Simple fix for 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 gas cap light error on dashboard
Simple fix for 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 gas cap light error on dashboard. Disconnect your battery prior to working on your vehicle. Also, confirm the battery is disconnected for minimum 2 minutes after completing all work on the vehicle. Disconnecting the battery will also reset the computer and the gas cap light error on the dashboard should disappear if this is the issue. Hope this video helps. Click if you like.

is that the vent valve?
Vapor Canister Filter (in front of charcoal evap canister)
So when you disconnect your battery terminal the light will go out after you drive it a while it will come back on if anybody just know how to cure this problem let me know tired of buying pieces is it a matter of just resetting the computer?
The light will reappear if u dont resolved the problem after connecting the battery. Though, the problem resolved my issue after repairing canister filter as demonstrated on video. No light reappeared.
U explained well these assholes in the comments just can’t listen correctly 👍🏽
Some people have disabilities and it's harder for some to understand
Thank you for your feedback.
You’re at 101k views! Hope you’re doing well my friend 🙏
Metal epoxy?
Permatex Steel Weld Epoxy stick sold at canadian tire
Get on with it
Sorry the video didn't help
That is just a filter on the vent valve hose. I'm sure the leak detection pump on the canister is bad which could be considered the evap vent valve
So far you've wasted a lot of my time I don't care about your other lights and indicators what did you do to remove the indicator gas cap verbiage on your odometer appreciate you taking the time but eliminate that earlier stuff
Sorry for wasting your time.
Thank you! I unplugged mine and some sand fell out and the gascap code went away, gonna need to replace my hoses but it resolved it for now and showed me what I need to replace.
Need to try this
Thank you
Learn how to shoot a video dude
Lmao give the guy a break man, it’s a great homemade vid
Sorry to disappoint you but its my second video just to help.
@@johnfranks5030 thanks for the kind words.

2008 Dodge Ram 1500 STX
What was you tire light issue in the end??
Tire sensor corroded .
What is the little part you plugged the hole on called?
Used Permatex Steel Weld Epoxy stick sold at canadian tire.
same setup on 2010 ram??
Sorry, i am not sure
Nope, 4th gen this is 3
@@Manwichman yeah ended up being a evap sensor on top of the canister, it’s in the same spot as 3rd gen just looks a little different
Thanks you. I have replaced my positive crank case sensor twice: which worked, but it keeps recurring, so maybe this will knock it out.
Can you tell me where that hose connects to in the side of the engine? I noticed mine is just open near the engine bay. I know this has to be connected to something. I also see a plug which is also hanging there near the it by the down pipe.
nef003. Did you find out the answer to you question? I have a 2011 caravan and am getting GASCAP error message. The small black cannister is located on the firewall, a hose comes from the evap canister under the van and going into this small black cannister on the firewall and the outlet of the cannister just has a short piece of hose connected to nothing and I can't see anything close enough that it could connect to. I would like to know if it supposed to be connected to something too.
Sorry, only familiar with Vapor Canister Filter located near evap charcoal canister.
FYI.. My buddy incurred the same error code and never had a defective or cracked black canister pointed out on this video. He required to change a white square-like component on the side of charcoal canister which attached the vapour hoses. Again, this white component is attached on the charcoal canister near the black canister pointed out on this video. The component cost approx $35. Check your gas cap & vapour hoses for cracks also... The charcoal canister would be your last item to change since it cost about $200- $300. Hope this helps...Good luck
Always appreciated any alternative repairs to help if my fix didn't work.
Do you know if this particular piece is the same on a Ford Escape? I've had this issue pop up for the second time. I changed the fuel cap, reset the code, and the light turned off. It was off for a month and now it's back off... This car has to last me at least four more months... Any help would be great.
Hinote6713 You're going to have to Google the year make model of your car fillowed by the issue that you're having. You may have to Google variations of the problem by name to find more obscure or poorly named posts on the web. But once you do that you just have to read, read, read! I like to copy and paste the ones I like onto a Word document using spaces or asterisks separating the different comments That way I can just take what I want, save or print and refer to it later. Then I pursue these leads one by one. Sometimes I choose the most likely, sometimes I choose the least expensive sometimes that's one in the same. Good luck!
I believe all vehicle may differ.
