Helpful video! Can you describe allergy season(s) in Reno and does it bother you? thanks
My finance and i came to visit from , you guessed it California and the homeless issue he stated earlier is a drop in the bucket , stayed for 3 days and traveled everywhere looking for apartments and maybe saw 1 or 2 of them
Latino For Trump 💪, no more war and a cheaper mortgage
I was born (1970's) & raised here Reno has turned into a pile of $#!+
Honestly think climate here is fine. Main issue is the amount of ice for those of us above 5k feet. Have to accept the climate to have the amazing scenery and wilderness areas. Wind is definitely an issue. Plenty of ruined fences, trampolines, etc. Lastly, Reno is one of the most expensive cities in the country for cost of childcare vs. median income.
I'm surprised someone made a negative video about living here. The truth. It's cheaper here vs someplace like Califorrnia. Everyone I know is struggling here though including me. I come from Michigan to Tahoe and now here. 10 years its changed alot. Nevada is a low standard of living vs what I'm used to. I compare it to living in flint Mi but with a better view. I need a weapkn to feel safe at home. It used to be cheap mellow city to live in. A fun place to visit on the weekends if you came from a rural place like Tahoe. No real danger. People were friendly. It was quiet vs other cities. Its overpopulated now. Selfish cuel self-entitled dirtbags all over the place. People are very hostile or down right crazy wave a gun in your face violent. Healthcare is bad, schools are bad, commuting is bad, most jobs pay nothing and the climate is extreme. It's also insanly expensive to live here now. Firms eating up the housing and renting it back at high prices. I got the only good job around in manufacturing electric car parts. I still barley make it here. Its so miserable. Rent, food, gas and utilities are insane here vs other places. I can't get good healthcare. Its mini california. Most sincerly, I've never been more unhappy living somewhere than I have in Reno. Reno is not the Reno it used to be a couple years ago. The sooner I save to gtfo out of here the better which is also sad bscause this was once my home I felt soo comfortable in. This area or the mountains don't feel like home anymore.
I like that your golf section doesnt use any video from Reno courses 🤣
Do not move here. How about that. Just stay tf away. Liberal commiefornians have turned it to shit
You’re hot - are you in Reno? 😂
California isn't sending their best people. I call Reno the "Inland Empire North". Lots of men idling about during the day in wife beaters, visible tattoos with pit bull dogs in tow.
I’m blaming them I’ve been here 38 years and I will never be able to afford a home
Way too pricey
I'm 3rd gen. Reno, it's best if people spend some money, have fu , then leave to greener pastures
I will in. the Future coming from a shithole blue state in PA. I have lived in Vegas in the 80's and 90's cant stand living in a broccoli bowl.
What is wrong with people? Not everything has to be political! If your politics is all you have, you need to get a real life.
As someone who lives in northwestern NV, my issue with Reno, is that they pushed the idea of the whole city being a giant suburban sprawl. you don't feel like you're part of a town, just a neighborhood of of you and 100,000 other people and you need to drive to get anywhere. Its a beautiful valley, but the growth was poorly managed. You stated that the cost of living is more affordable for you, and yeah, for you. People in Cali sold their houses for 700,000+ and could buy a house in Reno for 300,00 with some left over and so that drove the price way way up. especially since the average family income for the Reno area is 60,000, but according to the housing index, to buy a new house, you need a medium family income of 89,000 so yeah, its a problem for locals with average jobs.
I live in Reno. It's a wonderful place to live, but don't move here.
The Californians are definitely ruining Reno, along with the rest of Nevada and every other state they move to. They leave California and then seem to forget why they left and try and push their politics and other failed ideologies. The gang bangers coming from California is another bad situation. The Reno climate isn't like Las Vegas. Reno has four seasons and is much cooler in the summer. I think that statement was a little off. Having lived in Vegas, I can say that Reno or any of the other Northern Nevada towns and cities are much better than living in Vegas. Reno is even too congested for me anymore. If you want a much slower and better quality of life look at the other smaller Northern Nevada towns.
