In Your Room - Kenny Hyslop
Sadly we made this video when we heard of his passing away before we had the opportunity to speak to Kenny, we wanted to give him the opportunity to let us know his own experiences with Simple Minds and what he's been doing ever since.

Fantastic news. Look forward to listening to this.
Love it
❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Fantastic guys so happy for you and the fans will always stand by u all
I am over the moon to hear and see you guys back together, Thankyou millions
And what about Mel gaynor😮😮????
The SM documentary was disappointing. Jim and Charlie have really done nothing interesting since Mick left. Kudos to them for keeping it going but the magic was with the original line up. Mel was great too but even he wants nothing to do with Jim anymore. Graeme Thomson's superb book basically goes up to Mick's departure then sums up everything done since in two pages
Great news! Looking forward to your new material over anything Jim and Charlie are doing.
LOVE. IT. Can't wait to hear what you guys will do!
Super re.ok
It's a shame really. The Everything is possible rockumentary has clearly added to the acrimony for obvious reasons. Kerr needs to realise that the band produced unquestionably and by far their best music when these guys were band members but his gargantuan ego won't permit it.
I only wached the doc over xmas and was just thinking where are these three guys... now I can see why... looking forward to what comes this year...
I love you all❣️ past present in now! So amazing so totally amazing, God bless you all❣️❤️🌈👌👍🤗👏👏👏👏
And now???
Oh brilliant... you are 95% of what is missing from Simple Minds... massive drop in interest and quality after you all left... you each took large pieces away with you...
Go get 'em guys, long overdue. You were the engine room that created the sounds to my teenage years.
Ooooo nice. I loved you then....bangers
Kenny was an absolute legend - a one-off! Shocking the way Mr Kerr treated him...
Herr Kerr always gets his way. He's kept SM going for 45+ years, whether that's good or not is debatable.
1:49 car reg plates are the Virgin Records catalogue numbers for SFC and S&F albums.
After Derek and Mick were no longer in the band the sound of Simple Minds (in my opinion) wasnt the same. The magic had gone.
I was told by a well known music journalist years ago who championed Simple Minds in the early 80s (if you're a SM fan you'll know who I'm talking about) he said Jim Kerr called Simple Minds HIS band and always wanted his own way. I don't if it's true but I have heard other people talk about Kerr's ego. I hope Mick, Derek and Brian tell us the real story about Kerr, Burchill and Simple Minds.
Herr Kerr. Jim was the director but without the music of Mick, Derek, Brian & Charlie would be still be in Glasgow, not Sicily.
... im a fan already !!!! .... canny wait 😜
Good luck to the 3 of you. As a long term Minds purist, I'm really looking forward to what you put out this year. Those albums that you were a part of were just amazing. Such a tragedy that it didn't last. That line up from 78-81 had the combined talent and musical chemistry to be the greatest British band OF ALL TIME!
Brilliant 👍
(9:35) ...what's in JK's hand-bag!
First saw Simple Minds in 1981 at the Odeon New Street in Brum. I had gone along with uni mates who liked them, but I thought they were great and saw them many times myself over the next few years, buying up and devouring the back catalogue. Sadly I think Brian must have just left by then, but Derek and Michael were still obviously the main drivers behind the sound at that time and for the next couple of years. The bass lines in particular were incredible and original and the brilliance of the keyboards still stands out a mile forty plus years later. Fantastic to see you involved with this, looking forward to seeing the results!
.....good to see the Engine Room of the original band starting over again........ I'm feeling 'Pleasantly Disturbed' by this news......
SM at Princes Street Gardens in August 2023 were woeful. It was supposed to be New Gold Dream start to finish but the sound was shocking, and I walked out. They were a shadow of the former band. I would love to see these three playing the songs as they were supposed to sound. Subscribed.
😉
Hi there lads, I just wanted to thank you on behalf of most simple minds fans, for what yous are doing now ( and hopefully more to come ). As you guys hard work and graft resulted in many masterpieces that bless our ears. I have to say many thanks on behalf of us fans.
Thank you for the memories guys. Are you going to record and release your re-interpretations of your songs? I was lucky enough to see and meet Derek in NY and NJ when he came to the US after releasing Echoes.
Sweat - my brother Mickey had a 5amp speaker he used put his guitar thru and on a rare sunny day in dundalk I'd blast it out proudly ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Fuck me Derek You Look like you're sitting up in the bed like one of Charlie in the chocolate factory's uncle. 😂
Looking forward to this Yummy mmmmm .
Time for new songs
By the way Sister Feelings Call is the most underrated album ever. I think even you guys that made it don’t get it. It started my journey on bass.
So what’s next? A reunion with Jim and Charlie coz we are all getting older. I’m 60 in march next year. Simple Minds opened my mind to music. I have never heard anything since that comes close, not even U2. I still get a buzz from Sons and fascination and Reel to Reel. They don’t age unlike me. Thanks guys. Remember it took all of you guys to make that sound. That can’t be changed.
Thank you three guys for TH3! My wonderful youth are the first Simple Minds Album right until Sparkle in the rain. I love the old Stuff with wonderfull Synthtracks, Drumming and whole Music. I travel, real to real, factory, premonition, 30 frames a second(the drumming!), celebrate, premonition, calling your name, the american, promised you amiracle, someone somewhere…….. I am so f… thankful for this music and that this music accompanied me through my youth(10-16) first girls, first love, first beer, first concert, first car, first band. Thank you for that! I would like to hear some music this kind of.
In trance as mission, seeing out the angel….
Saludos desde Granada,España, grandes músicos gracias por vuestro trabajo disfrutamos mucho de vuestra música a seguir. Thanks Minds.
Derek Forbes and Mick McNeil are so bloody cool
To me this is the true sound of the band, Last time I went see the Jim and Charlie show in Edinburgh , and they done the Complete NGD album, I thought this is dire, This isn’t the band that I listened to and went to see, back in the 80’s
Flipped over the original lineup, Brian left right after. I warmed up to Mel very quick and then saw that other guy when Live Aid aired. That other guy happened to be one of the finest bass players and helped shape two amazing albums. Things change, you accept this as you realize it is out of your control. Can't have everything the way we want. Been a Simple Minds fan for 42 years, finding much to love in every album. Very interested to see what these three have in store for us as they were part of something very special.
fantastic
Great tribute lads..love your channel 🎶🎶👍👍
One thing's for certain, whatever the version of the band was playing, there's always been a fabulous drummer. Everyone. Thanks guys!
This is a wonderful tribute - great reflections.
Great to see you 3 back together,of all the Simple Minds albums i have,Sons & Fascination is my nos 1 because of the pulsating, hypnotic rhythm.Kenny always seemed to be standing up playing the drums & i loved his dress sense.
Great sounds on this teaser. But the first 25 seconds ... OMG ! W H A T a sound !!!
Careful in career sound..amazing
Just totaly love the teaser starting at 1:08. Vibes of S&F / SFC: mindblowing !! Sounds also so unbelievably fresh. Can't wait for what to come.
Careful in Career maybe?😊
Are you gonna tour?
Room is one my all time best simple minds songs love it fantastic
