
Maps don't do it justice! You have to be there! It's the amazing vista! When I was a kid, I used to ski _Breckenridge Resort_ every December back in the early to late 1990's. Unfortunately, I probably wouldn't be able to go back today. _Peak 7_ didn't exist the first time, and was mostly in its infancy later on, until I last skied there, and _Peak 6_ didn't exist at all! The only high-speed detachable quad chairlifts at the time were _QuickSilver SuperChair, Falcon SuperChair, Mercury SuperChair,_ and _Colorado SuperChair._ A couple more high-speed detachable quad chairlifts came along when I was still skiing there, like _Beaver Run SuperChair_ and _Rocky Mountain SuperChair._ The furthest blue trail (before out of bounds) was _Claimjumper_ on _Peak 8_ at the time when I first skied there. Also, the peaks' chutes and bowls didn't have the amazing chairlift access like they do now, so you had to hike-to-terrain at much longer distances back then! Also, this may be quite helpful to newer skiers, since it isn't labeled on the map: If you end up on _Peak 10,_ there's a blue trail at the top of it that will take you back to _Peak 9._ However, it isn't labeled (for some reason) on any of the modern trail maps. Yet, you can see this trail on the trail map. It's a narrow and winding trail, called _Union,_ and it's very close to the top of _Falcon SuperChair,_ and it's to the skier's left. So, if you don't want to (or can't) ski blacks and double blacks, then _Union_ (unmarked, but open) will take you to _Upper Lehman,_ a green trail, that's on _Peak 9._ So, if you want to get off of _Peak 10_ or just want to go down a long, winding, and narrow blue trail just for fun, then _Union_ is where you should go. Man, I so miss skiing at _Breckenridge Resort!_ I have so many great memories, and it's so nostalgic too! Maybe one day, I'll be able to go back, I HOPE . . . It's so much bigger now, and there's so much more to ski now too! Thank you for sharing this anyways! 👍🎿
Thanks for the detailed comment and for sharing your experience and insights! Here's hoping you make it back someday!
@@RJD_303 Sure thing! Glad I could help! By the way, thank you very much! I really appreciate that sentiment! I really do miss going there! It was such a magical place, even 25+ years ago! I can't even imagine the newer possibilities of what I could do there now! I really do HOPE to go back someday . . . I HOPE . . . 👍🎿
Super helpful. Thx for your efforts.
Imagine a ski resort telling you you can't eat there unhealthy overpriced gmo corporate cafeteria slop, cause you dint take the big pharma juice. 🤡
Seems super crowded now
This year seemed to thin out ever so slightly as a result of IKON gaining more market share. It's all relative though, so it's definitely still crowded. Cheers!
excellent description thanks
Thanks for this video!!!!
Nice job.. I love studying trail maps too haha
The best! I get lost in them.
Interesting how different parks use different coding. Like Jackson Hole I think has double blue, but Breck doesn't. I would assume some of the blacks here may be close to a double blue elsewhere?
Great video!! I would add that the catwalk “columbine” at the top of peak 8 is very flat. Get some speed early and don’t slow down. Same goes for lower sawmill.
Great video! Are you on instagram?
We have had a place in Vail since 85. Great area to ski, but living there full time can present problems. Mental health issues , or problems, do become amplified. Mountain employees are often not too friendly. The is especially applicable to the ski patrol. Tourists should have patience in their interactions on the mountain. Know that the young people working at Vail do have that yoke of potential mental health issues hanging on them.
You didn't mention primo or pronto bump runs
Note to anyone doing needles eye, prepare for it by running through the trees in the double blacks around it, then know that it’s much harder
Worth noting: Imperial is the highest chair in the country.
I know this video was posted an year ago, but I would gladly appreciate if you could reply to my comment! Do all of the black & double black diamond slopes on the Back bowl(or even the ones on the front side of mountain) have moguls? If not, do you remember what are some black/double blacks WITHOUT moguls? I love steep slopes and enjoy thrill of speed skiing. I mostly ride on black/double blacks, but I can't do moguls at all and have to avoid.
It will be our first ride in Vail, and your reply would be very helpful :)
Hey there! There are plenty of runs in the back bowls that don't have moguls. The terrain is varied and provides something for all styles. Given that the tree coverage is sparse you can easily spot the places that are moguled vs. those that are, so you won't find yourself in a position where you're forced down moguls.
My best run in the Back Bowls. Late 70's(yes I'm old). 14'' new over night, snowing stopped but still overcast. We were in the second gondola out of Lionshead, down Game Creek up lift 7 just in time as patrol opened the gate to Sundown Bowl. The 3 of us had knee/mid thigh power, I went straight down the crest of untracked Ricks Ridge and booked it back to chair 5. Half way up the lift the sun broke out illuminating Ricks with nothing but my tracks straight down the center. It was Beautiful. Like something out of a religious experience.
Headin there this coming February. Thanks for the video.
Game Creek with a west wind is a pow stash. Ouzo's Glade, ouzo, and wild card ♠️. Secret is out.
Your 100 percent correct if you hit chair 38 on a powder day. You can lap it all day and have the greatest day!
Most over-priced over-rated ski resort in the world hands down! Fail...the adventures of a lift line!!!
This is a great video, appreciate it.
Thank you for making this! Subscribing 🙂
Thanks for making this video!
What are u talking about vail is much more expensive than telluride and park city, aspens barely ahead
I've been to Vail 4 times. And have never been on Gondola 1 or that side of the mountain. Can attest Vail is HUGE.
Excellent explanation, do some of the others in summit County!!!
Vail, the corporation, sucks.
Vail isn’t a great resort for snowboarding. Too many times you will be skating and walking. Go to Breckinridge or keystone.
Try riding Poconos PA LOL
Well then start skiing, bruh
I was in Breck in early Feb and I miss it already. Great video.
Riding Peak 9 tomorrow ⛷️