And it's full of illegals I was side swipped by an illegal we pulled over his English was terrible and I asked for his ID and insurance he didn't have anything .. I told him I need to call the cops... he quickly ran to his car and sped off... cops arrived 30 mins later they couldn't do a damn thing
Beautiful city Pros There is a lot of events Littlebit of everything Diverse weather Casinos Cons Drugs Beggars Old building Rent
With regards to your gas price piece, you can totally blame Reno/ Sparks for that. As a people we continue to keep voting for increases to gas taxes for everything under the sun. The latest was to help give more money for schools, when we originally voted to ear mark money from the sale of weed to go to schools, which never did. So glad we legalized that nonsense.
I've thoroughly enjoyed my visits to Reno. It's one of the few places in the USA I would enjoy living. Californians are fine: it's the Kalifornians that are a problem. They're screwing everything up where I live, too (Nashville, TN vicinity).
Reno needs to bring back ice hocky, and, when downtown had smaller casinos, it was at its peak. Indian gaming outside Nevada did not help in the 2000s
Pros lots to do like concerts, hiking, food etc etc. 10 years ago, the cost was reasonable. Now it's getting on a California level. And income here does not match the cost of living. Crime has tripled just in the last 5 years. Source RPD and Sparks PD. Yes, downtown has nice spots. But yes, there's a lot of homelessness. Traffic has gone from bad to worse, especially during commute times. But yes there are plenty of nice things about Reno. I plan on leaving the area as we've become Nevadafornia. I almost forgot we have the highest gas taxes in the nation. And the 2nd highest grocery prices.
“Don’t blame Californians” said a chorus of uninvited Californians making cost of living impossible.
Blame foreign investors. They are the ones buying up all the real estate in California which is forcing Californians to move.
Reno had a lot of character about fifty years ago. Not so much anymore.
Don’t move to Reno if you’re a liberal idiot you are not welcome
I’m 3rd generation Nevadian. Reno isn’t Reno anymore and you’re encouraging people to move here. And that’s extending that problem
People thought the same way with Denver when it was a conservative cow town. Now Denver is the new LA.
Can you contact me? Las Vegas to Reno?
Feel free to text me 775-830-2507
Reno is the WORST place I've EVER lived! I "endured" 4 1/4 years there. Totally Ghetto!...Run Forrest, RUN!!!
I have traveled around the country and lived in 3 other states but have found Reno to be the best place to live. I have been hers 28 years and plan on staying here through retirement. Taxes are lower than most states, politics are moderate, weather is great including the amount of days sunny. If is growing in size but would you rather live in a dying city?
I wonder if their are reasonably priced homes for Seniors.
NOTHING is reasonably priced here, believe me.
Rents here are as much as Elk Grove, a nice suburb of Sacramento. I’ve seen rents start to stabilize, but they’re still high for what you get.
0:26 No, Reno is not in Washoe Valley, it is in the Truckee Meadows. South of the Truckee Meadows is Steamboat Valley and south of that is Washoe Valley, which lies between Steamboat and Carson.
@@jordandar1415 yeah, no shit. Reno is NOT in Washoe Valley, as claimed in the video.
@@erikprater7818 Don't know why the hostility, but pretty sure Reno IS located in Washoe County. "It is located in the southern part of Washoe County" -Reno[.]gov Cities: Reno, Sparks, Incline Village, Spanish Springs, Sun Valley, Cold Springs, Washoe City, More
@@jordandar1415 😂no hostility. Reno being in Washoe County was never the question. You brought that up,and with a certain sanctimonious tone ("Pretty sure Reno is...") like you were coming here to teach something. Not sure why, as I was directly addressing misinformation spoken in the video, but you absolutely missed the context of my original comment. And so I said "no shit". Now you're here stating the same thing to get a last word in. And again I respond, "No shit"
I'm not really moving. I'll be there for a week for vacation.
Oh ok, thanks
Is snowboarding good as early as December?
Yes!
@@RenoLiving beautiful
Sounds like Seattle.
We’re full. Go back
My wife and I were traveling through Reno two years ago and decided, “hey, let’s take a break and walk our dogs down by the river!!!” OMG. OMG. OMG This beautiful rushing river literally playing backdrop to “Night of the Living Dead”. We got the hell out of there and just banged our heads on the utter waste of a beautiful resource
Idlewild park is pretty nice. The homeless by the downtown casinos can be pretty aggressive. The skate park down there doesn’t help and is kind of tired (except the whale art stuff). The freemason buildings give it an eerie Denver Airport vibe without the cool blue horse and funny talking gargoyles. The Eddy is a decent outdoor bar that has good pizza where you can play bingo and hacky sack. They oughta cobble stone that area, throw in some horse drawn carriages, get some intimidating police on horses instead of those dorky segways, and pay someone to play the saxophone down there like in Omaha’s Old Market or NYC’s Central Park.
LOL! I lived downtown for three months for work this summer! I enjoyed Hot August Nights because of my love for classic cars. Not sure I'll ever visit again because Reno locals are very "special" lol
helpful
Tahoe is absolutely packed full of people in the recent years, the weather fucking SUCKS (cold for 8-9 months, if its not cold it's windy, and 2 weeks of a decent summer) and sunshine stat is so misleading lmao. The people here do not try out of towners well, we are tired of it. No state tax, 2nd highest grocery bill in the country and rent prices rivaling California. Record homelessness going on right now, dilapidated downtown area full of people drugged out or sleeping in front of the closing down businesses. Reno has gotten so much worse since 2020.
Reno is a dirty city... Nasty
"The Reno single mom trap" is a thing🫤
I've lived in Reno for almost 20 years...I would tell you to avoid downtown. Go to the GSR, Pepper-mill, or Atlantis for quality gaming.
Is sparks safe?
@@b-lew777 Most of it is when compared to downtown Reno; however, I would avoid loitering around the McCareen exit area.

Man i love Reno, When i was a kid in the early 2000s i went to movie theater, Toys RUs, Barnes and Nobles, and Circus Curcus definitely one of the best times in my life. Traveling from Fallon Nv btw at the time
Damonte is hot garbage. All of the subdivisions are built like Vegas neighborhoods in that all of the houses look the same and all of the backyards are basically non-existent. When I was finishing my second degree, I delivered pizza in the area and at the end of each day, I'd want to rip my eyes out, because everything was identical. Plus, the mosquitos are fucked because of the wetlands.
What are the most affordable cities near Reno to buy a house
I would say northwest, sparks, and the north valleys!
Las Vegas, Henderson I'd go there
@@stephenhipp7859las Vegas is horrible. I lived there for over a decade.
@@human151 yep. It's why they should move there and not here
What an expensive city. Definitely not for the middle class :-(
He's picked some of the most expensive areas in the region. There's plenty for the middle class here, especially with recent wage increases. Journeyman pipefitters, for instance, are pulling in north of 100k a year. Arrowcreek and Montreux are like upper crust of the upper crust. You're looking at multimillion dollar homes in those areas. Damonte actually has a middle class are right at the entrance off of Double R. A lot of those houses are in the low 300k range. Then you have Sparks, which is all fairly affordable.
@@jaykwonzzz Thanks! You have given me hope!
I am contemplating moving my business to Reno. I would like to know where in the city are the startups and tech business are located. I have machine tools which like low $ / kW-Hr and minimum $ FT **2. Please advise.
Probably around Greg Street. Reno isn't massive, so the areas you're looking at are limited. That said, Greg Street seems to house mostly small to medium sized businesses, including machine shops.
Been to Reno/Tahoe many times.. Have gone snowboarding there. Awesome. Sending regards from Toronto, Canada
Houses look like austin prices but less people which is nice
